    The most amazing game I've seen. We outplayed Celtic in a Semi Final and won.
    If we beat Hearts in the final then this will do me for the rest of my life.

    The greatest performance I've ever seen from St. Mirren.
    Tactics were spot on.
    All the players were wonderful. However, some special praise for Marc McAusland, Gary Teale, Graham Carey and John McGinn.
    McAusland's cross for the third was incredible. Carey's defending was unbelievable. John McGinn is some player.
    And I love Gary Teale.
    I love them all, especially Danny Lennon.

    Steven Thompson – ‘We Need Your Backing’
    JANUARY 25, 2013 BY ADMIN On Sunday afternoon St Mirren head to the National Stadium to face Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
    Everybody knows that Saints’ striker Steven Thompson is a St Mirren fan and as such he has vivid memories of the 1987 Scottish Cup final but he hopes the fans will turn out in good numbers this Sunday at Hampden to hopefully create some new golden memories.
    He said, “My first ever St Mirren game was the Scottish Cup Final in 1987 when I was 9-years-old.
    “I felt as if I was in amongst a million St Mirren fans that day as there were so many of them at the game. It must have been such an inspiration to the players knowing they had such a backing.
    “I have no doubt that the 87 Scottish Cup winning team were helped and inspired by seeing half of the stadium was in the black and white of St Mirren.
    “If you are St Mirren fan out there who hasn’t decided whether you are going or not please go and give us your backing as it is such a help to the players when you can turn around and see and hear a support like that.”

    The midfield changes that often, Robertson has not had a chance to settle in the first team. He needs time to bed in and then he will settle into a good back to front midfield player. The prancing pony that is Mclean needs to make way for someone who's willing to do a shift and put the foot in when it's needed.

    Fed up with all of this 'we won't get anything because we're St Mirren' pish.
    If Hamilton Accies can command £1.2m up front for James McCarthy (risen to well over £3m now) and even £400k for an out of contract James McArthur, then we can get something in that region for Kenny.
    The ball is in our court with McLean, he has time left on his contract and there's no real need for us to sell him.

    St. Mirren's track record since you stated that Gilmour was "killing the club softly" has been to get the club out of the First Division, establish it as an SPL club, clear a £3 million debt, build a brand new SPL compliant stadium and deliver a brand new training complex.

    PICTURE 105 is the West End Cross or The Coffin En'. The Clock building was built in 1886 and is B Listed.
    The Alamo Burns Club has a couple of old photos on-line http://www.alamoburn...s/Page26082.htm .
    Great cryptic clue by Bluto with his wee illustrated joke. However smoking is no longer the pastime of some Westenders.
    I was born and brought up in the West End with many happy memories there. I was pretty disappointed when wandering about the day I took this photo at just how the area has deteriorated. Cropped out the shot are 4 junkie neds (one wearing the strip of a certain Glasgow team and a baseball cap) who had just come out the bookies next to the Bar point.
    'Hey you. Youse takin a fotie a me?' (when the camera obviously wasnt; pointing at them).
    'No. The Clock.'
    ' As long as you are no takin a f**kin fotie o me. Just dont point yer f**kin camera anywhere near me.'
    This conversation took place shouting at 50 yards apart on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Shortly afterwards an old lady saw me taking shots and came over and we reminisced for a wee while and she told me that after 50 years living in the West End she was now desperate to leave the area.
    However there are still some great buildings at the top of Well St / Wellmeadow and although not listed I'll feature some of them in due course.

    Hi DSS. I must admit that I have been tempted to record some of the more modern buildings but up until now I had plenty of beautiful old ones some of which require a higher profile if maybe they are to be saved. There are some fine examples, many not featured as yet, whereby an old building has had a new lease of life by being converted to living accommodation. The Nethercommon Carpet Factory, JNI, Brown & Polson etc to name just a few. The focus has been on our heritage but some modern buildings should be included in our adventure.
    The next image will be image 100 and I still have many more to feature and some more to photograph. On my wee expeditions I shall capture from now on some of the more modern buildings for comment. I'll start to feature them now and again. I can think of one that is, in my opinion, a very interesting building but will it still be around in 100 years? Maybe not. I lived in a house in Glenburn which had a lifespan of only 50 years before it was demolished. Unfortunately thats the way of modern buildings - not built to last, whereby many tenements in Paisley are over 100 years old and still going strong. In the meantime I'll get TGs iconic buildings out the way with a wee diversion now and then to modern stuff. Good idea.
    Edit: PS I hoped this thread may inspire all good Buds to tell their children a bit more about their heritage and maybe instil some pride in their town. I know my wanderings with my camera have certainly got me talking about Paisley in a far more positive light to anyone that will listen to me

