I keep saying it, you can't criticise him. He's Teflon coated. If you are over-critical, 1998 is brought up, and you are asked if YOU bought shares at the time. If you try the 'Gilmour, Gilmour, GTF' tack - you're beat again. People will respond 'He IS trying to GTF, and has been for five years'.

This. Hamilton Accies and Motherwell are about 5 miles from Sellik Park, and Lanarkshire is a hotbed of choosing the green or blue side of the divide. Partick Thistle are in the same goddam' city as the 'OF'.

the big indicator for me is two or three years ago we kept Jim Goodwin after he had contract talks with Hibs and signed Dougie Imrie for 35k outbidding Dundee United. Now we're back to the days of star players going to rivals for amounts deemed (in footballing terms) not very much. That, to me, signals a step back.

I think what most people are getting at, is the fact other players from smaller clubs are receiving higher transfer fees for less experienced players and by a very large margin.You cant tell us the boy Macleod from the zombies for example justifies his sale price against McLeans?

Irrespective of any 'release clause' factor in McLean's departure from St Mirren for £0.275M, the BoD should hold their heads in shame at this despicable piece of business. Their incompetence is breathtaking and has made us the laughing stock of Scottish football.

Finally calmed down enough to comment 'rationally' on McLean being sold to Aberdeen for 275k. (275 f'king k!)
McLean was out of contract last season and as we offered him a better deal we would have been entitled to a development fee. No club wanted to pay the development fee and so McLean either had to sign our deal or force being frozen out the game.
Now we all hear about 'football' being a business these days so why the f'k would you allow one of your biggest assets to have a 'gentleman's handshake' allowing them to walk away for the square root of f'k all.
Don't get me wrong McLean deserves a chance at a bigger club, but when you see the amount of money being spent on some players of similar calibre, it's an absolute disgrace that he's went for such a small sum. Should have been anything between 500k-1M. Especially when he could be he difference between staying up or going down.
The BOD have once again shown that they are well past their sell by date.

It's a blow, yes. Is it such a blow that it will now require a 'miracle' to keep us up? No, that's ridiculous. We are 6 points ahead of Ross County who occupy the only automatic relegation spot. Us losing Kenny McLean doesn't suddenly make them better.
It also gives us scope to bring in another player today, and with the return of Thompson and the signings of Dayton and Arquin we have options going forward that we didn't have a month ago. These experienced forward players will have to step up and I think they will. It's bad news certainly, but it's far from Armageddon.
