  • This puts things in perspective. I was there today. For 60 minutes or so we seemed to have more of the ball but insisted on either passing sideways or back together with long punts up front. Montrose

Can you blame the fans for losing the plot over this dire performance in the league cup for the second year running? We can't defend and we don't have a clue how to take the game to a supposed we

Raith have been spending money this season, might be worth a wee punt most weeks.

I think Forfar winning their league might be worth a few £, too.

I should say, away to Morton would be my number one draw - of they somehow scrape through.

Failing that, away to Hamilton, Ayr, Airdrieonians or Partick Thistle would be a good day out. :)

Anybody know how the seeding works for this draw?

ETA: @exiledfan - I believe it is.

My thoughts too so likely a team in/knocked out of Europe for us. Morton at home please though if I'm confused

Just trying to work out of we can still be seeded:

Group A:

1 Ayr 3 2 8
2 Stirling 3 2

7

If Ayr's best result is a single point at home to Alloa, they can finish on 9 points, so it would go to goal difference.

Stirling are away to St. J, so I would not expect them to go through, but they can finish with 10 points.

Best results for Saints: Alloa and St. Johnstone wins. An Ayr and/or Stirling win will see them finish on >9 points.

Group B:

1 Dundee Utd 4 2 6
2 Partick Thistle 3 1 6
3 The Spartans 3 1 6
4 Falkirk 3 0

5

Nobody can finish on more than nine points, so goal difference is important here. We want draws or narrow-margin wins.

Group 😄     [LIVINGSTON SEEDED]

    Team P GD Pts
1 Hamilton 3 3 8
2 Livingston 3 8 7
3 Cove Rangers 3 -1 6

The bad news is Livingston will almost certainly beat Clyde, so I am writing this one off as seeded. :(

Group 😧 [SEEDED]

1 Ross County 3 7 9
2 Morton 3 4 6
3 Kelty Hearts 3 2 6

Bad news again, I cannot see past Ross County getting at least a draw at home to Kelty. Even if they do slip up, Morton are at home to winless Edinburgh. I am writing this one off as seeded, too. :(

I've just looked at group E, and given up. Airdrieonians need a draw at Bonnyrigg, who currently have one point, to finish on ten points. :( In group G Motherwell need a penalty shoot-out win in their home game against East Fife to finish on 10 points.

The good news is we could still get Airdrieonians, Motherwell or Livingston even though we won't be seeded! :)

Of course, we have to beat Forfar first.

A poor result at Links Park v Montrose.

However, an excellent attendance of 1618 fans.  Three times Montrose's normal crowd.

Fantastic crowd at Central Park of 859 for our match . The Blue Brazil  normally get around the 300 mark, if that.

I have noticed their attendances as low as 150-200.

Aberdeen
Airdrie
Ayr United
Celtic
Hearts
Hibs
Kilmarnock
Livingston
Morton
Motherwell
Partick Thistle
Rangers
Ross County
Stirling Albion
St Mirren

& 1 of Dundee, Hamilton or Raith Rovers if Dundee win by more than 1 goal they go through as 3rd best runner up I believe.

If they win by 1 goal all 3 teams have 9 points and plus 3 goal difference so would go down to goals scored I would think.

Ayr United, Airdrie and Motherwell will be seeded as 3 best group winners.

St Mirren will then play one of the European 5 & the 3 mentioned above.

As long as it's a home game we should be fairly confident. 😉

Away from home our form has been horrible for years apart from when no fans were allowed[emoji1745][emoji1745][emoji1745].

TBH our home form wasn't that great until last season so that, IMO, gives us an advantage for almost any home tie.

Fact it is seeded probably means we will  not be at home.

I think half of the seeded teams are at home and the other half away.

That's what it looked like looking at last seasons round 2 matches.

How does that work? Is it not just random - a seeded pot and an unseeded pot?

They would just alternate which pot is chosen from first for each tie.

You can tell it's been a few years since we made the draw when none of us know how it all works 😭

I would prefer a local away trip, but Ayr, Airdrieonians or Motherwell at home is the best we can hope for, really.

You just know it's going to be Celtic at parkhead.

Home draw, that's good enough for me. :thumbs2
