He may be a headcase....but he's our headcase.
I've never known one of our players to garner so much anger, seethe and hatred from opposition, players, fans and managers.
Derek Adams absolutely distraught yesterday was glorious. A quick venture over to Pie & Bovril and I was surprised at the reaction to him.
I just upgraded him to my favourite current player just because he gives a GIRFUY to every other team.
What a skipper...nobody likes him he doesn't care!
Anyone else love the fact the oor Jim winds everyone else so much?
PS. This isn't a thread to slate Goodwin, please leaves that chatter elsewhere.
What are your favourite Goody moments?

I've always been a happy clapper and days like today are the reason why. Football can be get wrenching at times, but decisions about managers and players need to be based on reason not emotion. Danny was always going to be manger till at least the opening of the transfer window and we were always too good to go down to a shite hearts team. Can he keep this runup? probably not but as long as he is bringing players like McGinn, McLean, Kelly, Naismith and Reilly through I'm happy. A cheeky wee cup win tae would be good

If true, then I'd hope that they'll be following him out the door in January. Regardless of who they are.
They have no right to play God with the club's league status, whether they like DL or not.
DL's ability as a manager and a motivator can be called into question time and again (and regularly is). DL's ability as a human being can't. He's a genuinely good, kind-hearted man and he certainly doesn't deserve a dressing room revolt from a bunch over over-payed primadonnas.

    End of an era. Shame.
Bought my season ticket before last season had even ended. Was thinking the League Cup was gonna be a watershed moment for Saints and we were gonna kick on. Experienced players dumped and only two experienced players brought in. Never felt more ripped of in my life.

Like others on here I'm starting to give up on caring, it's a resigned feeling that we will lose every game at the moment, Danny should have been punted after the thistle game, he wasn't and now we lose another 2 games.
But I will say that the players need to shoulder the blame also, we have decent players that just don't seem to give a toss, no matter what level you play at, you should always give 100% and have some pride. This team show no pride and no spirit, and that's worse than anything Danny has done, guys who we know have ability and heart, that have no pride in wearing the stripes at the moment.
St mirren from the board, the manager and the team are nothing short of stealing hard earned cash from fans at the moment

Newton was poor in his first 45 mins with us and turned out to be pretty decent.
Poor Bahoken only landed at Glasgow last night and I am sure he had to look at a map to see where the hell Paisley was located. The guy is only 21 and hasn't been playing regularly but thrown straight into a game as our savior. Give him a break FFS

I still don't get the continued disregard and outright hatred for the keeper.
He's young, yes, but he';s a decent shot stopper, is a far better kicker than Samson, is good in the air and seems to have a decent command of his box.
What has he actually done wrong? Did he make a single mistake yesterday? Seems people are hounding him from what they were told in pre season.
    I think he's a good goalkeeper.

I seldom start threads, and I slept on this before deciding to post it, but feel it had to be done.
The booing at HT and FT yesterday was a fucking embarrassment.
We had two players making their home debuts yesterday, and what a welcome they were given. Particularly grim, though, was to watch Cornell, Newton and a few forlorn others actually applauding the stands at the end to a chorus of booing. It was sickening.
Now, before anyone jumps in with the line that they've paid their money, and have a right to express how they feel, or the other old favourite about it being down to how passionate they feel about the club, blah....blah...blah, I'm simply stating my opinion on this matter.
If anyone actually believes that anything positive will be achieved by booing you own team off the park, then they need to have a long hard look at themselves. You don't have to be a psychologist to work it out. If the players and manager are already feeling the pressure and something is amiss at the club, then being subjected to this sort of teatment is going to achieve nothing good.
Whether you blame the manager, the players, or the BoD, all they will have heard collectively is booing. Indiscriminate booing. It is moronic.
To be honest, I reckon this type of behaviour is more likely to put people off coming along to SMP to take in a match than what is happening on the pitch. It has certainly made me glad for the international break.

I actually feel gutted for Danny.
He's a decent human being, and whether he has run out of ideas/simply isn't up to the job, or hasn't received the backing of the BoD and/or some players, I don't think he deserves our scorn and contempt.
One of the abiding memories I will have of Danny is when he simply turned and looked at the crowd at Hampden when Newton scored the 3rd goal in the final. I genuinely believe that he was at least as happy to have delivered that win for us as for himself. There is a warmth and regard there that few managers we've had in recent memory have felt towards the supporters - probably since Tony Fitz. And all that despite not having a long-term affinity with the club.
I feel utterly deflated tonight, but I'm not blaming Danny Lennon. Of course he has to take his share of responsibility, but so do others, some of whom seem untouchable at times.
Whatever happens, I'll always hold the guy in high regard for delivering the best day of my Saints supporting life. He'll always be a hero for that.
    Its a bloody shame.

I have no idea why everyone is so surprised we are losing so many players. Aberdeen released 11 this week and most SPL teams will also lose lots of players.
We will bring 3 in on loan again and a few signings as well. As for the hysteria about being doomed, I think we were doomed if we did not refresh the squad.
We still have a strong experienced spine in Thompson, Teale, Goodwin and Mcausland these guys get what St Mirren are about and will work hard to intergrate new players. We also have Darren Mcgregor to come back (though after 2 years out I am not pinning to much on his return, but he may prove me wrong). If we find 1 player in the mould of McGinn again next year we have done well.

I'm genuinely surprised by the level of support for Carey. He's never done it under Lennon. He's not fit or quick enough to play on the flanks and he's not strong enough to play in the middle. He's had chances at left back, left wing and in the middle. He's never strung together 10+ consistent performances in any of them.
He's a show pony. He will give you 1 or 2 magical moments a season with his wondrous left foot. This, does not a football player make.
    Danny's made the right call.

Carey as a dead ball threat - 3 goals and 5 assists in 55 league games for Saints in the past two years. That's not enough to warrant keeping him for. I've said already I like him as a player, and have been waiting for him to really show what he can do, but he's never really done it. Never cemented a place in a team that finished 11th this season. I wish him well, and have no doubt I'll see more wonder goals from him, probably about once a season.

Carey,s playing record over the last two seasons is 52 games and 3 goals , the first few months of this period Saints were paying him,to get match fit ,bearing in mind he is one of best paid players ,and he takes most of our free kicks around the box , his goal scoring rate isn,t that great .
I don,t mind him as a player , but if as a club we have a limited budget , I would expect a better return , from one of our best paid players.
For a dead ball expert , I don,t think he,s been that good , I can only remember a couple of his free kicks actually being on target this time round.
I,m sure we can replace him with a better player , who would also be less demanding on the wage bill.

Wee John McGinn, yesterday, reminded me of a player we had at St Mirren in the 60's, Archie Gemmill. The same type of player, small, wiry, and with great skill. This is a memory of what Archie was like, and Wee John could be the same:-

Walking back to the car, a few Celtic fans congratulated me on our win.
Fair do's. The rest were greetin' into their tricolours, so failed to spot my black and white scarf.
Today I'm resisting the temptation to text my wife's boss, who, as a Celtic ST holder, asked me if I wanted Juventus tickets so that I could see a team wearing black and white stripes give Celtic a game.
    Pleasing. Exceedingly fcuking pleasing!
