Ach, his interview wasn't that bad. Who else could run this website better than Div?

It's not all bad for Div though. His advert remains one of the few that you can actually read on the new scoreboard. Can we chip in for an advert that reads 'Scotland's drink driving limit changed on December 5th - don't let Tommy Craig drive you to drink'.

First post, although I've been a regular follower of the forum for years. You can tell by the hour of this post that I've been out on the town(St Andrews, since I moved from Paisley 24 years ago), so apologies if I'm bletherin' nonsense. My dad(like his dad) took me to Love Street regularly since 1979 and I have inflicted St Mirren on my own son(partly his choice) over the past 3 or 4 years, instead of taking him to Tannadice with his two Arab nephews. That's another topic of conversation, supporting local teams etc,,,,
We are at yet another turning point in the St Mirren saga/history and the Board have a difficult scenario to address. The decision of whether Tommy Craig is the right man to lead our club is not a difficult one....he clearly isn't and the BOD are wise enough to realise this. As has been stated on countless occasions on this forum, no one apart from the BOD will know why Tommy was gifted a 2 year contract(the cheap option doesn't explain the 2 year aspect???)
Gilmour and the rest of the Board are supporters, like us, and want the best for St Mirren, the difference being that although the pain cuts very deep and it is worrying and depressing to us, I haven't had sleepless nights over our predicament. I think the BOD have, and realise their monumental cockup with Craig's appointment. I am not an expert on our finances, but know that sacking Tommy is going to hurt our club (and possibly the BOD personally) financially, when they rightly sack him in the next few days. They made a mistake and we are where we are.
When Danny(Saints legend) left us, I thought it was the right decision as a new direction was required, but Tommy Craig was the most uninspiring appointment possible and that is without hindsight. The BOD will have to live with this cheap and narrow-minded decision, even after they hand over the reigns to whoever. This is yet another low point as a Saints fan, but we've been here many times.
My inebriated point this morning is that we all make mistakes and the BOD have made a massive one this season. We need to trust them to attempt to fix their mistake and bring in another manager that can build belief amongst the current squad and bring in 3 or 4 players in January, in key positions through the spine of the team. Surely they realise that the longer Tommy is in charge, the further we will sink, so they need to act after yesterday!!
Our family brick at St Mirren Park reads ," Bad times make good times great,", but I forgot how shi*e the bad times were.
Good luck Mr Gilmour, you have some serious work to do before you go on your holidays!!!

Been thinking about this, and really our league position does not befit our performances this season - we have not had our just rewards. I've done a bit of analysis.
We got our first three points against Partick Thistle courtesy of a dodgy penalty award with the last kick of the ball. Then another point after another last minute dubious penalty against Aberdeen when really we should have been about 5 down by then.
Add to that another 3 points against St Johnstone when they had two perfectly good goals ruled out, followed by a point at home against the brilliant Ross County, when they had another perfectly good goal chalked off for offside which would have put them 2-0 up.
Who says Scottish refs are bastards? We have been jammy feckers this season and should think ourselves damned lucky to have any points at all...

Interesting on BBC sport sound that while Billy Stark tried to defend TC re injuries Michael Stewart clearly stated what we have all been asking "why appoint TC who was DL's assistant? He also stated it was a strange appointment while referring to Tommy's statements about not scoring when the team lost 3 goals during Dundee Utd game (horrendous goals according to Stewart) and saying " surely you begin by sorting the defence out and making yourself hard to beat" "if you cannot defend and can't score then you have no chance". The guy talks sense imo.

    Fantastic season.

Why? He has personally cost us at least 6 important goals this year, not half the keeper he was last season.

Has to go. I won't be back until he is. Today was the straw that broke the camels back.

The BoD have to take responsibility. It was an absoloute joke to employ TC as the manager. They deserve praise for what they have done for the club in the past, but now as a debt free club, we are going backwards instead of forwards. A prime example of this - why have we not tried to get sponsorship for the stadium? Surley that would be an extra player every season?

