In passing relation to your comment, the lad Demetriou looked a very tidy player indeed when he came on. I'd be inclined to give him a shot at right back in place of Irvine for at least one of the two cup games and see how he fares.

St Mirren shouldn't be in this place. We spent ten years as a top flight club. We reached two national cup finals, winning one. We sold our ground and cleared our debt. We were told a shiny new stadium and dedicated training facilities, allied to clearing the debt would see us able to attract better players. We were chosen as the home of the Scotland U2s. Celtic chose our stadium to hire. We had players like Teale and Thompson. We never entered administration like so many. We weren't a fcuking basket case like Dunfermline. We have a strong core support.
No fcuking way should we be in this position, no way.

I was at both of these games too but your recollection is getting blurred in the mists of time. Sure there were many turgid fixtures during GM's tenure but the 2010 LC final was not one of them - tactically GM got it spot on that day with 2 wing backs playing long cross-field balls to our big strikers which frustrated a strong Rangers team (who won the league by 6 points that year) and causing two of their players to get sent off. It was 15 seconds of complacency which cost us that match - watch the clip at 3 seconds when Weir intercepts the ball we've got six, yes six, players in the Rangers box. The problem was Rangers realized this before we did. Nobody got within two yards of Naismith or within touching distance of Miller and Gallacher's attempted save wasn't too hot either. Sorry for the pain that the video clip will undoubtedly cause.

Were you actually at that game, 10 men behind the ball? They broke up the park & scored when we were attacking [emoji6]

Rae also accumulated 2 wins from his first 2 games with Ian Murray's team. No January window. JR has 2 wins in 5 months.

Depends on whether you think we're too far gone?

If you think we have a chance I would really be putting the feelers out for Gus over the next two weeks. Ayr really is our last throw of the dice. Would he come? No idea.

I'm not buying this blame Rae nonsense anymore. Rae came into the team at a later date than Ross had an impact right away with a worse team than Ross had (People seem to forgot the woeful team Ian Murray left behind) and Rae also had a lot less to work with in January in terms of funds and those signings got us over the line.

The campaign against Trump was there, as you know , even before he got the presidency gig. I don't see what the protests in this country hope to achieve. .
There were major protests in this country when Tony said he was going to war but they never made a blind hit of difference. .

I think St. Ricky's prediction of 25 points is overly optimistic and Shull's prediction of relegation by Raith Rovers is overly pessimistic. The truth lies somewhere between the two and I believe we can stay up if we take it one game at a time and get behind Jack Ross and the team. The teams we are competing with for survival (Ayr, Dumbarton, Dunfermline, QoS) are not that much better than us in terms of their squads and the players we have brought in this month give some cause for hope. Let's get right behind Jack Ross and the team and see what happens.
Please be gentle with me. First post on the forum though I've been reading the posts for some time and a Buddies fan since the 1959 Cup Final.

People are saying that this is Jack's team now. Not sure why as he's only signed 10 players.

    Welcome Adam.
    From OS....
St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Adam Eckersley until the end of the season.
The 31 year-old left back joins Jack Ross' side after leaving American side FC Edmonton.
Eckersley has previously had spells in Scotland after stints with Hearts and Hibernian over the last few seasons.
After agreeing the short term deal, Eckersley told stmirren.com: "I was waiting on an offer that felt right for me. I know how good a coach he [Jack Ross] is and I felt like I had a trusting relationship with him.
"There's a lot of work to be done and I'll need to build a relationship with the players quick. I've been in the position with Barnsley in the Championship so it's something that I've dealt with before."
Manager Jack Ross said: "It's been no secret that we wanted to bring in a left sided player and Adam has a lot of quality. I worked with him when we were at Hearts and I know he'll be a good addition to the squad. He's experienced, he knows this league and we're delighted to have him in."

ged62 reacted to Stoobs in Esmael Goncalves on way back
Goncalves is a legend in more ways than one. In April or May 2013, I alongwith another plain clothes cop, were sent to a report of a fight in a flat at Renfrew Village, think it was Mulberry Square. Went to flat, called for back up, heard loud noises within. Adrenalin pumping round body. Knocked on door and muscular, bare chested, black fellow answered door and was looking happy. Could have knocked me over with a feather. GONCALVES. Told him why we were there and invited us in. The flat looked like the end of a Saturday night in Club Slapper. Drink everywhere. Goncalves and 2 Portuguese fellows within. Turns out, Porto (I think) scored last minute goal to secure Portuguese league and the three of them were going mental, celebrating. We all laughed, I relaxed where he then invites me into his bedroom. Started getting nervous as he is a big boy but he then proceeds to open up a set of drawers where there were an assortment of replica St.Mirren strips from cup final, every player was there. All fully embroidered with the match details under our club crest. He then asks me to pick one. I took Thommohawk's jersey, thanked Mr Goncalves for his time where he invited me back to party after my shift where I had to decline. Went back to office, declared the gift and gave it to wee Saints mad boy in my street who burst out crying when he got the strip and it is still up on his bedroom wall today. Sorry for long winded story but good to remember a legend.

Surprised it's taken this long for some of our fans to realise Mallan isn't very good, ball control and short range passing is absolutely terrible, will be lucky to get a game now that Cammy Smith and Steven McGinn are here.
Phone Barnsley and see if that offer is still on the table, sell sell sell.

Average? He was absolutely rotten, shirked out of challenges the whole game, gave the ball away countless times and was totally ineffective. That's exactly as he has been this season generally.

The reason Mallan attracts more criticism than most in the team is because he has the most natural ability. If he applied himself the way he should he'd be a star at this level. Unless that changes he won't realise his potential.

Rumours the bid was £150k. Undoubtably take it.

Knicker wetters? Again typical from you nobody is allowed an opinion that's different from you, we all want JR succeed but we are in a worst position than we were when AR left. We need to win our next 2 games if we don't IMO we are finished. Should Ross keep his job if we go down? That's debatable.

Here's Jack's league record as St Mirren manager: Played 14, Won 2, Drawn 3, Lost 9.
For all that people have said he inherited a shambles of a squad some of the guys going out the door have gone to Derby County, Ross County, Hibs, Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Dumbarton... clubs all currently miles ahead of St Mirren FC. When Jack Ross took over we are 2 points behind 9th place... in 4 months at the helm most of the league (including part time teams) have disappeared over the horizon to safety.
