Your post makes no sense whatsoever. Gary Teale sidelined Goodwin while we got relegated from the SPL and Alex Rae got rid of him during the close season after keeping us up. Once Goodwin left for Alloa that's when Rae got off to a bad start in the league and was sacked by September.

How could it have been avoided? The club signed Jack up to a new contract recently and we have no control over when other clubs sack their managers.
We could have tried to avoid it by Tony having a word with Jack to bollock him for reviving the club and saving us from relegation last season, and telling him to stop being so successful this season.

Yeah but they have United to play twice, us to play twice, Morton to play 3 times and they also have to go to Dunfermline. So 8 of their remaining 13 games are against the 4 best teams in the league. They will not finish within 20 points of us!!

Looks like United have fallen for the "if they play a English Premiership club, they must good line" - these loan signings from Watford surprisingly not doing them any good!

Stokes, Murray....what planet are you guys living on.  A more disruptive player you could not get in Stokes and Murray is a very promising striker who is way out of our price bracket both in transfer fee and no doubt wages. Get real !

Biggest issue with expectations is managing them. I'm pleasantly surprised we are where we are but being of a certain age, this season is not giving me the confidence I felt in either the Hendrie or Gus league winning seasons.  I don't for some reason seem to have the same faith this time round that we are going to see this through. I'm not saying we won't it's just a nagging gut feeling I have had all season that we seem to be doing better than the sum of our parts (which of course in itself is a good thing).  I don't even have a logical reason for this it's just a gut feeling. On thinking why I can only put it down to the numerous years of abject misery over the last while has slightly tainted me.  I hope we see it through and we have given ourselves a real chance.  Question is would a play-off from this position feel like a boot in the baws, answer probably yes and that would probably go for the players too so we really need to put everything into the next 3 months or so to see us over the line. Friday is huge, a game for all sorts of reasons we really need not to lose. A win would be collosal in so many ways but a point would be no disaster in the bigger picture.

Kenny Burns was a striker when Nottingham Forest signed him but Brian Clough played him at centre-half. It worked quite well.

McCart's loan deal will expire after this weekend anyway.

Surprised that anyone has McShane pinned as a dud. I'd argue that he's been a very good signing. OK he's had the odd stinker but definitely far more good performances than poor ones. 

I'd be looking to move on Kirkpatrick long before I'd be looking at McShane who I think has been very decent.

Walsh is a good player. Maybe a bit lazy but there's a good player there.

Pish. Aitken gets paid to get results. He can be as negative and waste as much time as he wants. Much better than seeing your teams centre half's try to be a creative force.

We always seem to struggle against Dumbarton and Saturday may be no different as they are a dogged and well organised side but I think we will keep our performance levels high and will win this one.
 
The confidence is growing in the side again and I think the place will be busy and extremely positive on Saturday.
 
Black and White Army football day out on Saturday for the guys that play at the dome on Monday and Wednesday night. We have between £500-£600 in the kitty. See you in the 1877 club from 1ish for some pre and post match antics. :-)