TC is a joke. The BoD said budget was reduced by one player. If you take away some of the duds we've had the past few years (Bahoken etc) TC must have a bigger budget than DL had last season. Not one of his signings (apart from Plummer) has done anything worthy.

His first act in the role was to appoint Jim Goodwin, a thug, who has been outed many time on TV for his behaviour as his assistant/coach. This man is now serving a four match ban.

He has absoloutely no tactical awareness, it wasn't until a Q&A with fans that we actually started doing things differently with regards to set pieces.

I can't remember the last time we had an injury list as bad as we do. Coinsidence or just poor old school training by TC?

The whole of this season he has banged on about not being able to score goals. Has he forgot about our absoloute rotten defence that has needed fixing for the past several years.... when he has been here!

I'm sick of it all. Sick of the club being ran the way it is, and sick of the manager.

I do not feel sorry for Tommy at all.
I he had an ounce of decency, he would walk away realising he is not upto it.
He's clinging on , irrespective of how bad he is doing , if he won't make the decision, the board should.

Tom Hendrie.. after 1 great season the fans were screaming for his head..
John Coughlin.. virtually from the start the fans were screaming for his head..
Gus Macpherson.. hated by many, eventually most fans were screaming for his head..
Danny Lennon.. Good guy brought success, but in the end at least half were screaming for his head..
    Tommy Craig... see John Coughlin..
When are the fans of this club going to wake up and smell the coffee, what up and coming manager
with ambition is going to come to us, what manager with any credibility in the game would want to manage
us, this job is a career killer, our BOD would shite it to employ any manager with serious ambitions...
Its been nearly 5 years since we signed a recognised centre half, WTF is that all about....
We'll be rid of Tommy fairly soon but those who think they'll see a big improvement are living on cloud cuckoo land
Until the BOD leave, this club is going nowhere but down..
Poor Tommy he should never have been given the job in the first place, but what was SG excuse for getting rid of
Danny (I feel our club should have the ambition to make the top 6) so he give the job to Tommy and cuts the budget,
No wonder more and more of our fans just cant be fcuking arsed anymore...

Was up there and to be fair situation was dealt with all wrong, no point in St Mirren fans arguing all that had to be done was swap seats so they are at the back, simple solution and thankfully it happened!
Also put the good atmosphere down to the fact St Johnstone sell Irn-Bru lots of hyper buddies

    What a game.
What guts and spirit we have, like nothing I've seen since the early Gus days.
Such a young team and such belief. What a deserved 3 points.
I bet the 'fans' who wrote us off and lost interest feel really silly now.
Once again, well done Tommy and the boys!!!

First time I've seen 90mins from us this season. First half we were absolutely clueless, one of the worst performances I've seen from us. After they scored we were chasing shadows until we brought on Ball.
Looked a freekick on Marwood do their first goal.
Ball completely changed the game second half, after he scored we were all over Thistle, great desire shown to get a win.
Delighted overall to get the win though there are a few tweaks needed in the team:
1 Marwood isn't a lone striker. Only Ball can play this role.
2 Wylde was honking once again and I think if rather see, Kelly or even Plummer moved in there
3 Goodwin and Cheesy or Tess need to play centre half. Plummer very good footballer but not a centre half
4 although he wasn't great last night is have Teale starting every week. Need his experience on the pitch

Great three points last night, First half we were dreadful, But our 2nd half was superb, Subs made the difference looked like we had a better shape with McLean back in center mid instead of playing behind the striker in a 4 4 1 1, Osborne was superb the whole game, But credit to all players in the 2nd half,

On a positive note, we fought for everything in the second half and Ball, although he's still pretty unfit, had a great game, as did McGinn.
However, to counter that, we were dreadful in the first half and could have been at least two goals down. However, we know only too well what happens when you don't take your chances.
Also, I think we dodged a bullet with Stevenson. He must be on a pretty decent wage and he was pish.
Looks like we'll be using a Goodwin/McAusland CH pairing for the foreseeable future. Maybe this combination will work!
Finally, why not try Sean Kelly instead of "Ghostie" Wylde, out wide?
