whydowebother
was saints 1.1 liverpool aber for saints dalglish for liverpool, pool won on pens Indeed it was. It was a rainy night & our goal squirmed underneath the body of big Ray Clemence & trickled over the line. That was a really good Liverpool team at the time. bigjerseybuddie
Great memories of a great atmosphere. Booing the pseudo Liverpool/ rangers fans who contaminated the other side of the fence in the north bank. We were a very good side to watch and if I remember correctly it was actually a very competitive match, not your usual exhibition boring guff. Those were the days! southside saint
My first Saints game at 5 years old. I remember my old man telling me about his first game walking down Love St, Never forget how huge the ground looked. It turned out to be the night that shaped the rest of my life. HSS
This game was the official switch on of the 'new' flood lights. I played in the 'dummy run' of the switch on of the lights for a Paisley select v Ex Scotland XI the night before. This was organised by our church minister. I could be wrong here but.......were the floodlights not in use well before the Liverpool game? Was it not the case we had to wait until they had a free slot to play us? I think you're right HSS, we were playing loads of midweek games around that time with Anglo-Scottish Cup and League Cup ties being played in October, November and December. Midweek games, nowadays, are rare occurrences but back then they seemed to be the norm!!
