Also in that team - a Sam Allardyce.

I know that name from somewhere...

He scored twice in the 2nd leg

Notorious shagger Frank Worthington’s aborted move from Huddersfield to Liverpool in 1972 is the stuff of legend. After failing his medical due to high blood pressure apparently caused by having too much sex, Worthington was sent to ‘calm down’ in Majorca, where he continued to enjoy “the fruits of being young” – namely (in no particular order): Miss Great Britain, a Swedish mother and daughter, and an unnamed Belgian beauty. He returned, failed the medical again, and joined Leicester instead.

RIP Frank a life well lived.

Wouldn't the high blood pressure come from the boozing that preceded the shagging?

Still as you say a life well lived - RIP.

Frank played at Love St on at least one occasion...............

Me and my brother used to stand between the dressing rooms inside the old stand after matches, to wait for my dad.

I remember Frank coming out wearing light blue silk trousers and Arabian like slippers to match.

We couldn't believe what we were seeing and were pissing ourselves laughing.

Fair play to him, as he said "Hello" to the pair of clowns chortling away at his sartorial elegance.

Bolton had a decent team back then. Polish winger Tad Nowak who scored at LS had played against us for Legia Warsaw a few years earlier !

I didn't remember him (or Allardyce) playing that night even though I was at the match. My old brain is deteriorating rapidly. Thanks for this reminder John.

👍

We were 4-0 up after 20 minutes. Len Cantello  (scorer of one of the stunning goals for WBA in that televised 5-3 win at Old Trafford) was then sent off and yet the 10 man Trotters scored through Worthington and Nowak.

In typical St. Mirren fashion we "lost" the away leg 2-0 with Allardyce scoring both. Bizarrely, away goals only counted double at the end of extra time rather the normal 90 minutes. Cue Jimmy Bone scoring in the 120th minute to make the FT agg score 5-4 to Saints.

We of course went on to further pump English sides Sheff. Utd and Bristol C. to lift the trophy.

We had to get escorted out burnden park by police after being kept in after the final whistle, Bolton fans going mental after JB's extra time goal, happy days indeed.

That would be this game. Some interesting players in Leeds team.

As much as some interesting players they also were on the decline and had been relegated out of division 1 season prior and they were playing a team very much on the up.
