Nigel Hasselhoff Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 He's got the swagger. Think he'll be good Quote
Stu Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 Saw the goal on Sky Sports News, superb. Made even better by the fact he skinned that fud Kevin Thomson twice! Quote
Kombi Buddie Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) they waxed lyrical when Rooney hit one, aged 17, for Everton v Arsenal. Rooney's 35 yard screamer v Stephen Mallan ripping Dundee a new one is a no contest. A Cracking goal Edited December 27, 2014 by Kombi Buddie Quote

They've shown the goal about five times already that I've seen and they are definitely commenting on it with extreme enthusiasm. So much so the lads stock must have risen already to the six figures. pozbaird Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 So that's that then.... 'Celtic to run rule over Saints starlet Mallan'. One week, one month from now. Who knows? Put your mortgage on it. Quote

TopCat Posted December 27, 2014 Author Report Posted December 27, 2014 Give him a new 3 year contract right now. Quote

JJ McG Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 Is the boy Mallan a st.mirren fan? Sometimes goes in your favour if they are? Quote
TopCat Posted December 27, 2014 Author Report Posted December 27, 2014 I don't like to get carried away... But I'm going to. I believe this player is further on currently than McLean or McGinn were when they were his age. He's better than they were when they were 18 and a few months. I fully expect him to play for Scotland one day. Said I didn't like to get carried away... I actually did quite like that Quote

I actually did quite like that Like I said in another post there are a lot of good things happening at our club and the youth team is a big part of it. That is why its so important that we make the right . appointment as manager. We need to appoint someone who sees the youth as a great asset to be developed and not as an opportunity to free up some wages. Mallen is good and is one of our better players but Baird is outstanding at tU20 level and looked very good in his two senior games, I'd like to see Yacub get some game time. There's plenty talent there ETA Wee lesson for Doran there as well Edited December 27, 2014 by insaintee Quote
billymehmet1 Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 I'm sure his dad played lower league football Quote

Dirty Sanchez Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 I'm sure his dad played lower league football Mallan's old man famously scored from 40+ yards with a header in the Junior Cup Final. Quote

weeian1877 Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 His dad was sitting a couple of seats along from us today. After the goal I seen him wipe a few tears from his eye's. Well chuffed for both of them!! Quote
Drew Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 I thought he was a stand-out last week. He looked very much the part and his deliveries from dead balls were excellent. Fantastic to see kids with this level of ability coming through. Quote

Alba Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 Am I right in thinking that seven of our starting eleven yesterday were products of our youth system? Great sign that. Quote

As an afterthought, not really off topic, after all.Jimmy Mallan scored for the Burgh in the Hampden cup win, and HIS Faither - who died REALLY young (in his 40s?) - played for Saints: Jim Mallan (came from Shellic). Wonder if the new Mallan Buddie is related? Btw a found a bit about burgh winning the cup about 2/3 down this pie and Bovril page http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/195606-old-photo-thread/ Edited December 28, 2014 by bluto Quote
