I think he's silly to turn it down, but can understand why.
I'm sure if he was good enough to break into the first team regularly his contract would be renegotiated pretty quickly during the season as we did with McGinn.

I can't see what he's done to deserve the wage hike he's looking for. From the U20s games I've watched this season, he was far from our best player and based on first team appearances, Brady, Yaqub, Reilly and McGinn have looked more likely of 'making it'.
Thankfully, Yaqub and Brady have seen sense and accepted terms that will be improved if they can make an impact in the first team.

    This:
    "Club Shop News
As many of you may be aware, Provan Sports were responsible for the operation of the Club Shop during the run up and the aftermath of the Cup Final.
We are pleased to announce that we have now agreed a contract for Alan and his team to operate the Club Shop at Greenhill Road on a full time capacity going forward. Whilst JD Sports will continue as our retail partner for replica and training kit, Provan Sports will operate the shop at the ground and will be responsible for all other merchandise.
In stock now there is a great range of Cup Final winners product. Provan Sports are working on new ranges of accessories for the new season at the moment from pin badges and hats and scarves to new clothing ranges.
They are also currently working on our Christmas products and news on those will be included in future emails. Look out for St.Mirren Pyjamas and Onesies, and much, much more.
The Club Shop hours will remain as 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday for the close season period.
Also please note that the shop will be closed all day this Friday 7th June 2013. "
After two years of f**king around with hee-haw to offer fans, and missing out on a no-brainer revenue stream the club see sense!
I expect our commericial director will find a way to f**k up the kitty for the wednesday night 8-a-sides next!

    F***.
I got a text on Friday from a mate at The Sun, saying they were going to be running a story on Saturday that Jeebs was signing for Motherwell. Well done you guys on getting him, great signing!
i had originally been told by his mates that it was between you guys and us, but Motherwell and Dundee United had come in with late bids.
Got to admit thats an outstanding attacking 4 you have! Harkins, Thommo, Teale across the front with McGowan in behind?

I was out in the garden last night, dibber in hand when my neighbour Crawford came running into my garden in an absolute panic.
"Crawford you're panting rather heavily, did you struggle witht the uphill bit there?"
"No Somner I need to borrow a tub of Marg now..!"
"you following a great bake-off recipe?"
"No nothing like that, I was walking through the park with a few friends when we came across a poor chap with his head stuck between the railings. we all took turns pushing, pulling and trying to drive him through, but the more we persisted, the more he screamed, and the harder it was to squeeze anything through."
"Ah-ha a tub of marg to smear round his neck and head! Good thinking Crawford, i've got a tub of stork that should help get him free!"
As i handed my slightly out of date tub of stork to Crawford he shook his head and with a devilish smile said: "Oh Somner... who said anything about freeing him!"

Got to agree with Poz's comment above re season tickets. For the fans saying they won't renew at the moment because players are leaving, did you not hear Stewart Gilmour on TV saying we need at least 400 more through the gate to keep our best players /sign better players. Not renewing your season ticket is the complete opposite of what he asks. The attitude of our fans is baffling at times. Spoilt kids syndrome

I have no idea why everyone is so surprised we are losing so many players. Aberdeen released 11 this week and most SPL teams will also lose lots of players.
We will bring 3 in on loan again and a few signings as well. As for the hysteria about being doomed, I think we were doomed if we did not refresh the squad.
We still have a strong experienced spine in Thompson, Teale, Goodwin and Mcausland these guys get what St Mirren are about and will work hard to intergrate new players. We also have Darren Mcgregor to come back (though after 2 years out I am not pinning to much on his return, but he may prove me wrong). If we find 1 player in the mould of McGinn again next year we have done well.

Well for starters, Goncalves, Newton and Dummett were loan signings and not our players and it was always on the cards that they would leave. So that leaves 8. Samson and McGowan are out of contract and can choose another club that likely pays more money or further their career. That leaves 6. Smith was brought in as a standby only to cover for Adam when he was injured and was never going to be with us longer than this season. That is us down to 5 players. Parkin was never going to be kept on as he is no longer good enough at this level while there are alledged issues with Imrie and Guy. We are now down to 4 players. AFAIK, Imrie and Guy are still with the club so that leaves just 2 - Adam and Carey. The issues and feeling around Carey already discussed and apparently there are some issues around Adam with discipline etc. Aberdeen have just released 11 players but like us will bring new faces in during the close season. I am more interested in who is coming in rather than who is going out at this time. If it improves the team then fair enough and if not then the manager has to deal with that.

For me Carey is a player who needs to play week in week out in order to get the best from him.
He was outstanding against Celtic in the semi final, then he played on the Weds night win against ICT, our first in about a million years and then the comfortable win over St.Johnstone in the Scottish Cup, another team who we never normally beat.
Dropped for the next game away at Aberdeen (along with DVZ) and the winning run comes to an end as the goals dry up.
Then start our bonkers run of team selections in the lead up to the final.
Carey on the left and Teale on the right is a formidable combination
Add in his dead ball ability which is second to none and the fact he can fill in at left back and you have to wonder why he didn't play more often and why he is being allowed to go.
    Very disappointing IMHO.

Wee John McGinn, yesterday, reminded me of a player we had at St Mirren in the 60's, Archie Gemmill. The same type of player, small, wiry, and with great skill. This is a memory of what Archie was like, and Wee John could be the same:-

Rather than Liam Miller, why not have a look at his former team-mate at Perth Glory - a guy who won Most Glorious Player, Players' Player & Goal Of The Season in their end of season awards?
He even has a Scottish sounding surname, so might have family from over here or something...

they never swapped, st mirins academy was built with that name and about 5 years ago was burned to the ground after lying empty for a number of years, pupils from st mirins and the convent across the road - st margerets - were the last to use it when it was known as st mirins and st margerets, before closing when st andrews and the other one in renfrew - trinity high - took most of the pupils from the paisley/renfrew area

I asked a police officer at the end of the game where my friend was and he told me had been arrested and taken to Mill Street.
I asked him if it was Saint's own security who was responsible for the Cetic end, or did they bring their own.
He said it was the police who were responsible.
I asked how someone got in with a flare and he said they can't check everyone.
I also asked why they were allowed to stand and were not all arrested.
He replied there are too many of them.
I suggested they could line up 100 paddy wagons along Greenhill Road and take them away throughout the game.
Referring to the police transport as "paddy wagons" did amuse him.
