Good point, think of the amount of people who spend most of their waking hours on a forum complaining that he lacks the guts for the job and then he gets panned for being a little outspoken

He is entitled to ask the question-he is a cup winning manager ffs. Justifiable sense of pride, if you ask me

Good for Danny, really pleased to hear him come out fighting. A bit fire in the belly is a good thing. Better than blah blah blah sh*t

dont think it is appropriate to be commenting on someone's health in a football forum. It is certainly not helpful . Danny will be hurting because he cares and is giving it his all, but that doesnt mean he is on the point of cracking up. He appears to be in post for the next few games at least, let's just get these over with and see where we are

Just a thought, the membership of this forum seems to be split between 3 camps
those who are campaigning to have DL unseated those who defend him or think that any change just now is liable to be worse for St Mirren those who are enjoying the associated carnage and are happily winding both sides up If you look at the poll, maybe 3-5% of the regular and committed saints support have expressed a view one way or another. The silent majority really is truly massive in comparison and my thoughts are that most of them have seen it all before, are taking it all in their stride and are waiting for events to unfold rather than seeking to influence them.
We should all be aware that the direction that the threads are taking us in looks like a civil war to those sitting outside. Trouble is, those sitting outside include the players and the media. I doubt many others are looking in. the players will be horribly discouraged by what they read on here and the media will be stoking up for a field day at our expense in the near future. I have to ask, what is the point of the DL must go campaign? the board are sitting tight and their support for the manager is lukewarm at best. For as long as he is there then they are not under attack and it wont take many saints wins to put Hearts under extreme pressure at the bottom-if they make it to Christmas.
My point is, the constant campaigning is incredibly damaging and the campaigners cant claim the support of the majority on this. the only things they are doing is damaging the confidence of the players and turning off potential fans and players alike.
By all means, criticise tactics and selection, suggest different options if you want and debate it all to death, but please delete the calls for sackings and abuse of the staff before you post your thoughts. The forum has influence way beyond what it's member numbers warrant and I think that power is not being very wisely used just now

I wont be contributing to this thread further, other than to say that the recent debate over management and players performance, in my opinion, highlighted the worst in our support as well as the best. I wasnt seeking to limit free speech, but asking people to exercise their right carefully

Kilmarnock seem just as bad as us, & Hearts are beginning to show signs of strain with red cards in successive league games.
Two weeks till the next game at home to Motherwell, I'll be there ready to support the team in my customary manner, I've just one request - that Lennon & the players take a vow of silence between now and then.

Agreed. I always liked Gus in charge and could never really see the rationale in replacing him with DL. If DL had come in and made serious advances on the position Gus led us to in the SPL I would have gladly eat my own words of course, which has not been the case. I would reckon that the only advantage DL brings as a replacement of Gus was a lower salary IMO.
Calls for DL to go are fair enough in isolation, considering the horrible start to the season which is not simply based on results, but the fact that all things considered, the outlook is looking rather bleak for 2013/14 at this stage. The question is not one that we can ask in isolation however, it is inextricably tied up with the question of who replaces him?
The worst one I've heard on here is the argument for Thompson as player manager/manager, given that he is already one of the senior players, we would like to think that his opinion would have some currency in the SMFC dressing room, and that any positive contribution he could make would already have been shared with the group, the whole point of replacing the manager is in having someone with a fresh and objective vantage point with which to rejuvenate the campaign...very much a toughie at this stage when the transfer window was slammed shut yesterday!
My opinion is that DL will be with us until at least January. The SMFC board will probably not splash out on new management, that is to say that the reason DL is here IMO is that he costs less than Gus...is there another manager out there who costs the same as DL who we would agree has a better chance of taking things forward?...and if we are going to splash out...which I think we should...January is probably the logical time to do so, given that the first questions a new manager is likely to ask are: how much can I spend? and who can I bring in?...
I refuse to jump on the bandwagon of being over critical of DL...I think the guy will...in the passing of time be regarded as a hero of sorts for his League Cup victory...and I think it's unfortunate that managers attract so much abuse for not getting things right in comparison to other walks of life...had he gone at the end of last season it would have been the right time I think...the reality is that he probably has until January...if DL takes us down then the blunder is that of the SMFC board...
