I know what you mean, but often it can't be helped. I don't think it is us that leaks it to the press (the Verheydt one for example was definitely the player and his agent who leaked that one). To be honest, we haven't been bad for it this season. Worth remembering a couple of weeks ago this place was in full meltdown because "there isn't even any rumours!!" and were wanting a daily briefing from the club on every transfer deal that was in process.

For my 2p worth, Greig has MESH surgery to fix his hernia while at the Dons.
It wasn't a success and afaik, he hasn't had an other one to try and fixed it.
I know this because my wife and him shared some e-mails between themselves about MESH failures.
He was to meet my wife at the Scottish Parliament for a chronic pain committee meeting, but the health minister cancelled her attendance, so Greig decided not to attend.
In my opinion, MESH surgery in any part of the body is a high risk due to the high level of failures, and is almost impossible to fix 2nd time round.
Greg is taking legal advice against the clinic that put the MESH in and I certainly hope it is successful.

What do you know about any of this?
We are not a f**king charity.
There must have been a clause which Greg freely signed which exempted the club from paying for his treatment.

We wouldve been relegated last season if we never gave the bigots the stand.
Do you think we wouldve survived without Hladky & Popescu in the team?
Unfortunately that's why we need to do it

Craig Samson is definitely up there, low key signing at the time as a backup keeper, not highly rated, yet he became an absolute legend, league and cup winner and penalty hero. Andy Dorman as well. I'd never heard of him, came from the American league, yet was a brilliant player for us. Conor Newton is another candidate, especially after his honking debut.
Overall though, I think I'd go with Yardley.

    Gavin Reilly.
Came to us from an uninspiring spell at Hearts, and his loan spell at Dunfermline during that time didn’t excite either. Then next thing you know, he’s hit he 20 goal mark and it’s only January. A goal tally we hadn’t seen since Barry Lavety. I don’t think anyone expected him to be as prolific as he was.

I know we lost today, and we will probably lose our next two but...

Just thought today exemplified the absolute folly of some our support getting themselves in such a state during the league cup group stage.

As most goals come from a move of 1 pass or less after a regain of possession in the attacking third, passing is pointless.

Leicester won the Premiership against far better players and despite having less than 50% possession in every game.

Let the opposition pass, press and score!

    Totally true.

However, the players that we did have at our disposal should have been more than good enough to qualify from that League Cup group.

And if being unprepared at this stage is the price that needs to be paid to get in a good standard of player, I’d rather that than filling the squad with shite at an earlier stage, as per last season. [emoji12]

Because the window closes 4 games in and I dare say that rather than panicking and signing any old shite to make us 'prepared' when initial targets like Verheydt didn't materialise, we're going for alternatives of a similar standard.
Completely theoretical here but what if someone very good and interested became available for loan in last two weeks of window but we weren't even in position to approach as we'd already beefed the squad out?
What if we missed out on the lad Durmus (who has played quite regularly at a good level) because we'd already signed Longridge for that position 3 weeks ago just so we were prepared?
I do understand the concerns but I think that it's always going to be a waiting game for us. It's been a far from ideal pre season but you can only work within the constraints and we were constrained with managerial change and initial targets like Erwin and Verheydt going elsewhere.
Still plenty of quality out there.

That makes no sense. In three years you’re expecting players to not only join the academy but have progressed through the academy & feature in the first team squad?
We have several young players that have started playing/ on the cusp of breaking through in the last three/ four seasons. Not least of all Cammy, Kyle & Ethan. Of course they were there before DL left, that’s how youth progression works.
We wont know the success of AM recruitment of young players for a good few seasons yet. All we can ask is a continuation of 1 or 2 youth graduates a season making the grade.

Agreed, we'll definitely DEFINITELY get relegated regardless of who we sign. Everyone knows that if you lose your first game of the season, you can write the other 37 off as you're already down.

Which is why we must sign Jai Quitongo and Michael Moffatt immediately .

If we were skint Andreu wouldn't have been signed.
If we were skint Hladky would be gone at the first sign of a bid.
If we were skint Popescu would never have been something we could even consider.
If we were skint Jim Goodwin certainly wouldn't be here.

MacPherson and Lennon are easily the two best managers st mirren have had since the 80s in terms of what they achieved at the club. If only we could have the stability we had under those two again....
