You two are definitely more Torville and Dean than Morcambe and Wise.
Gloating? we won a meaningless pre season friendly against a team who have a weaker squad than last year and are behind us on their pre season schedule.
I only came on to see what St Mirren fans were saying about the game because i'd much rather hear about our performance from a non Morton supporter. How was i to know i'd strike comedy gold in yours and buffs patter? This night couldn't get even better now that my sister is sitting on my face.

Whatever the result this has the potential to be a cracking game of football and I truly wish I was there to see it. Dundee utd have got some exciting young players but so have we. In the few games I've seen, John McGinn has the potential to go to the very top. His style and attitude remind me of players in years gone by. He is the kind of player I would include even when he is off the boil, he has that bit of magic you might only need once in a game. You might have gathered he is my favourite saint at the moment! Anyway, back to the game. If we win this tomorrow it would be a huge confidence booster for us. I just worry that if utd score the first goal our heads will go down which seems to have happened the last couple of games. Let's take the game to them, score first and we are on our way! COYS!

I'd agree with this. United play a 4-2-3-1, and their threat is with their four attacking players. I'd match up, play 4-2-3-1, DVZ in right mid, Grainger left mid, with both of them helping out Naismith / Kelly, Newton and McGinn in the holding roles in midfield, and McGowan further forward, in an attacking midfield role. I'd drop Goodwin and Harkins and McLean would miss out for tactical reasons. This would mean each of Utd's best players would have two players to contend with. When we have the ball, we'd need to use the wings to get at them, plenty of crosses into the box as I think United's vulnerabilities are at the back.

For this game I hope DL realises that we need to cover the wings (and I don't mean a 747). I have noticed the last few games that teams have a man wide right/left and we lack cover. Newton showed on Saturday that he drifted into centre mid and then had to back track fast to cover the guy on the wing. I am not criticising Newton here, only using it as an example as it happened on both wings. If a FB goes forward, a midfielder should drop back to cover that area. We were left badly exposed with 2 CBs, while the backs had gone forward, with no cover at all, and hence a big part of the defeat

    Dear Danny,
Of course you don't have to play this formation or these players, it's just my preferred option, I'd still be happy if you played Mair instead of Darren or cheesy and I admit Goodwin adds bite to the midfield but he's having a wee run of poor games.I'd be more than happy to drop Reilly if Teale was fit or you saw something in training that suggests that caprice would be a better option. The only thing I really insist on is that you stop trying to put Harkins and Gowser in the same team. Harkins may still turn out to be a good signing should Gowser be unavailable in January but they can't play together.
    Cheers

Iv'e been a fan for over 35years and you could count in the 1 hand the amount
of years we've been better than inconsistent, but there's been plenty of years
when we've been consistent, "consistently shite", for a team that has one of the
lowest home crowds and budgets, and a board that wont spend a penny more
than comes into the club i think sitting 8th in the league and a national cup in the
trophy cabinet is pretty good going, some might say i lack ambition but i would say
i'm just realistic,,, as for you, feck knows how you ever made it through the 90s.....

When Goodwin has been out of the team weve been toothless in midfield. Despite his often stupid behaviour,Goodwin does the protection stuff well & lets our creative players play.

Tom Hendrie wasn't let down by the board, the board lived within their means and rewarded him a 5 year contract, a decision that they would later regret. Tom was so good he went on to be sacked by Alloa.
Gus McPherson had the same budget and was more successful in gaining promotion and keeping us in the top flight. However the standard of football was dire at times. Gus was so good he went on to be sacked by QOS
Danny has also had the same type of budget and won the cup and highest position in the league and tried to entertain with good football. The one advantage Danny has that the other managers didn't have is he is on a much more even playing field. The others had to compete with clubs that were living way out of their means and we were competing against International players that most SPL clubs had.
When it's all said and Danny is probably our best manager in the last 25 years, he has won a major trophy and guided us to our highest position in the league while trying to entertain the fans and also having an excellent relationship with them. The picture of him turning to watch the fans as the 3rd goal was being celebrated by us in the magical cup final will remain with me until I die and earn Danny legend status.
However he has lost his way a bit and the past doesn't guarantee the future, if he doesn't sort out our current shortage of squad options then he could lose his job just as the other managers did.

