RickMcD
http://dld.bz/eaN8K Really sorry to hear that. He was a fine player but I didn't realise he was only 19 when we won the cup in 59. He was a quiet kind of guy who never said much and never got into any bother. RIP. bluto
Aye. Big, young, solid lump of a lad - no nearly as ancient looking as Willie Telfer (who preceded him that position) or Davie Lapsley and Jackie Neilson. A new generation in those days... Good Buddie. whydowebother
We as a Saints 'Family' ; players and fans past & present may lack in numbers, but we don't lack in passion for what effectively is 'our club' We grumble , we moan , we enjoy the rare highs & many lows, but we can always relate to our successes of which he played a part. RIP : buddie

class of 76-77
The famous 59 cup winning team were just a few years before my time, but my late father told me all about the individual and brilliant players we had. Jackie and David Lapsley were two of his particular favourites. It's sad that Jackie has now joined a few more from that wonderful side in passing. RIP Jackie St Mirren legend. Mid Calder Saint
R.I.P.Jackie.His time at our beloved Club hold wonderful memories for me.The 1959 cup win was simply magical and was a great Saints team. That season I was privaleged to be a Ball Boy and the memories of the wins in the earlier rounds over Peebles Dunfermline and Motherwell who had a great team will live on forever and then of course we hammered Celts in the semi final followed by that great day against the Dons. Old Weiserbud
I used to watch Saints between 1955 and 1962 before the family moved to England and count myself lucky to have seen some great players and matches during that period. When I read the news about Jackie, it triggered the memory of his sliding tackles out near the touchline. He had the ability to time it so that he, the ball and the winger ended up in a heap on the running track at Love Street. Probably red card stuff nowadays, but they usually picked themselves up and got on with the game! I'm sure there must be some other old gits out there who know what I'm talking about! Sad to see another member of that cup-winning team gone.
