Some of the haunts mentioned on here were different by the time I was doing my thing out in town, was never much into the Glasgow thing, did it occasionally but my usual Thur/Fri/Sat was in Paisley.
I thought of about 10 clubs during the late 90s and crazy amount of pubs catering to all styles.
Thinking about the vacant buildings... Mannequin's (Templar hall) / Carnegies and the pub at the corner (Was it Bar Soba? / Tell Mamas). Bit of a wild corner and after I was 18 never really ventured back down there apart from Carnegies pre/post match.
Then there was the one that became the institute, think it was the Kasbah and can't remember what it was before that. There was also a pub attached to it. Now both vacant.
Shuttle street - wow that was buzzing. I remember having work mates in town from Edinburgh and they were amazed. Loved it.
Really wonder what the youth do today... perhaps they're all in the gym!
Where did it all go wrong, I think it's all been said, cheap booze in the supermarkets / smoking ban / other things to do.

Wondered that myself many times. My time of clubbing was mid nineties to about 2005 and there were easily 10 clubs when I started and loads of decent pubs. Really don't know what happened but there were always people from all over the place in town. Shawlands these days seems to have the nightlife now that we used to have.

Our Technical Director really needs to take some responsibility here, one of his main duties as DOF is helping the manager identify and recruit new players

He said, "A major part of it is recruitment, getting out and about, building the network and trying to attract players to the club"

If we are so far behind every other club in the league in terms of recruitment, What is the point of having a Technical Director?

We have a perfectly good training facility at home.
Utter waste of money if that is the condition the players come back in. The two travel days look like they should have been spent on some extra fitness training or gym time.
Regardless of todays abject performance, I can see the point of a break in January but seems utterly pointless in the middle of summer.
They'll have the begging bowl round for SMISA to fund something at the training ground soon enough though!

Correct. Replcas with that logo were never available to the public. There was a retro version with 4 stripes and minus the Adidas logo about 10 years ago.
That combination of shirt design and sponsor was worn on only one occasion.

The best thing the club can do right now is switch off the online ticketing system and temporarily stop selling at the ticket office before a nightmare becomes and absolute f**king disaster.
First thing tomorrow (if not sooner), someone needs to sit down and manually match up the sold tickets on both online and offline systems to the home end seats and make absolutely certain that nothing is wrong there. The remaining tickets (if any) should be sold at the office only.  If there are double bookings but enough spare seats I would immediately re-assign tickets and announce that on this one instance, due to ticketing problems we would operate an unallocated seat system. If I was on the board of this club I would be saying goodnight to my family and personally driving over there right now to do it overnight (taking several cans of red bull probably) with a few trusted people to help out. 12 hours is more than enough to check this and rectify any problems. It's not even 7000 seats.
Following that, a new ticketing system is a priority for the start of next season. I'd be phoning every SPL chairman in the country who would take my call and finding out which firms are competent out there at ticketing.
The buck stops at the board level for this mess. Complacency over years of known ticketing problems are the fault of the board and nobody else.
This is precisely what the rainy day fund (which I have been calling for over several years) would be very useful for.

This goes from bad to worse this ticket situation.
Like many others I couldn't get logged in when the scramble for tickets started. The web has never worked well for me since I got my kids tickets.
So, I was told when I first called up 1 of my families season ticket seats was available and the other 2 were sold. They couldn't sell me any other seats at the time as they couldn't load the full template.
I eventually got logged into the site yesterday around 3pm and none of my families seats were available and the only ones I could buy were in W1 so I opted for the family stand.
I logged in just there and 1 of my families seats is available .... a different 1 to what I was told about in the phone call.

    This is an absolute shambles.

The season tickets I bought for me and my kids are utterly pointless. Season ticket since the Jimmy Bone era... giving up this year - utterly pointless.
     Just can't see the point.

In the press today saying he won't celebrate if he scores , St Mirren is too close to his heart. Not many players say that when they leave a club like ours . What a star.

Believe I saw him last season with one of his kids in the Main Stand area. Also the former MP Douglas Alexander and one of his.

Eckersley was named by Sutton on live TV as he was saying the dressing room was full of snakes - he has every right to reply to him and make his point.
    The rest I agree with.

They will at least get their chance when fit... not told they are surplus to requirements without him seeing them train/play.

Performances (and the subsequent results) make you popular. He had every bit the opportunity to do this. Sadly we've had far too few acceptable performances and a team littered with deadwood that are now on long term contracts and we need to offload.
I hope HIS staff aren't far behind him.

The record story was paraphrasing some Saints fans tweets from earlier in the day from what I could see!
Regardless, the situation is untenable now. Stubbs never had the dressing room to lose. His MO when he came in was to stamp his own authority all over things and eradicate all talk of the previous regime and previous season. This is disrespectful to the players that were continuing and quite stupid in terms of removing the team spirit that can carry you over the line when up against it. Quite simply the feel good factor is well and truly gone from the dressing room to the stands.
I get the need to be your own boss but you need to do that carefully, he never actually had a full scale rebuild to do, he only had a bit of quality to add and bit of depth. The guy blew a large part of his budget on deadwood squad fillers that are simply not good enough and would struggle in a division below ours.
Time's up and a damage limitation effort is required to stay in the division.
    "Chippy Paper" my ar$e.

Sadly. If a manager loses, or in this case, can't get the backing of, the players, there really only is one outcome.
I was hoping Stubbs was a genius and saw things in his signings no one else did but, going by the product it wasn't the case.
The next massive problem is that, whoever comes in, they'll have to build a team from the dross. Possibly plus a couple of unattached players in key positions.
The rollercoaster is still travelling my friends.

I have 2 laptops. One a company I do work for gave me, and my own.
One running Windows 10 and I can't see the seating plan. Everything is up to date.
The other Windows 7 and I can't see the seating plan. Everything is up to date.
As I can't see the plan It stops me thinking about inviting friends along on the spur of the moment.

I bet you Stewart Donald at Sunderland is really kicking himself. He could have had all these big name superstars and instead he hired Jack Ross. What is it about Paisley that makes it so attractive to all these super rich ex players? Has Fitzpatrick told them that they can moor their private yachts at Inchinnan Cruising Club?
