Big_Mougie reacted to BuddieinEK in Sunderland Speak To Jack Ross
As I said on the Saints fans Facebook page...

    Best Saints manager since Fergie.
Achieved just as much in a shorter time!

His departure wasn't much different from that of Sir Alex, who is still worshipped!

Going to Sunderland was a no brainer.

They have only lost seven league games since he went there.

Man City have lost six in the same time period.

    Draws cost him.

Expectations by the Makems are unrealistic.

Put two premiership sides out the cup.

A few points off automatic promotion this early in the season even after a poor start!

He would have turned that around.

Those being smug about this are being petty and forgetting how much he did for us.

    No contest
Definitely, the greatest player to ever play for us was Victor Munoz.
Could you imagine us signing somebody now who captained Spain and Barca.

Shankland will be the highest paid player in the championship and the lower SPL sides
Ross Stewart has scored goals everywhere he has went
He will outscore any forwards we have barring injury
I think he will get double figures, he's akward and not pretty on the eye
But he's in the box and gets on end of things

Frank came into the Court bar a couple of seasons ago and me and the Mrs got talking to him. I asked him about a game I remembered when he was awarded a last minute penalty v Dundee United for Hamish Mcalpine allegedly stamping on him- Frank said that Mcalpine hadn't touched him but he had deserved it for being a wanker. Legend.

Maybe if every single other dirty stinking rag in the country wasn’t so pro-union the National wouldn’t have to be so overtly nationalistic.
I barely bought a paper before 2014 but i certainly haven’t bought one since. Not good for my already high blood pressure.

For me Baird is an alright old fashioned centre half. He puts his body on the line, is tough in the tackle and not great with the ball at his feet. I do think he has a career above Mortons level. I think he can do a job for us in the future.

Do I think he will achieve what Kirk Broadfoot has? probably not.

Could he do what Jason Naismith and Sean Kelly have done? Yes I think he could.

Jack Baird's league appearances for St Mirren:
2014-5 (The Tommy Craig / Gary Teale relegation season): 8
2015-6 (The Ian Murray / Alex Rae Championship season): 31
2016-7 (The Alex Rae / Jack Ross 'Great Escape I' season): 25
2017-8 (The Jack Ross Promotion Skoosh Season): 31
2018-9 (The Alan Stubbs / Oran Kearney 'Great Escape II' Season): 34
Jack's central defensive partners during the last 5 seasons: Ellis Plummer, Marc McAusland, Viktor Genev, Jim Goodwin, Andy Webster, Gary Irvine, Ben Gordon, Gary MacKenzie, Harry Davis, Gregor Buchanan, Jamie McCart, Cole Kpekawa, Josh Heaton, Alfie Jones, Mihai Popescu.
I make that around 15 other central defensive partners over 5 seasons - most of whom weren't good enough for the level required. Jack's appearance record suggests that apart from when Harry Davis and Gary MacKenzie were both fit he has been regarded as a starting XI defender for the last 4 seasons. He has played under 9 managers during his time with the 1st team.

    I'm not convinced.

Possibly with Broadfoot coming in (and most folks felt we needed cover at ch), and MacK / McLoughlin performing well to date, JG is looking forward to January when McLoughlin may return to his parent club.

At that point, he will have a match fit replacement ready to challenge rather than a rusty sub.

Maybe not, but I won't rule it out.

I’ve said it before but I don’t understand the boo boys agenda against Baird. Always gives 100% even in some of the dreadful teams he was lumbered with. Hope you’re back soon Jack

Jack never gives less than 100% and is one of my favourite players of recent years. He is still young and still learning. Plays better alongside a more experienced centre back.

I've completely cleared the reporting system of all previous complaints.
Starting from today I've made a note in my calendar to review each and every complaint that's made via the report button (this appears on each forum post) at 0930.
I'll review (and respond) to every complaint made on a daily basis (even if on some occasions I won't be able to make 0930).
If particular forum members are being overly abusive they will be sent to the sin bin for a period of reflection.
If, upon release from the sin bin, they continue to be the subject of reports for being abusive, they will be permanently banned.
All previous sin bin suspensions have now been lifted.
You've been warned. Play nice, or fuck off.

The strikers need good service, they’re not getting it. You could see the frustration with Obika when Andreu hit one past the post when if he’d left it, Obika would have burst the net. Just about every cross from the right missed everyone in the box.
Give the strikers the service then we can judge them.

They(sevco) have lost 1 game in nearly 20 in all competitions. Time some supporters had a reality check.
3pts and conceding 2 goals from our 3 difficult opening fixtures is a good start and something to build upon.

For most of last season we were so dire in defence that we were well beaten before the half time whistle.
Three league games into this season, all of them fixtures against big clubs, and our defence still hasn't conceded a goal before half time.
We are definitely heading in the right direction under Jim Goodwin.