    IMO, a Great Idea, although I like the seat I have at present. To go slightly further, could there not be a slight alteration to the full ST's, in that, e.g. if I wished to take my grand kids to the family stand for a couple of games, I would be able to use my existing ST smartcard, but still buy the grandkids tickets to take them in

    Yes. I often try and convince friends to come to a game, but then have to tell them that there are no guaranteed empty seats around my season ticket seat.
    If I could move my seat for a game to enable me to sit with friends it would help.

    Hello All
    I'm looking to canvas views in respect of a potential ticketing development that the club is currently considering. This is a longish one, but please bear with me.
    I've exchanged correspondence regarding this with the club's General Manager, Brian Caldwell, and Brian is happy for me to use the forums (here and the OS) to gauge whether there is any mileage in this idea.
    By way of some brief background, I emailed the club over the New Year period asking if there might be an option of a season ticket that is not seat or stand specific. Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting that his replace the current system. Instead, it would offer an additional facility that would afford non ST holders the opportunity to purchase a Smart Card with in-built flexibility to roam around the stadium as desired. The idea occured to me when, having given up my ST a few years ago, I enjoyed the freedom to take in matches from different areas of the ground. In any event, my old ST seat is now taken up by my mate's grandson, so I couldn't get the seat back even if I wanted to (fair enough).
    Despite not having any real urge to buy another seat-speciifc ST, I miss the convenience of rolling up on match day without having to faff about queuing for a ticket, and ensuring I've got cash at the ready (not least in the grim depth of a Scottish winter!). I also think that the club would benefit from supporters who, like me, find that a current ST doesn't really fit the bill, being in a position, nevertheless, to commit funds up front. In return, those who took up the offer of this type of ticket would have the convenience of a ST, and possibly a couple of other fringe benefits (see below).
    Brian was keen to explore options, while being clear that any new system shouldn't be to the detriment of standard ST holder, who could be considered the life-blood of the club. He gets no argument from me, there.
    Between us, we've come up with an option that might offer a way forward:

    on application, non-ST holders would be issued with a smartcard, and they could purchase games online for whatever area of the stadium they wish. The matches would then be loaded onto the card, in much the same way that cup matches are under the current system;
    games could be added to the card on a match-by-match basis, or a number of games could be pre-loaded. One suggestion to make the option of pre-loading matches more attractive, would be to offer a discount - possibly graded on how many matches are loaded onto the card. For example, buy any three matches, save 5%, or if 5 or more are purchased, save 10%. This way, the club can also benefit from some guaranteed advance income (in a similar manner that it does from standard ST sales). Full season standard STs would still represent best value, however;
    matches are purchased online, and an email receipt specifies the match details and the stand for which each purchase(s) applies;
    if and when the club create a supporters bar area in the void of the Main Stand (something that, as you know, is now being seriously considered), all smartcard owners could access this facility;
    standard ST purchases would always take precedence, and the second tier smartcard would be applicable in respect of other available seats.

    The benefits of such a system are pretty clear to me. I could demonstrate my commitment to the club by buying a ST of sorts, and would also enjoy the benefits of not having to queue for a ticket on matchday when the weather is hellish; I might be able to secure a modest discount if I pre-load matches (benefitting the club, in turn); and the club would be offering a more flexible approach to ticket purchase - something that could only be regarded as progress.
    I have to say that Brian has welcomed my ramblings on this matter, and is genuinely keen to explore whether this might be a viable proposal. We're keen to hear whether people think this might be an option they'd consider, or any possible shorcomings/issues with the initial concept as outlined above.
    Please feel free to offer any suggestions or criticisms as you see fit, but i'd be grateful if the thread remained relatively free of spamming as the club will be looking to access it for information and a sense of how people regard the idea.
    Ta much
    Drew

    I would second that. There was a lot to be commended in what 10,000 Hours tried and in some of what they achieved. Let's all let it go for the moment unless fan ownership really does look achievable at some time in the future. Let's just get behind our team.
