It's another version of what we currently have ffs. Our press will present this as big bad EU when they laugh at us and refuse. The story suggests that this has support from the Irish PM. Just saying.

He's happy to have a deal with backstop replaced (it's only there as a fall back anyway) however it requires UK to find a solution. At the moment there's still no workable solution being proposed. The mood noises seem to be changing as the DUP reevaluate their political clout with the Tories. Reaching a position where they will ultimately have control through the devolved assembly might now suit them but its fraught with potential knock on problems

Second they share power in it, similar to holyrood its not designed for a majority party.
Bud the Baker
Bonking Boris has gotten himself involved in a scandal over £126,000 of public money paid to an American businesswoman whilst Mayor of London. Quote Mr Johnson was a regular visitor to Ms Arcuri's flat in Shoreditch OK it's all a bit nudge, nudge, wink, wink, - but what made me chuckle was her description of herself as a "legitimate businesswoman". beyond our ken
meanwhile, the pound surges following news of the verdict. Tory response is to repeat the same message and try to provoke parliament to call a quick election. This shows how rattled, one-dimensional and witless the Johnson cohort is in Parliament
Bud the Baker
The Conservative Party is in turmoil trying to work out a response to the Supreme Court's ruling - their MPs have been told not to say anything at present although Mark Francois has been on TV to call the ruling a disgrace. Where exactly is BJ at present - is he still at the UN meeting in NY or is he winging his way back over the Atlantic? Answer - Still in NY. Didn't Bercrow look like the cat who'd got the cream? Bud the Baker
When the Tories elected BJ to be their leader in July prorogation of Parliament was already high on the agenda and they had no alternative response to yesterday's SC ruling than "we respect the SCs ruling but disagree with it" - they're now so far down the "Boris vs The Establishment" road they've no alternative this side of the forthcoming GE. The opposition parties want a cast iron no leaving without a deal position before doing so. With a government playing fast and loose.. What's to stop them leaving and essentially saying.. Well suck it up guys.

If he really wanted it, he could get a VONC this week, get into power next week and kill Brexit dead. He doesn't want to be remembered as the man who did that. Either that or he really is afraid of being in charge. It's all very odd. Edited September 25, 2019 by oaksoft
