Good result yesterday against a team which managed to make life difficult despite their recent loss of form.
Two issues, one of which I've mentioned before.
    1. Why so many long balls up to our front players, who are not tall? As well as yesterday's game, this has happened too much recently, noticeably against Livi and Dumbarton, both teams who have big defenders. Against them our ball players have little chance of collecting these high passes. The goal that won the game for us yesterday was the result of a quick passing movement with the ball kept on the ground. More of this, please.
    2. I've previously stated my opinion that we need a strong tackler in midfield to break up attacks and give the defence more protection. That's why other teams are starting to create more chances against us. It's good to see that some others on here agree with me on that. Until we get someone like Jim Goodwin in the middle of the park, we'll be living dangerously.
Despite all that, it's great to see us back on top of the league and I trust in our management team to do something about these points.
Tough games coming up v Queen of the South, United and Morton, so.......COYS!!

We have had lots of FK opportunities just outside box this season which we have not taken advantage of and I am sure stevie would have scored a couple. I like mc Shane and mcginn but think they have been pretty inconsistent this season. Going forward they have been good but their defensive capabilities are not great

I know his old man posts on here but I would have thought he would have encouraged him to go elsewhere. Barnsley were always going to be whipping boys in that division stevie is a great player in a dominant team but he is not a battler I don't know if it's just financially he went there but seems a strange decision to me. Would love him back though would genuinely think we would win the league if he came back

    My thoughts from today.
Stellios = idiot. Before the referee had reacted I said he’s off.  His honeymoon period is over, he has no discipline. I’d be surprised to see him start again for a long time.
Samson needs to learn to catch/hold the ball.
McGinn needs to move the ball on quicker, don’t invite the challenge and should have fouled their player in the build up to the goal.
Squad needs strengthened in January. One player out and we can’t keep the same system.
Frustrating day and could be costly come May. Even at 11 v 11 it looked like we were going to really struggle.
Morgan won’t be going anywhere if he plays like that every week. Hopefully he can pick it up and find a bit more consistency like he had at the start of the season.
Still have faith in Jack and the squad, need to bounce back next week with 3 points at Brechin.
Hope the fan who was taken out the west stand by the first aid crew is ok.

    Happy 29th birthday Stephen McGinn!

I think Stephen might enjoy a very happy birthday on Saturday.

We always seem to struggle against Dumbarton and Saturday may be no different as they are a dogged and well organised side but I think we will keep our performance levels high and will win this one.

The confidence is growing in the side again and I think the place will be busy and extremely positive on Saturday.

Black and White Army football day out on Saturday for the guys that play at the dome on Monday and Wednesday night. We have between £500-£600 in the kitty. See you in the 1877 club from 1ish for some pre and post match antics. :-)

Get in touch with your fellow buddies and get them down to St Mirren Park as this side are going places. That includes you faraway saint. ;-)

Would love to see a crowd of 4,500 plus on Saturday.

Our lads are definitely starting to play with belief now.  Even though Reilly didn't have his shooting boots on last night I thought his work rate was unbelievable.  We launched a lot of aimless balls up at him and he bust his balls to get to all of them and didn't let the big livi defenders push him about. My m.o.m  for sheer workrate and fight. We need exact same against dumbarton but fancy they will really sit in.

Fantastic 3 points there. Insert tough place to go and other clichés about Inverness.

Looked like a cracking support we took up there too. Fair play to any Saints fans who made the journey up there and back on a miserable November day, you deserved that win as much as anybody.

Also kudos to Gavin Reilly. He’s proved me and many others wrong, looks like he’s going to go well over 20 goals this season.

    Here’s a report
We took the lead with an Ian McShane penalty on the 52nd minute.  They lost the plot a bit and Vigurs got sent off with 10 minutes to go. Our fans were brilliant and sang the team home, Gavin Reilly sealed it near the end.

I genuinely can’t explain how good our support was, ridiculously loud, the team came to us at full time to show appreciation.

    Love our club.

What a great bunch of results for us today. Sounds like we dug out a brilliant result. Big thumbs up for the team, management and hardy souls that travelled up there today. Sounds like the buds fans gave great backing too. Having a pint tonight with my mate who's a big Wolves fan, who are flying too. Going to be a happy gathering. I love it when we win!!!!

So how do we get off with posting pictures of a morton mascot being hanged in an official club magazine? I could name various other times we’ve had a joke about our rivals in an “official” capacity
The double standards are ridiculous. If we’re gonna adopt a dictators approach to our ground and the rules, even when it comes to a derby, the game really is over

    1) The world has gone PC mad if you can’t make a cheeky dig on a banner at your rivals. If anyone was genuinely offended then they need to lighten up. Get a grip of yourselves.

    2) To ban these guys is an absolute disgrace and I find it a bit insulting actually (and this comes from someone with no connection to this group whatsoever who sits over in the main stand).

The atmosphere that these guys (combined with a decent team) have created in their own time and at their own cost, has vastly improved the match experience recently. Let’s not forget attendances are up and the players have spoken about the feel good atmosphere at the ground.

To slap a ban on these guys without any discussions is arrogant and unappreciative

    3) To this group of fans - see my first point above but if you thought there might be repercussions then why make the banner? Don’t go looking for conflict with the club - thankfully you’re not the green brigade so don’t act like them. Work with the club not against each other

    4) Petty threats of silent first halves etc come across as immature. You’ve got the backing of most fair minded saints fans at the moment - don’t alienate us with this sort of nonsense.

If the club don’t budge then by all means let the world know you feel let down and totally disheartened. Then move on and do what you normally do on a Saturday and get behind the team.

We all want a successful team and to enjoy going to the games on a Saturday. If you can help in the smallest way by singing throughout the game etc. then do exactly that. If the club don’t appreciate it take it up with the relevant people at the end of the season and you’ll have the majority of the punters behind you.

My mates treated me to hospitality v Dundee Utd for my 40th back in 2013, the week before the cup final. It was a dull draw, but everyone had their minds on the final.
We had an amazing day, piling through from Fife in a minibus, wetting our whistles early doors. Connor Newton and Paul Dummett presented me with a bottle of bubbly from the club after the game; little did I know they would be heroes the next week.
Anyway, my point is Danny took the time to speak to me and my mates (mix of allegiances: Dundee fans, Utd, Celtic and even a Wolves fan in the group) and Danny was absolutely brilliant. My mates still talk about it being one of their best days out anywhere.
I was so proud of my club that day, the fans, the players and the club staff, but our 5 minute blether with Danny was the highlight for me and my mates. His polite patience, listening to my view on the lineup for the final was impressive too and he had great banter with all of us. He always represented our club with pride and seemed to have time for everyone, even a bunch of well oiled 'football experts'.
I'm sure many buddies have similar recollections of Danny and wish him awe the best in his new job.
