I played the Old Course for my one and only time the day after Seve won the Open there in 1984. It was £18 to play the Old Course then, and not the crazy stuff of today with ballots and tons of American and Japanese tourists. I went up with my dad and we went to the starter to see if we could play. If not, we would just go and find another course. The starter told us a group of four were next up on the tee but if we just paid and were ready, we could jump on before they arrived at the tee. I swear, it was like that, just gie’s yer’ £36 boys and off you go in front of this fourball that are coming along in a few minutes. Maybe the bloke trousered the £36. Don’t know, don’t care!
It was a warm sunny day, and while not nearly as commercialised as today, there were still good sized stands everywhere. There must have been fifty or so folk sitting in the stand at the first tee sunning themselves. It was without doubt, the most nervous tee shot I’ve ever hit. I was saying to myself ‘Don’t duff it, don’t duff it, do, not, duff, it’... I went down to a five wood and hit a decent drive, down the middle, no embarrassment. My dad, who was a casual golfer compared to me, went to a six iron, and hit a decent tee shot too. We walked off briskly (to get away from any fourball about to turn up!), and acted like we always hit decent tee shots, heads held high as we trotted down the first. I hit a pitching wedge to fifteen feet and holed the putt for a birdie three. Glorious.
The rest of the round I remember nothing about, except for the 18th. On the way round, there was another twoball in front of us. A guy, and I guess, his son, who was about fifteen or sixteen I reckon. He looked a good player. At the 18th, they had driven, we waited on the tee as they played their second shots. The kid must have hit it close, because the punters sunning themselves in the stand behind the 18th all applauded loudly. We heard the applause wafting down towards us, it was brilliant. Having said that, we were next to face ‘the gallery’, so once again it was a case of a very nervy ‘don’t duff it, don’t mess it up in front of the gallery!’ I don’t remember either of us duffing it up 18, but I have no recollection of how we actually scored on 18.
The first hole though, was just brilliant. True story, one of my best memories of my dad too. The look on his face after hitting that decent six iron off the first, from someone who hardly played much. He was so relieved, proud of himself. He just grinned at me and made a ‘whew!’ motion with his hand across his forehead.

Just a shame he is pish, if he was any way good then Hamilton won't be freeing him.

We would be better signing Joe Beltrami as our defence was murder at times  against Dundee!

There will be games where we can play the same formation yesterday be it 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 but felt at times  we were outnumbered in the midfield when we lost the ball in forward areas.
With just Magennis , McGinn and Willock in a narrow midfield it meant when Coulson and to a lesser extent McGinn get forward they are getting pulled all over the place. I would expect to see  Ross Stewart make way on Sunday for an extra midfielder being Flynn or Kellerman.

There is an interview with Kyle on the Derby Under 23 part of the Derby website where he says that he has never been fully fit in his career. He states that they are currently managing his injury and he has different training routines than the rest of the squad particularly in pre season.
Whether we can risk him being injured for a large chunk of a loan spell?

There’s a couple of things I don’t really get. One is that somehow Dundee over-ran us and we were somehow lucky to win that game, and secondly that Nat King is some sort of dreadful bombscare, an accident waiting to happen.
The way I saw it, Dundee had a great spell for fifteen mins or so at the start of the second half, but over the piece, both teams had spells where they were on top. In regard to Kpewkwakawa.... he clearly isn’t Willie Miller or Alex McLeish, but I’m really not shitting myself any time the ball goes near him. For every mistake he made yesterday, there were at least two good headers clear, or just hoofing it away from danger (fine by me)... plus, he tried some good balls forward, especially trying to play balls out wide to his right. The Baird / Nat King combination must have played all of five or six games together and certainly, a keeper and central defensive partnership need more time than that on the training ground to get it right between them.
Give the big guy a chance I say. I think ‘bombscare’ is dreadfully harsh after only one league game.

Doubt it. We don't have another keeper and Aberdeen signed Tomas Cerny last week to take Rogers' place.

You missed that McCann will feel aggrieved and try to pick a fight with Rice and Jackson

We have probably only sent them an initial allocation of 500. Don't think I have ever seen a decent Dundee support in Paisley.
Would expect them to bring about 1000-1200 max with it being the first game of the season

There could be 50 empty seats in the whole ground and the official attendance will be given as 5800 odd

Stubbs claims on the comments on the official site that he is 6ft1 or 2.  Could be an interesting formation with Flynn, McGinn, Willock and Magennis all vying for a central role, throw in Cammy Smith's best position just off the striker we seen to have plenty of  central players but no natural wide players on either side with King and Kellerman not looking like first picks.
If McGinn doesn't move from Hibs could we be forced to sell Kyle before the window closes?
