Everyone seems to regard Craig Samson as some kind of god! He lost us umpteen soft goals last season and didn't get half of the abuse that Cornell has got in his 1st few weeks!
There really are some supporters who once they've got something in their heads thats it no matter what happens they'll sit and shout abuse until that player has lost all their confidence and wants to leave.
The same could be said for our manager who has been taking abuse since day 1 because he wasn't gus McPherson, you know that guy who told us all to go to the pictures if we wanted entertainment!
The same could be said about imrie who the fans drove out the door, a player who I'm sure the majority of our fans would agree wouldve been very useful in the current squad!
I even remember mo cameras debut where he hadn't even touched the ball and he was getting abuse. Then there was mark yardley....I could go on all night.
It is this sort of abusive behaviour and unwillingness to change opinions no matter what happens that has actually put me off going to games now.

I actually feel gutted for Danny.
He's a decent human being, and whether he has run out of ideas/simply isn't up to the job, or hasn't received the backing of the BoD and/or some players, I don't think he deserves our scorn and contempt.
One of the abiding memories I will have of Danny is when he simply turned and looked at the crowd at Hampden when Newton scored the 3rd goal in the final. I genuinely believe that he was at least as happy to have delivered that win for us as for himself. There is a warmth and regard there that few managers we've had in recent memory have felt towards the supporters - probably since Tony Fitz. And all that despite not having a long-term affinity with the club.
I feel utterly deflated tonight, but I'm not blaming Danny Lennon. Of course he has to take his share of responsibility, but so do others, some of whom seem untouchable at times.
Whatever happens, I'll always hold the guy in high regard for delivering the best day of my Saints supporting life. He'll always be a hero for that.
    Its a bloody shame.

Might be just what he needs !!!! Get him in under Tommos wing rather than being the main man. Contract til January, if it works extend it if not punt hm. Potential to be a cracking pairing

Riordan if he had his edge back would be great along side Thomo ,he had great pace a good goal scoring record lost a bit when he left Hibs for C##tic ,but is he worth taking a chance on even short term ?

I agree wholeheartedly with the original poster, agree wholeheartedly indeed!
The new BT Sport channel is a most welcome addition to my television watching schedule that I do not really have.
The first football match I watched on it was Partick Thislte Vs Dundee Utd and I was somewhat impressed with the standard of coverage and commentators. Gary Mcallister, Gordon Strachan, Jon Daly and Neil Warnock were all at Firhill to commentate/participate in the coverage. It was better than anything I have seen Sky produce since, well ever.
Last night I watched England u21's Vs Scotland u21's and again the coverage was first class. Gary McAllister, Michael Owen and Stuart Pearce were all involved in the coverage and together a real in depth knowledge of football (both Scottish and them) was evident. Outwith these footballing matches I have also watched various other sporting shows and I must say knowledge of the Scottish game is much more evident than anything that the other lot have ever shown and I do mean ever.
I do wonder if those jumping to the usual negative comments have actually watched the new Bt sport channel?
My guess is they have not. In any case may I add my pleased voice to the echoes of congratulations aimed at British Telecom for this fine new sports channel. I must say I am now very happy that I moved my broadband from Talk Talk, very happy indeed.

After two games, seriously what? See Irvine Buddie's reply. ICT and Thistle clearly planned for the kick off, not two, three or four games after it. I think I made my point very clearly - not saying you need to agree with it, but I explained my concerns clearly enough.

Think you are missing the point. Every other team is ready to go with 0 games played and we are unlikely to be ready before the end of the transfer window comes round and we are already 4 or 5 games into the season.

