Great performance today got to admit I wasn't happy at the start of the game because stelios was on bench but thought Eckersley had excellent game as did many others.

Absolutely brilliant display . I love watching this team. play with flair and confidence. Mallan goal is the best I've seen at St. Mirren Park. Jack Ross and his coaching team have done a amazing job. Coys.

Stelios came on, flicked a ball up and over an opponent's head with the outside of his foot, ran around the guy who was inside-out by now and ran onto his own flick... he's a defender. Defenders in Scotland aren't supposed to do this sort of shit... it was magnificent and I roared with approval. If there was a B&W Army award for cult hero - the boy would be a shoe-in. He can play, he seems to have personality, and he entertains. Surely we need to see Stelios in the stripes next season.

I said to my mate earlier that he's a total enigma and folk love him for it. He's a player who is genuinely exciting and can change a game himself from as deep as full back. At this level, player like Stelios are a rarity.

He has started in (and starred in) our convincing wins.

People talk about him not being as good defensively as the other two yet the only time I remember a defensive error from him that cost us a goal was where he narrowly missed cutting out a ball out to the morton winger.

If he had cut the ball out he would have lead another attack, he missed and they went up and scored. I can remember lots of times that Irvine has cost us goals, and I can remember lots of times when Eckersley has lost possession putting pressure on us.

I agree Stelios is my favourite full back at the club.

Even in his "failed" outing as midfielder it was his ball through to Cammy Smith that freed him up to run directly at Dumbarton which caused them all sorts of confusion allowing him to slip in Kyle McGennis to score the opener.

I have very little to add to this constructive conversation.

I do wish to state though:

I think Stellios is a smashing player.  It is very rare to see such a two footed player with realy ability.  Stellios would start every time he was fit if I were the manager, Christ almighty his two goals against Hibernian fc demonstarted that for goodness sake.  I would start him, I would indeed.

I forgot to mention - big shout out to Jamie Langfield. During the pre-match shooting practice, a Rory Loy shot flew over the bar, and not far from me, smacked a Saints fan in a grey sweatshirt right in the face. The guy was wearing glasses, his glasses flew off and the poor bloke took a tumble on the gangway stairs. Rory Loy looked mortified. The guy was helped up by a couple of fans and they gave Rory Loy a thumbs up, and the shooting practice carried on. As the players left towards the tunnel, Jamie Langfield jumped the barrier, ran up to the fan (who's glasses were in two pieces), and made sure he was OK. It seemed that Langfield was indicating that he could get the trainer to check him if he was in trouble. The fan indicated he was OK, and Jamie Langfield gave the guy his gloves and his training top. We gave Langfield a round of applause. Well played Jamie Langfield.

I would advise anyone to go back to the Morton game highlights and watch the Morton goal. Stelios was pushing upfield, he went in for a tackle to win the ball, was a baw hair away from winning it, but the Morton player came away with the ball. What did Stelios do? Watch the footage and watch him, not the Morton player breaking forward. Stelios jumped up and ran back at full pelt almost the length of the field. He hesitated at the end, anticipating a cut-back. If he'd just kept going he would have cut the cross out. It was a valiant effort. The likes of Jason Naismith would have been blowing out his arse. No offence to Jason.
Apart from his goals, apart from being two-footed, apart from being a threat, apart from being skillful, and apart from having a great engine and looking like he cares... I cannot see what Stelios brings to St Mirren. Time we got rid of this dud.

And if he hadn't been playing against Hibs, who are better than Falkirk, David Gray would have had a much easier night and we might have got a 0-0.
I think the eagerness to paint Stelios as a bombscre defensively is turning Adam Eckersley into Paulo Maldini.

Get a grip. The guy is a passionate young man with obvious challenges in life. He's supporting his team and showing an interest in something positive. It's comments like yours that make people hide and not want to try and contribute to society. Poor show.

Jack's man management skills and popularity within the game will be very important when it comes to this summer's recruitment. Just heard Hamilton captain, Michael Devlin talk about Jack on Sportsound. Devlin was only 16 when Jack was there for a season at the end of his playing career. But he was absolutely glowing in his praise for Jack, how he took the time to speak him and help him where possible. He's getting a reputation in the game as a manager that players want to play for.

