Too many fans acting like f**king jilted teenagers over the last few days.

Jack has been brilliant for this club over the last 18 months and this is unquestionable. Yet, the minute his leadership attracts the interest of other, bigger, clubs who would pay him ridiculously more money we’re hearing things about his lack of professionalism (not this poster) the uncertainly and speculation he attracts (see 18 months of success), his “approach to career building” (WTF?), his heart not being in it and dragging up a mess from years ago that is (or certainly f**king should be) long forgotten.

It’s almost as if some of you want to to get your digs in before he moves so you can justify your emotions in the aftermath by reminding everyone you had seen through this man anyway and we’re better off without him. Just like, if you go back to my original point, many young lovers act when they get dumped for the first time.

This is how football is these days and has been for a long time now. Jack owes us f**k all. The partnership has been mutually beneficial and if he chooses to better his career and financial prospects with a bigger club then he should do so with our blessing for the style of football and success he’s brought to us.

I honestly despair with St Mirren fans sometimes. Less than three weeks after clinching the title and some have resorted to type. Get over yourselves.

Also, since when would Ipswich be regarded as a “hell hole”?

Totally agree with this. As someone else who lives a good distance from Paisley, the forum is my 'go to' place to get all the latest news and views about the Buddies. This is not available in my local area. I don't use social media outlets, so I really need the forum to keep me up to date with what's happening at St. Mirren Park.
I also really enjoy the debates that go on here. If an argument develops that I'm not interested in or find boring, I just skim through the posts till I get back to something I want to read, and no harm done. I would just echo StanleySaint's plea that, before posting, contributors consider whether their comment is going to add to the debate.
PLEASE keep the forum just as it is.

As those of you who haven't skimmed anything I have posted will know I am in England where coverage of anything saints related is even less likely than in the bigot bros obsessed press at home. I don't do facebook or twitter and for me the forum is a place where saints related material is readily available and in the most part entertainingly discussed. I don't comment on anything I'm not prepared to get involved in a protracted discussion about but I do read just about everything posted. Yes there are posters who effectively argue with themselves and those who will never agree to disagree despite that being the obvious situation from early on in the discussion. I'm grateful for Div's perseverance and for those who take the time to post but there is a need for everyone to look their activity and decide whether it adds to the forum or makes it something that isn't as inclusive as it should be, but for my mind it is a useful and largely enjoyable pastime, long may it continue.

pondsman got a reaction from St.Ricky in Farewell To The Official Matchday Programme ?
Back on topic. Sad to say, the day of the match programme is probably coming to an end. When they were introduced, they were the only source of detailed information about a club and its players. Hence the practice of collecting them, as a link to the club's history and achievements. But the world has moved on, I'm afraid.
While older supporters continue to buy programmes largely out of habit (hence the digression into rituals in the posts above), a large amount of programme content is also available on the club website and social media outlets. This is where younger supporters will access it because it's where they access nearly all of the information they require for their lives.
    Sad but true.

I occasionally pop over to P&B for a wee read (yes, I know....), and have been surprised at some of the posts from Saints fans suggesting that Morgan needs to 'bulk up/hit the gym'.
Lewis did just that before the start of season 16/17, now has considerable upper body strength, and is in no way a lightweight.
This notion that he could get bullied on account of his stature doesn't really cut it for me. He might get a bit of treatment, but that will be because he is a very good player, not because he is a wee wimpy laddie (he clearly isn't!).
Whilst out injured, Kyle Magennis 'hit the gym' and came back looking much bigger in terms of his physique.....too big, as it happened. He lost mobility and pace as a result, and had to lose some of the muscle mass he had developed.
The lad Quitongo at Morton has a similar issue. Too much time in the gym, and not enough practice with the final ball, in his case.
Morgan will always be subject to physical challenges, as that is usually the only way to effectively stop him getting past you, and putting on a bit more bulk won't alter that fact.  As it is, he isn't easily out-muscled or 'bullied'.  He just needs to keep doing what he is doing whilst further developing certain aspects of his game, such as knowing when to release the ball and when to use his pace and trickery a bit more effectively to create space for others.

Returning to the title of the thread, if anyone has any influence on this (though it's probably already too late for next season), can we please have traditional broad black and white stripes on the home strip and please, please, please, NOT that checked red and white disaster that we had this season for the away strip. It really hurt my eyes.

As everyone has pointed out on the numerous other threads it will depend solely on our performance.  Fans are fickle and ours are up there with the best of them in that respect.  If we are struggling it will be back to the hard core 2500 or so but if we are holding our own or even outperforming previous prem campaigns then it will be up around 3.5-4.5k home fans.  Away supports will not be as  large as you think. The ugly ones will sell their allocation but then you need to factor in the number of home fans who avoid those games like the plague (ST holders included).  Your Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Partick (?) Motherwell will bring 1000 on a good day but way less if it's a Sunday or midweek. Killie as usual will probably see the biggest home crowds of the season.  Dundee, Fakes, RC and any other promoted team will likely bring very few as usual.
Crowds will be what they will be Ricky - why your obsession over something completely outwith your control ?
I'd be moreconcerned with the team on the park rather than the numbers in the stands. We are where we are in that respect - struggling like most other clubs in Scotland !

That would just make us look like a smaller version of Killie. Having a stadium only 1/3 full doesn't look as good as a smaller stadium looking 1/2 to 3/4 full. Long term it would mean higher maintainance costs as well.

McCart was an emergency loan when we were down to 1 CB
Stewart (GK) hasn't had much chance as Samson has been decent all season, and hasn't been injured or suspended.
Buchanan was alright, scored goals (we've missed him at set pieces since he left) and my reckoning is he was part of a swap (plus cash?) deal to get Mullen in. Hence why Donati was then brought in, mainly just as extra cover, JR wanted to prioritise other areas once we were back to 4 fit CBs.
Hill (like Donati) was brought over in January when we were playing well. Only Flynn and Mullen has managed to gain a place in the starting XI from the Jan signings.
A few on here believe there's a talented player in Todd and he's just been unlucky with injuries during his time in Paisley.
As for the others, no manager is perfect. I think the fact that Jack took us from "club on the way to League One" to "club heading to the SPL) shows that his signings generally are on the money.

Special mention to John Sutton who has not played so much recently, but has been with the club long enough to know just how much this season's success has meant to the supporters and who saw his contract out with dignity, never giving less than 100% to the job.

Many congratulations to Lewis for winning Championship Player of the Year. A clear and worthy winner. Head and shoulders above the other players in the division.
Also nice to hear him give credit to his manager and the rest of the team.
Thanks for what you've done for our club, Lewis, and all best wishes for the future.

I have said for months he will most likely start the season with us but as managers start to lose jobs in September, October, November i think somebody somewhere will make Jack Ross a job offer that he might not be able to refuse.

If I was Gordon Scott would be keeping one eye on who we could maybe get to succeed him as we don't want the next manager ruining all Jack's good work.

No surprise that JR has been nominated. However, he has some tough opposition and if Celtic win another treble, there can be only one winner.
While it would be nice to see JR's achievement recognised with a national award, I'm sure he's well aware of what the last 15 months have meant to our club and its supporters. National award or not, he has made himself a legend with us!
