Robo got a reaction from portmahomack saint in Merged: All The Oran Kearney Threads
I admit to feeling gutted when this story first broke, but don't think things are as bad as I first thought. Concerns that the board were being unreasonable have been allayed, we're in a better place than when OK first came in, and we seem to be making signings, which didn't happen after Jack left.
Get the right man in (Goody), and the positivity will return quickly I reckon.

He was asked by the media prior to our two playoff games about the Coleraine vacancy and he didn't really deny any interest, or show any sorts of indication that this is where he wanted to be long term. He said at the time, my main focus is these two playoff games.
From the newspapers today, its revealed his old PE job is still open for another 3 months and tying that in with the vacancy at Coleraine, you can't help but think he would want to return to that and think the only way he can have anywhere near close to that family time over here, is to ask to commute daily, which i completely stand with board on this one. It is completely unreasonable at club level to have that flexibility.
People can compare the commute in duration all they like with mainland ones, though this is completely different and would most likely restrict a lot of the work that is required of a fulll-time football manager.
Being a family man myself, I can completely understand OK must be finding it difficult with time away from his wife and kids and respect he is putting family first, though it doesnt seem to have ended in a nice way.
I think GS has every right to question the manager he employs about long-term commitment. It says that after requesting a daily commute he came to a compromise of a couple of days a week again, though, that clearly showed he would first and foremost wish to travel home more often rather than think to settling here permanently.

I would be keeping OK if he wants to stay. If this is down to GS , maybe he should be looking at his position.

Robo reacted to Julian Banjos in Jack Ross Must Go.
On the subject of goals.......
Yesterday was the seventh match in which a Jack Ross St Mirren team has scored 4 or more goals in a match (Spartans 5-1, The New Saints 4-1, Ayr 6-2, Morton 4-1, Raith 5-0, Stranraer 4-1, Airdrieonians 5-0).
7 times in 39 matches as manager ( or remarkably 6 times in just the last 19); Danny managed the same feat 9 times in 179 matches; Gus was 6 in 289.
"If you want entertainment go to the cinema" right enough.

If I was a journeyman football then that's exactly the route I would take.
A chance to see many interesting countries while earning a decent coin and being treated as a bit of a hero. Beats earning £400 a week playing in places like Forfar....

A great appointment, an am no just saying that.

Are there still fans out there who believe that the best thing for St Mirren would be for us to go into debt?
Really?

You can hope all you want but there is no such consortium. If there was, it would have come along a long time ago.
I disagree entirely. What did Gilmour and co have to offer when they first came along? Nothing - they didn't even want to take over the club. Certainly they've learnt a lot on the job, but there is no reason why fan representatives can't do the same. As you say Gordon Scott, who does have experience as a director, will be around for a little while to keep a steady hand on the tiller, so I have no concerns. Sure, the fans on the board might get things wrong, but so will anyone who takes over, and so have Gilmour and co. As for a business plan, I am quite sure there is a business plan on the table, and on the table is where it should be rather than in the public domain at the moment.

Good luck to those involved, i hope someone within SMISA is going to be able to basically work full time on the bid and funding, in order to give the process the time it deserves, from experience it will need it.
Who is the front man for SMiSA....who do i get to ask "what's in it for them"

Jesus f**ken wept, the man has not even set foot in the dugout and he's been written off. its not surprising to see why we have the reputation as the most moaning faced support in Scottish football.
Give the man a fighting chance before you shoot him down in flames.

I say give SG and the BoD a bit of credit if Alex Rae is to be our new manager.
After repeatedly cocking-up with such a long string of wishy-washy appointments I'm pleased they have introduced a no-nonsense character into the manager's office at SMP. In a long career as a player Rae showed toughness and commitment on the park. No shirking from him, he was as hard as nails and knew he a particular job to do.
Right now we desperately need a tough disciplinarian at the helm. If Rae approaches this difficult challenge with the same attitude he had as a player I can see a lot of prima donnas being slapped down or shown the exit.
Bring on the revolution !!

Don't know the answer to why he's not had another manager's job in that time, but is a comparison with Tommy Craig perhaps a bit unfair? Two decent seasons as manager at Dundee versus an awful six months as manager of Charleroi.

Every appointment is a chance.
Experience means nothing if they are a diddy, like Craig, Hay, etc.

Alex Rae in his two seasons at Dundee, had them finish 3rd with him as player manager and followed that up with a second place finish. I would be delighted to see him replicate that type of finish with us.

My wee girl's first game today as well. Had her fingers in her ears any time there was crowd noise, got a sausage roll at half time and got it everywhere, and missed the goals 'cause she was watching the seagulls. Says she wants to go back.
Delighted :-D
