Come on the stock market! We could all do with a boost. As the US markets have been roaring along as though there never has been a pandemic, I think they’ll be fine. Boomed up today, again. obviously our market collapse is less down to Covid and all about The Buffoon’s brexit.

Thankfully 90% of my investments exclude the UK markets, but it’s other people’s pensions that I worry about too, THAT has been the wise gameplay. Today’s US special spike, I should note, is down to the news about the Pfizer vaccine. Stocks in that sector have benefitted from that - so Covid, in an oblique way has impacted the US markets. Not like Uk which can find NO upsides...

Luckily it doesn’t look like history will be repeating itself.

This will have long term effects on the Republican Party. There is nothing the American voter hates more than the establishment trying to tell them they voted for the wrong guy. Bud the Baker
The OrangeMan is going out in a blaze of gory (sic). having reinstated the capital punishment program which as ever is weighted against the black population it's the usual scenario of dodgy convictions, harsher penalties, reasonable mitigating factors ignored you could even say it's an example of where Black Lives Matter to the OrangeMan - killing a few to pander to his obnoxious fanbase! Aye, it’s disgusting. Normal presidents - on their way out - customarily commuted death sentences that might have taken place during their departure period. utterly inhumane and pointless. antrin
This Grauniad article outlines how Trump’s White House has overtaken all the slaughter by those individual State’s executions in a year. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/dec/15/trump-administration-us-death-penalty-executions US states have been slowly civilising - even Texas only killed 3 people last year. No lame duck president since 1889, (when a Choctaw Indian was executed) has murdered a prisoner. Lame duck Trump has done 3. Three further prisoners (one female) are now at severe risk of the feckless madman. Edited December 16, 2020 by antrin
