We the fans are St Mirren. The players are largely incidental.

Summer football yes please. Let's admit we live in northern Europe and the weather is poor. I basically don't go to watch the Saints as much as I would almost entirely because of the weather and almost never after Christmas until resuming in April. I watched my other team (FC Häcken) here in Sweden yesterday in the last game before the summer break - there's a thought - (July here can often be too hot and everyone goes on holiday in July). It was a warm summer evening, new stadium, had a cone and enjoyed the game in the sunshine. Marvellous.

I'm sure it will be phenomenal value compared to overpriced STs at rip-off merchants like Barcelona or Bayern with their outrageous £110 - £130 a season for the rubbish they serve up.

Well Shull, perhaps the club could stretch to a wee reviving dram for the fans?

Obviously this has been coming. Successive squads have arguably been getting weaker with each successive season for a long time now, or at least not any better. Even when they've looked good on paper they've not been a significant improvement on the park and who can argue now that the club has progressed? However, I'll probably start going to games again if we are more competitive. But with the talk of cuts will they drop ticket prices by 50% too? That needs to happen before people will come back in numbers.

I tend to agree Teale should be given a chance. The argument that because he's not long qualified as a coach must mean he can't be any good doesn't hold water for me. I have been coached and coached at various levels in football and other sports and some of the best I have seen had zero formal qualifications. Of course experience is valuable, but you don't need to be old to be wise and nouse and enthusiasm count too. He could be a natural coach and there's no doubt about his playing credentials. I'd be more concerned about the change in relationship from team mate to manager but hardly a deal breaker. At the end of the day the real problem we have is the general weakness of the squad which I can't see being sufficiently strengthened in January.

You've definitely got a point there. Obviously it takes a lot of dosh to succeed at that level, but those kinds of sides somehow feel more fabricated to me, though all team are bought to some extent. City are
interesting as they seem to be developing a real team spirit there which makes them more than the sum of their very expensive parts. And I do agree Bale is a fine player no doubt and as quick as a greased weasel, but
there's been a cheaty streak there that I find hard to admire. Suarez seems to have put his behind him and is now getting judged entirely on his performances, as I think Bale will be next season. You could argue that the criticism is actually constructive if it helps put a stop to it and the player moves on too.

It was a hard call. Which team to cheer for? An undeniably exciting squad of superstars, but built with cash
and containing a diving welsh player who tried to con Scotland for a penalty, or an arguably 'proper team' butwith a horrendous thug of a 'player' turned manager...
Nah, for me it was a bit like an old firm game (if you remember when there was an old firm) i.e. just a shame
    there can't be two losers.