Ah yes I agree with the initial sentiments of Mr Hughes in his blue suede shoes as stated above, agree indeed.
I am going to repeat some of the very good points that Mr Hughes made but I shall do it in a slightly differing format as I feel it is of the upmost importance that our fan base, particularly the teenagers amongst our number appreciate what we have been through since the last great national cup win of the year of 1987.
*Finished bottom of the Premier league but saved from relegation due to league reconstruction
*Again finish bottom and we are heartbreakingly relegated.
*We immediately hit a financial brick wall and many of our star players were immediately released to save our club from extinction
*Despite having some fine players such as Norrie McWhirter and Paul Lambert (and Robert Dawson) we travel to Raith Rovers and spend the first fifteen minutes singing "we're going to win the league" but are 4-0 down at half time (I think) and 7-0 at the final whistle.
*Fail miserably to gain instant promotion to the Premier league
*We exist firmly as a first division team and our financial crisis is fast becoming a life threating condition to our beloved club.
*The boardroom is in turmoil and a certain Reg Brealey comes dangerously close to taking control of our club (the same man who ruined Darlington fc and had a warrant out for his arrest in India for maintaining a factory in such poor condition).
*Mr Stewart Gilmour takes control of the club, the full extent of the financial mess is revealed and we are facing an almost impossible task in saving our club.
*The financial mess threatens closure of our club at any moment, Smisa is set up who initially pay for things such as clean towels for our players and a painter to paint the old lady that was Love Street, yes it really was that bad.
*The prospect of part time football is becoming a real possibility as our beloved team now consistently fail to sign players due to clubs such as Ayr Utd often offering higher wages.
*We tumble down the table and this culminates in a game at Stirling Albion where anything but a far from certain win will see us slide to the second division and certain part time football, we win 1-0 and cling onto first division status by the skin of our teeth.
*At this point our chairman is talking openly about having to sell Love Street in order to save the club, if this doesn't happen it is all over.
*Managerial changes abound we start the millennium season as second favourites for relegation, amazingly we win, win again and keep winning, in a season none of us thought possible and against all odds we actually win the first division and back to the SPL, what a night that was.
*The euphoria fails to last as we blow a healthy lead over Dundee Utd and its back to the first division with us (some say as mant as 14 points).
*This time we fair better in the first division, finishing in the top half each season until we yet again return to the top table of Scottish football and as a bonus we win the challenge cup along the way, what nights they were.
*The Labour run Renfrewshire council do the upmost to scupper a perfectly good deal to save our club, our future is not secure after all.
*Fan power and the political will of the Paisley public come to the fore as a vote is held at the Paisley district court on the deal to save our club, realising the weight of support is against them Renfrewshire council are forced into a U-turn and the deal to sell Love street is on, we might survive, in fact it looks like we will.
*Our first season in the SPL is hard and only a miracle comeback against Motherwell see's us maintain our status, what a night that was.
*Then onto the Falkirk years where we twice have to get results against Falkirk away to stay up, we do it, what nights they were.
*A heart breaking but exciting moment arrives where we leave Love Street for the last time, I cried, and then moved into our new home, I cried.
We reach the league cup final, a fairy tale is on, we play great, the evil Govan wrongdoers go down to 9 men, we cant lose but yet we do, hard to take.
*In 2013 we are where we are, shiny new home, decent squad, a league cup run looks to end against a very strong Celtic side but we prosper, onto the final and the fairy tale is complete as our beloved team bring the Scottish league cup home to Paisley for the first time ever.
What a long way we fell after 1987 and what a long we have risen. None of us know what the next quarter of a century hold for our club as the last one will illustrate. Celebrate and enjoy this as long as we can.

I think any Buddie that was there , will never forget that day , never. Our phenomenal support that day will always be remembered . We had a much larger support at the final but those of us at Semi -final , we never went quiet we sang and cheered for the full game we drowned out the "best fans in the world" , which was something I was only aware of when l watched it on the telly . I lost my voice twice and will remember wee SPS singing at the top of the stairs on the way out " Where's yur treble gone. ."

399 mins without a league goal and we have failed to score in 6 of our 8 away games in the league to date.
Adam Campbell looks like he will add pace to our attack and for me that is the main thing we are lacking.
Isma arriving last January transformed our season, only hope the wee ginger ninja can have the same impact.