Can't speak for anyone else, but if there's any moisture in my undergarments, it has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with Adam Campbell and his talent or otherwise. Campbell by all accounts is a prospect all right, pacy, young, would be a great addition to the squad I'm sure. However, if he doesn't land here, I won't feel that we've just missed the next Alan Shearer. Hell, I'm not even looking for the next Alan Shearer. I'd be happy with the next Mark Yardley, Barry Lavety or John Sutton. I don't mean that as a sleight in any way - I would just like a good player, not a world beater, added up front.
No, my leaky dribbles are nothing to do with Campbell himself. They are everything to do with what I perceive to be St Mirren lagging behind other clubs, bringing up the rear, dragging our heels - however best to put it. I see Butcher buying a job lot of Johnny foreigners and unknowns (again), and having them ready to rumble from day one. Not after several games, not after Hearts have got a lift. I see Motherwell replace Higdon with Sutton, and bring in a new Estonian who has already hit the net twice. I see Partick Thistle making moves and hitting the ground running.
We always seem to be slow out of the blocks and before we know it, we're lots of points behind whoever the newly promoted side is (Dundee being the exception with little time to trump us in the transfer market. We're also sitting looking at ICT, the fakes, and Ross County and thinking 'how come other teams can dig up all these new players and look solid outfits aiming for Europe?'
That's my dampness issue. It seems to be the same old story. Trialists, other teams beating us to the punch, long drawn out sagas, piss-farting around and wallop - there goes Thistle over the horizon, hoping someone turns out to be worse than us... Same old?
Maybe it's just me. It certainly isn't to do with a Geordie teenager, I know that much.

    I've also heard this.
It seems a tad absurd that we're trying to negotiate terms on this. We cannot possibly look at bringing the player in only for his club to recall him on a whim, leaving us in the shite. In any event, we are hardly in a position to play tough over this.
All the more reason for moving on, and looking to secure a player on a full deal where our club dictates the terms.

If this is true - about Newcastle wanting instant recall on Campbell, I assume in the event of injuries to their first choice strikers, then we shouldn't be entertaining this at all.
In fact, the whole thing seems to be verging on the pissing about stage already.
Gie's a signing, a proper St Mirren contracted, normal signing. FFS.

If he hasnt signed by now maybe this shows he isnt that interested in coming to our club, think we should move on while we have the chance and sign someone who wants to be here.

So, no further noises regarding Campbell.
While there is no news that he has signed on elsewhere, I suppose that is a good thing, but the days are passing and we still haven't strengthened up front.
There is no scope for fannying about here. I'm not expecting the club to announce the identity of a striker (or two, preferably) that they might be chasing, but I hope the wheels are in motion on this. There is only so many times we can repeat this refrain, but, with each passing day, the need becomes greater, and the urgency more acute.
Even a player in the Parkin mould - ie: been around the block a bit, scores from time to time, and looking for a contract - would be progress. As things stand, we are screwed. This isn't knicker-wetting, simply a common sense appraisal of the current situation.

Newton , in the space of only a few months , became a Saint Mirren legend . The guy came up here and when l first saw him play for us I thought he looked a bit shaky and nervous. Then l find out that the guy was playing his first professional game, ever. He then goes from strength to strength helps to secure a goal in the Final , effectively making Saint Mirren history. .
    Welcome back Newtonnnnnnnnnnnnn. .

Its all becoming a bit embarrassing, really.
It seems we have allowed ourselves to get to the stage of sweating over an 11th hour loan signing to throw us some form of lifeline. And that comes after ONE MATCH!
I am struggling to muster up any real enthusiasm for seeing this lad play even if he does sign, because it shouldn't have come to this.
Brian Caldwell and the BoD can talk all they want about the importance of people signing up for a season ticket, but they have to drum up interest and enthusiasm. I can't recall a less inspiring pre-season, to be honest.
It is becoming a farce, sadly.

I beg to differ. A “Hail Mary” is just a straight hoof up the park. That particular goal went from Craig Samson to the left back position, into midfield, out to Van Zanten then Thommo converting the resultant low cross. None of these passes were over head height, it WAS all passing and there was control & discipline to the move. To me, it was the archetypal passing movement goal.

Actually think its sad to see an established team (apart from the OF) with an honest core of fans go out of business. Coventry Fans arent glory hunting scum they are a bit like us supporting their local team through good and bad times. Poor management again leads the fans to suffer.

Am I alone in thinking we have a higher percentage of tosspots as supporters(and I use that term very loosely)at our club.I cant believe the level of abuse directed at one of our own and although we all have opinions when that degenerates to just downright personal attacks on players I feel the need to reply. Please don't sit on your computers spouting your pish but meet me at Inverness on Saturday and I will tell you how hard he has worked to get where he is.I might even get his League Cup Winners medal to show you.
