I don't really see it as an issue.
It can only be a good thing to be seen to be helping that level of football.
However given the negative comments what about sponsoring a cup or one of the leagues so that the funding goes to all participants? -

And what about the other youth teams that don't get chosen.. ?? doesn't quite sit well with me, the community means all the community

My thoughts entirely. Bit puzzled by this proposal. Surely we have enough youth teams already, which SMISA already supports? I am minded to vote against this proposal - I'm all for community engagement but I don't follow the idea of supporting other football teams. I'd rather give the money to St Mirren's youth teams, or look at sponsoring some other sort of community initiative that might encourage more people to come down to Love Street.

Whilst I appreciate the nice thinking behind sponsoring a local youth team, to my mind the only team that SMISA members intended to actually sponsor is surely St Mirren?
That's the only team in which I'd want THAT money to be invested.
if I want to sponsor a local youth team, a charity runner or a cat's home I'd take that decision myself and use other money for that purpose.
let's concentrate on St Mirren.

I fail to see why the boards need replaced at a cost of £1500. Sure, they carry a JD advert at the bottom. Simply print self-adhesive new adverts and affix over the bottom. I worked in the graphics business. We did this sort of thing all the time.
Each board could be re-sponsored by an individual or company paying for the new advertisement covering the old JD logo.... cover every one with Joma logos. £1500 my arse.

Suggestion for the next proposal.
Nets for shooting practice at the family stand. I've seen these at plenty of other clubs, the nets are temporarily in place for shooting practice before the game.
There have been quite a few kids hit and we're lucky that none have been seriously injured. When your sitting in your seat watching then you are prepared for the stray shot but walking along the concourse or heading up the stairs an unexpected ball whacking a child would probably knock them over and those steps have sharp edges. Wouldn't like to f**k my head in them.
May not seem like much but I'm sure anyone who sits in the family stand will confirm that it's slightly entertaining at times but definitely more than the odd wince or two.

I think we should cut LPM some slack, Skyview might be alright now in the financial sector but when the machines take over and they start making all those terminators you will all be sorry.

Had a bad feeling this might happen, a combination of a few things actually including virtually the same team playing 5 big games in 18days, the hype over Brendans statement, a big anticipated game at Parkhead, can picture John Hughes geeing Raith up all week, was massive for them too, problem we have now is Dunfermline are playing really well too and they are up next, the games are coming thick and fast, am thinking now in hindsight !!! maybe we should have played the u20s against Celtic, a game we were never really gonna win, Jacks job just got a very lot harder

Another old fashioned player with a passion that's not easy to find nowadays.
As Poz says above, a player from a team/era that will never be seen again.
Time doesn't stop for anyone.
RIP.

RIP. Part of a truly legendary Scottish team, no matter who you support, a great team, the likes of which will never be seen in Scotland again.

Probably not the best result for us, Raith no keeper you couldn't make it up what else can go wrong. it seems nothing is going our way this season, but one thing that has changed is, we now have a team at last, confidence is growing and now its more about what we can do, and that's the way it should be, its in our hands. We are better than Ayr and they know it too, 4pts in the next 2 games will be massive for us, and would bring Raith into this mix too, ! BELIEVE !

Hope they get the venue sorted today (fir park or east end park) We need to stick this final on the back burner, was a great 2nd half performance, but I thought TNS were a very poor team who scored a great goal, can barely remember them getting in our box once I think in 90mins, This Saturday our new look defence will tested a lot more (hopefully am wrong) confidence has improved no doubt about that, winning this game will be massive, and could save our season and Ayr will know that too, and they will fancy their chances, This game is much bigger than the cup final, so get that big flag ready for this game