Things won't always go perfectly, but the team spirit, the style of football being played and the bond between the fans, the team and club could suggest that we've maybe got ourselves a wee gem here.

From the OS ... (good news indeed)
Lewis Morgan is making good progress after suffering his injury at the weekend, but manager Jack Ross has cautioned that there is no timescale for his return.
A scan has confirmed the winger has suffered no break but there is some ligament damage and bone bruising.
stmirren.com caught up with the 20 year-old yesterday and while there is no date for a return to action, Morgan is staying in a positive frame of mind as he the club enters it's last six matches of the season.
Saturday's 6-2 win over Ayr was the joint highest victory for St Mirren at the Paisley 2021 Stadium since opening in 2009. Morgan believes that the side have been due a result like that and was pleased it all came together in such an important match.

The three options seem fine in principal, however the costs seem a bit high:
Adult season tickets is fine but surely the club could give them out at a vastly reduced rate or even for free, if they can be sure they will be used by appropriate groups.
Hall of Fame boards should have been done years ago but if poz, who was involved in designing them, says they can be done a lot cheaper then that should be explored.
Instead of sponsoring a youth team, why not have a tournament for local youth teams at the ground, the dome or the training ground at the end of the season? SMiSA could sponsor it and the money could be used to give each kid a goody bag full of Saints related goodies. Plus the folk from the youth academy could use it as a scouting session to see if there's any decent talent out there.

The season ticket option - £6,000 is a hell of a lot of money and I think giving out free tickets to clubs and schools is something the club should continue to do on their own. I get the 'try and get more people through the gates/interested etc but I don't think SMISA should fund it.
The Boards....no idea about covering up etc but if its possible to cover it up go for it and spend the money on new ones.
Sponsoring a youth team...no great aye or naw for this tbh.
Right now no great ideas of what could do but do we need spend everytime, wouldn't it be nice to get a wee nest egg going...mibbe something bigger for the future?

Fantastic performance from whole team, so much quicker and sharper than Ayr.  Big blow losing Morgan coupled with losing Davis two of our main men in the resurgence but I think we have built up enough steam to see us over the the line. If nothing else it's going to be a right exciting run in to the season!

This game plus the Dumbarton one a week later remind me somewhat of the double header we had against 'Well & RC a coupla seasons ago.
Let's hope we do better this time around, it won't be easy as both of these teams will be well (sic) up for it but I guess we just have to remember we have the better players and make sure we match them for effort. I, for one, won't be conceding anything until after these two games.
    COYS!

I have a season ticket but would love to see the club do something like a £5 for adults and kids free or a £1 for Raith game get a 7,000 plus crowd.

Alternatively as you say maybe do something like £25 for both Ayr and Dumbarton game. Something to think about and publicise straight after we hopefully win the cup. Tap into the feel good factor while the going is good.

The club have to think on their feet el pronto as you won't get this level of interest every season with so much to play for.

My Celtic supporting brother in law has been to about 5 games in last couple of months and seen us win everyone of them. He is now hooked and took my wee nephew down to Dumfries today for their first saints away game. Both coming to the final next week and absolutely loving the St Mirren experience.

Well I'm glad I proved a lucky charm
Thought that was an excellent win. Deserved to win through bossing the parts of the match that mattered and being clinical with chances.
First half was iffy, Baird and Mackenzie looked like an accident waiting to happen - they couldn't handle Dobbie and nearly sold O'Brien down the river with two or three appalling backpasses. But second half they upped their game and McGinn shielded them well, while Queens became easier to defend against because Irvine and Eckersley were absolutely rock solid in the full back positions so they had to funnel all their attacks through the middle.
Would probably pick Lewis Morgan for man of the match, he got in behind their defenders all afternoon and won the crucial penalty, but Mallan finished his chance brilliantly and kept the midfield humming over well. Didn't feel like Loy and Smith got into it as much but Saints easily did enough, controlled the game well once they were 2 up.
That puts you in a much more positive position and I'm delighted. The fans were absolutely brilliant, made one hell of a noise and never stopped singing. Good luck for the rest of the season and I daresay I'll be visiting Paisley before too long.
