Potentially player of the year for Saints.

A guy who earned a very tidy sum of money from our great club is getting lauded on here and in other social media outlets as some great servant to St Mirren who was very harshly treated. Not convinced. I can't recall too many games in his time at the club where I have came away thinking 'Lee Mair played a blinder today'. It seems like the longer he has been away from the starting 11 the better he has got in some people's eyes.
Maybe a nice guy but that didn't make him a great defender. Maybe a few of his Herbalife and Meta fit buddies posting with tinted specks on. He will be punting his Herbalife gear in Partick by the end of the weekend.
Danny didn't rate him highly enough, wanted one of higher paid players who wasn't always fit off the wage bill. Life goes on. It's just a shame it's taken 6 months for the management team to move him on. We will cope without Lee Mair. Danny and Tommy will have someone lined up to replace him.:-)
It's best for all parties that he moved on.

John McGinn has been consistently good since he's came into the first team.
He's better than Gauld IMO. He can do some magical things on the ball. He's a wonderful passer. He's got plenty dig.
Complete midfielder I think and he could play Premiership football one day.

If Mair was injured and Van Zanten was replacing McAusland, the only thing way that change would have worked was if Naismith slotted into centre half and Vanzy right back.
Or even DVZ at right midfield at push with Newton in the middle! We really missed energy and running in the middle of the park with both DVZ and Goodwin in there

I made my mind up during the 2nd half that I was going to start a thread tonight under the heading of "Worst Substitution in Living Memory " , I've calmed it a bit now , but it really was a shocker.

He doesn't do getting it wrong by half.
The thing that annoyed me most today was that he put his ego before the team.
Mair is the obvious and correct sub, but Danny doesn't like Mairzo. So he puts his own ego and his own agenda infront of the best interests of the team, and it costs us.

He is only 32 he will play on in the sitting midfield role for another five years easy. He is a fit lad who I believe is missed when he is not in the team. Ok he will need to cut out silliness but I mean overall he's been a fantastic signing

Was watching a video of Isma Goncalves in his time with us on YouTube there and the cup game v St J at home has got to be one of the very best individual performances I've seen for us. Could easily have had 5 that day.
