scottd reacted to TopCat in Ethan Erhahon
Not surprised to see him linked with a big move, he's a fantastic young player who has a big career ahead of him. Think it's best if he moves on and gets away from our boo boys, i just hope we get a big sell on percentage in place. He could make us a lot of money in the future.

Gary , the Morecambe fans forum is in uproar because he's leaving , giving it snake , rat etc Morecambe are in their highest ever position in league football history , and are in the mix for staying up with 5 or 6 other clubs.

Went into work this morning with a gloomy Broonie/Naisey shaped cloud hovering above my head; left with a wee spring in my step.
Hopefully the Robinson deal goes through. Good experience and track record up here, exactly what we should be looking for at the moment.

No complaints about Robinson, hope the rumour doesn’t get Squashed.

God bless the boo boys Motherwell never sacked him, he resigned. Motherwell fans almost universally speak highly of them, finished third and got them to two cup finals. He's been doing pretty well at Morecambe, they are the smallest club in that league and still in with a good shout of survival. Having a read of their forum he seems to have the backing of their support.
Knows the league and is a proven success in it. Has good managerial experience and a lot of contacts down south. Looks like a fantastic appointment to me!

It doesn't matter what manager we have you will still be bumping your stupid fucking gums every game how shite we are, you can't help yourself you're an inbred malcontent

That's more like it. Is he still at Morecambe? If so then you'd imagine he'd be getting a decent wage. Maybe he hasnt moved from Scotland and wants to come back.
-
scottd reacted to antrin in Steven Naismith
Another reason why I would respect Naismith is that he didn’t have an EBT with Rangers, was paid his dues without any illegal added benefits and when Rangers died he accepted that fact (that the old club was very deid!), did not allow himself to be baffled by the lies surrounding new Sevco and… walked away.
Fans of that new clumpany still dislike Naismith for exercising his right to market himself to a new club. In his case, Everton.
A decent, rational individual.

scottd reacted to FTOF in Scott Brown as our new manager? Surely not?
I'm sure there are plenty of experienced managers out there that would be be better than Naismith.
However, can we afford them?
I Would have Jack Ross back as he's a good manager and knows the club. However I suspect that he's either still being paid by Hibs and/or has an agreement not to manage another premiership team until the end of the season.
An experienced manager is my favoured option, but of the experienced managers that have been mentioned so far - meh at best.
If we're going down the route of untried manager then, like JJ, I'd prefer to Naismith over Brown.
We got lucky with Goodwin, in that he was a Saints legend and a decent manager. That type of manager doesn't exist at this point, so there's an element of risk with whoever we appoint.
The sooner the better though.
Whatever happens, if we appoint a good manager The Kibble will get no credit and if they're shite then it will be "all The Kibble's fault".

Scott Brown wouldn't bother me. Could turn out to be a decent punt.
A player that loves winning and hates losing, that has won everything in Scotland for years. Scotland International.
I'd be very surprised if Jim Goodwin knows how to set up a team better than he would.

Hope not

scottd reacted to faraway saint in The Jim Goodwin and Lee Sharp Appreciation Thread
Already been posted his record at Hibs, overall, was pretty decent.
They shat their pants after a poor run, and the rest is history.
His record with us was, IMO, was the best managerial performance in many a year.
Have him back in a heartbeat.

Sunderland on paper was an amazing opportunity. A club in the lower leagues with an EPL fanbase & big budget that could treble (at least) his wages. It’s highly unlikely any other St Mirren manager over the decades (including Jim Goodwin) would have turned that down.
I get fans being hurt by this sort of thing but we should be applying some realism to managers of St Mirren.
Goodwin obviously has at least some interest in the Aberdeen role which isn’t nearly as big a job as Sunderland. If he does go, I don’t see why people wouldn’t take Ross back. We aren’t likely to hire someone else that if he does well, won’t have his head turned by bigger opportunities.

Very strange comments going around social media about if jack comes they want reassurances that he won’t just leave.
he has every right to decide if he wants to move to a bigger club just like we have the right to punt him if he does a crap job.
I like everyone else got annoyed when he was signing our players but that’s him doing his job what he’s paid to do I wouldn’t want him coming here knowing he could get a player in from his ex club that would improve us but deciding it’s not fair on them il just leave him.
it’s pathetic from some fans imo.
if Jim leaves and jack is the best option out there that wants the job it’s a no brainer get him in.

Completely agree. 6 weeks ago Goodwins stock would have been a fraction of what it is now and he would never have been considered for the Aberdeen job. Even some in our support wanted him out. So just shows how quickly stock can change, you need to strike while the irons hot.

We are one of the form teams in the country, only Celtic have more points than us in the last six games. Only the two bigot clubs have lost less games than us this season.
Just one defeat in nine games and five wins out of six in 2022. We are sitting pretty in sixth spot with a game in hand on fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth. We are just one point off fourth and a European spot and we are as close to third as eleventh.. We are all but assured of top flight safety in February, for the second year running, it's now just a question of high we can finish.
Our next three games are Kelty, Livingston and Dundee. What a chance to extend the fine form further and put ourselves in a great position to finally finish top six. If we manage that fourth will be very achievable. What a time to be a Saints fan.
Jim Goodwin and Lee Sharp everyone

FFS, outrageous comparing the two cases.
You need to have a word with yourself, there's been some amount of utter shite posted about both players, but not comparable in any way.

scottd reacted to beyond our ken in Leigh Griffiths
I have reservations, but the manager seems to know what he is doing
I'd be disappointed with any fans who resisted a signing, disagree yes but leave the manager to get on with his business

Maybe bang in a hat trick ramorra.
That would be marvelous.
