Gareth_Glasgow reacted to Dibbles old paperboy in St Mirren V Ross County Spfl Premiership 25/10/14
Being 1 point ahead of the bottom 2 after the first round of games hardly counts as daylight. We have had 6 homes games and taken 1 point out of 18 at home and that was after coming from behind against bottom of the league Ross County and we had to come from behind twice to earn that point and they hit the bar in the 89th minute. Motherwell's losing streak, by the law of averages, will end within the next couple of games and they will start picking up points again and I have no doubt that a result like today's makes it a certainty that once Motherwell do come out of their slump we will be the first team they overtake.
Tommy Craig is no doubt chuffed to bits that we had the majority of the possession in a home game against the worst team in the league and we were a bit unlucky not to take all 3 points and all we need is a rub of the green and we will be fine (they had a goal chopped off and hit our bar in the 89th minute, how lucky do we need to be?)

How about 'The Silent Minority' as after the first 15 minutes today, they just disappeared into their own wee world.

No matter how bad Goodwins fouls are he is highly likely to get booked, due to his style of play.
Now as a St Mirren supporter should you not get behind the team and support every individual player. The man will be absolutely devastated he got sent off today. And you come on here and call Jim Goodwin a liability. Shame on you.
Jim is his own worse enemy at times but he doesn't deserve to be called a liability.

It's an absolute disgrace that people spout horrendous abuse to a boy that is a life long, dedicated, St.Mirren fan. All because his dad has a position on the board.
Marc McAusland is the best centre back we have at the club and the fact he's a supporter of the club is a bonus. We should be getting behind the guy, not slating him.
    In Cheeseball we trust!!

Big season for Cheesy, not playing alongside the soft Lee Mair or the positionally woeful Darren McGregor.
If we can get him a competent partner (plummer or someone else) and we will see the best of him.

Having read some amount of pish about him on this forum, it was good to see him have a fine performance today. We were a lot more composed at the back today, with Cheesy and Plummer both doing very well. Here's hoping he continues to develop, having Plummer alongside should help.

I've started regular email updates from Brian which I have been tweeting out on the @bawarmy twitter feed. I thought I'd use this thread to keep the forum users updated with what's been said.
    So here is today's update;
    Ryan Stevenson
We did have talks with the player and made him an offer. Unfortunately he elected to sign for Partick Thistle.
    Darren McGregor
Rangers were in touch a while back indicating they were going to speak wtih Darren. Club expects him to sign on at Ibrox shortly, think he is there for a medical today.
    John McGinn
There have been no fresh bids from Sheffield Utd for the player.
    Kenny McLean
Contract offer remains on the table, club are waiting to hear back from the players reps.
    Season Tickets
We have sold 2150 so far which is ahead of this time last season. In total we had 2700 last season but there are plenty of new sign ups, especially in the family section so hopeful of breaking last seasons total.
    General
Jim & Gary have been away on holiday, back now and meeting up with Tommy today for a progress update on player recruitment. There is a long list of targets and these are being pursued. The point was made that English players are all contracted until 30th June so there will not be much movement from South of the Border until July.
So there you go. I will post updates to this thread as and when I get them. Sure there isn't much above you didn't already know but at least you know 100% that it's accurate !

Never have I given so few shits about the prospect of losing a player to an OF side.
3 years ago? I'd have been utterly dismayed, now though, I'm glad to see the back of the McGregor - Cheesy partnership and we're losing the weaker link of the two, IMO.

Whether it is or isn't the correct decision Danny Lennon has been wonderful for our football club. A genuine, classy man who had a great relationship with the fans unlike his predecessor.
I only wish we had known before Saturday so that we could have gave the guy the goodbye he deserved.

Thommo will now be a mate, and even a drinking buddy of many of the players. Taking the step-up from that context would be very tough over and above his complete lack of experience in any area of football management.
An absolute no-no for me, I'm afraid.

Disappointed for Danny and in the way the club have handled this. It's been messy since that SG interview on Wednesday night: poor PR for us and I think DL could have been treated better.
Two 8th place finishes sandwiching a national cup win has not been and will not be bettered by many St Mirren managers.
My abiding memory of Danny will be his reaction to Newton's goal at Hampden. He turned round to the stands to watch the fans celebrate and just take in. When he knew we were going to win it the fans were first in his thoughts.
A genuine guy who made mistakes but who always tried to put out a team who played good football with homegrown talent in it. Not to forget as well the way he acted as an ambassador for the club, visiting primary schools and so on. The story about the wee girl and the lucky penny that Danny rubbed during the Celtic game....

Cheers Danny. All the best for the future.

Thanks for the hard work Danny, you can leave with dignity knowing that you have played a part in the clubs history.

Danny Lennon had many faults (dont we all!) but for me his greatest attribute was his understanding that we are a comunity club who have fans who are proud of our town and club.

Danny struck me as a man who would go to the ends of the earth to look after supporters and traditions of the club.

We need a bit of this in the new man who takes over.

All the best Danny and thank you for some great memories and our first ever League Cup.

    It's the right decision.
I know there's a lot of people scared of change on here and I know he has a lot of supporters.
However, there was no case for him to get a new deal, and any rational examination of the facts showed this.
Therefore I'm glad the board have came to the obvious and correct conclusion.
Danny leaves with his head held high and our best wishes. We must now move on, the new era starts now.

This. I don't know who is involved in designing next season's kits, but if it is our BoD or CK, I don't believe they would ask for that. Given what JD Sports own in-house team did with our first JD kit, which was good, I don't think they'd mess around with the stripes this much. Also, such thin stripes couldn't possibly have names and numbers on the back even remotely legible, so would it be a white back again? Having seen the positive reaction to 'bringing back the stripes' on recent kits, surely they wouldn't choose to go back to white backs or white patches again.
Having said that, I'm out the picture, REA is out the picture, so as I said, who knows who is now responsible for designing our strips.
If that turns out to be our real home kit.... Bring back, erm, me!

It would be great if St Mirren fans actually watched the incident instead of sticking the boot into Goodwin at every unwarranted opportunity. No wonder he is vilified by the officials and the press when our own supporters are no better. It's disgraceful.

Red card my arse! It is downright cheating... by oposing players (wee bawbag) and by referees hell bent on showing who's boss regardless of facts.
The wee runt Thomson thought he was a hard man when he elbowed Gowser in the mouth and drew blood. Gowser was a man and got on with the game.
Goodwin went within a meter of Thomson and the wee shite went down as if shot by a sniper.
I hope Luny bans him retrospectively!
    Superb performances all round.
Our back 4 and Dilo all played well beyond their years and looked solid throughout.
In contrast, Tommo had the energy and movement of a teenager!
McGinn and McLean are just a joy and privelege to watch... and shame on all the idiots who still think they were justified in criticising young McLean... hell... you are probably congratulating yourselves for aiding his development with your constructive criticism! !!

The apologists here are absolutely cringeworthy. Our sitting midfielder shouldn't be making tackles? Ridiculous view fuelled by nothing but an absolute hatred of our captain. A certain element won't be happy till they've hounded Goodwin out of the club.
