Do you remember the season after our previous cup win. Thankfully the current custodians still do and are not repeating the spending splurge that followed that. All this "shame on you" stuff is total shite. Do you honestly think that Lennon and the board are not attempting to get players in. There is not much we can do if players don't want to come to us or they are outwith our budget. Most on here are starting to sound like they couldn't care less WHO we sign as long as we sign someone. Personally I'm much happier to wait for the right player and the price always drops the closer to the close of the window we get.

Malmo are mid season and top of the league over there. They knocked TCFKAR out the CL qualifiers 2 seasons back so them humping a Hibs in a competition almost all provincial Scottish clubs struggle in was no surprise at all. Hibs minus rat boy will be in the mix at the bottom imo.

Is everyone going nuts because they honestly believe preseason is a massive indicator to how well we'll do this season? Are some going overboard because they're just waiting for Lennon to f**k up so that they can call for his head?
I can't believe there are so many who do not understand that the prime objective of preseason, and preseason friendlies, is to regain match fitness after a summer away. Some seem to completely underestimate how fit these guys are during the season, and that even keeping their fitness topped up during the summer will still leave them way short of the required fitness and sharpness required to play at the top level, even if it is only in Scotland.
Results are bonuses, and confidence can be taken if we batter someone to an extent. Performances are also a bonus, especially when formations change, and personnel changes, so much during games. I would say that by the Newcastle match, we should be looking to take things pretty seriously, and should see us close to how we'll be in the first game of the season.
Save your tears and gnashing of teeth until we play some games that actually mean something. I'm pretty sure there will be an occasion or two during the season that fits your needs in terms of giving an excuse to vent your spleen, to let off steam, to shout and bawl. Now isn't the time. Worry a little, question the squad, hope for signings, but don't panic like a girl.

Will the keepers be ready? Will Vanzy cut out the errors that saw Morton score a cheap goal? Will Goodwin stop picking up cheap bookings? Will McGregor be a bit sharper? Will the Thommohawk look interested and stop moaning for free kicks? Will Grainger be signed? Will loanees be in? Will McAusland settle down into the calm player who strolled through the League Cup semi and final? Will Danny know his best XI and where to play them?
You tell me. What I do know however is that it is patently fcuking ridiculous to call for a new keeper on the basis that Cornell and Dilo are obviously duffers, having played zero proper matches, with their pre-season outings so far being behind defences that are in part cobbled together, or part trial formations involving a player both keepers just met that morning. It's a nonsense.
Calling for Casillas and Buffon? Obviously not. I used the names of two great keepers outwith our reach to jokingly illustrate what Danny might need to do to satisfy some of our more moist-pantied fans.

Kelly / Yaqub might be excellet LB's - we will never know unless we give them a go. Let one or both have a go in the first few games and if they look the part great problem solved if they dont look up to it Danny has until 31 Aug to get a decent LB in leaving the 2 younger players as cover. Not too difficult to think this will be the way DL / the club are thinking. To say we dont have a LB at the club is just wrong - we have 2 and we will see in the next 4-6 games if they are upto the job. Why rush out and spunk cash on an allegedly reliable LB if we have 2 perfectly reliable ones currently within the squad (3 if we assume Barron can still perform in a role where he won POTY a few seasons back)

Who's to say the current squad won't finish top 6. No one knows whats going to happen as we are still 2 weeks away from a ball being kicked in anger. Any squad cannot be judged 2 weeks BEFORE a season starts ffs ! Lets reserve judgement until we have played each team at least once by which time the squad will have been finalized and will have started to bed down. The weather may be bone dry but as usual this place is wringing.

This Isabella Duke character is clearly yet another puerile alias, and, as such, doesn't warrant a response.
There are literally hundreds of players looking for clubs. The fact that other clubs have picked some of them up needn't be a cause of undue concern. I would much rather Danny takes his time to assess exactly which type of players we require, as opposed to the scatter-gun approach that he was guilty of early in his tenure. He will know more than anyone that it is crunch time for him in some respects as his contract will expire at the end of the season. He also knows (and has acknowledged) that we under-performed in the league last year and that this must be addressed.
At least 2 more players will come in. I am absolutely confident that this will be the case. No insider knowledge applied here, simply common sense. They might well be loan deals, but who would grumble about that given how well our last crop performed for us. The very fact that there are vacant squad numbers speaks volumes.
People really need to calm down a bit.

How can a manager have a "poor pre-season" ?
We haven't even kicked a single ball, but not that it really matters what happens in the pre-season matches themselves.
The season is still 3 weeks away, we play one competitive match and then have another two weeks after that before our next.
The transfer window doesn't close for another 6 weeks.
Why not wait and judge the team and the manager once they have a few competitive games under their belt and once the full transfer window has run it's course ?
ICT have signed a lorry load of players, none of whom have SPL experience and none of whom anyone up here has ever heard of. They might be dynamite, they might be absolutely shite. Who really knows until the action gets underway ?

Elvis mate, there are bigger teams than us floundering with lower league football and mounting debt/administration. I don't recall any such 'making a complete balls up" when we won the cups in 87 and this year. I have watched the team longer than you and have spent most of that with my head in my hands and my stomach churning. I cannot count the number of times my scarf was threatened with the hallowed turf of Love Street but I have grown to accept that a club with our budget and fan base will more than likely be scrapping near the bottom of the league. It is a way of life but I am much happier being where we are now and would wager that fans of Dundee, Dunfermline, Falkirk and Morton would give their eye teeth to be where we are.
You must have a crystal ball somewhere if you can predict our final squad and those of the other teams. Murderwell have just lost Higdon and a few other quality players while other competing teams have also lost quality. No-one can predict what is likely to happen until at least well into the season. There is no way that the Plastics will as well as Ross County have done (but they may of course) as they have lost some quality while Hearts (if they survive) are going to struggle with -15 points no matter who they have in their team. ICT are a mystery with so many new players as are Hibs without the guy who appeared to score all their goals.
If you are citing that we will be at the bottom because we always are then I guess you would not have predicted we would have won the League Cup and beaten Aberdeen, Celtic and Hearts (all bigger clubs than us) because we had never won it.
Finally, football is a strange thing and surprises do happen. Would a RC fan have predicted their final league position of the Fakes getting into Europe? I doubt it and that is what makes this game so fascinating and enjoyable (well, as much as a St Mirren fan can enjoy lol)

The way people are reacting you would have thought he was the first name down on the team sheet each week. Given he was under contract and versatile on the left I would have kept him as a squad player but that's all he has been however he probably wasn't going to merit another loger term deal so why not move him on and get someone else in.

In this day of over paid over inflated ego's he is the breath of fresh air football requires and I truly hope to see him lift the cup high for the team he loves on March 17th - a fitting tribute to a true SMFC great.

You always hope we have a new hero when a new player arrives though I can’t get too excited by this new signing simply because we are in bad need of sorting out our defense we are leaking goals like a sieve, equal worst in the SPL. We need a stopper in midfield and dare I say someone new in at the back. For me they should be priority positions looked at.

Not for me to say what should and shouldn't remain open, but this relentless campaign of slabbering drivel is starting to grate, and is likely to turn people people off what is a great site. I've got John on ignore, but my fear is that other peope who visit the site will be put off by his increasingly inane keech, and the site will be poorer for that.
