Meant to reply earlier to this. Asked about but none of my friends saw it. I knew there had been a punch up because the parade stopped for about twenty minutes. It was near the front of the parade so I suspect it involved a Bangor lodge as they were leading the march. It's par for the course.
The first parade my wife and I saw was thirty years ago. Against our better judgement we were persuaded by friends to go up to Belfast. We were near Sandy Row across the road, appropriately I suppose , from the Rangers supporters club. About fifty yards along the road from us a fight broke out. I'm talking about bandsmen, not spectators although they soon joined in. What a donnybrook it was. Bottles, glasses even flutes and drums were used as weapons. It went on for ages. I never did hear what it was about or how many got injured. They hush these things up. When the parade was finally over and we were heading back to our cars we were knee deep in litter, glasses and bottles. I decided that would be my last parade and by and large I have stuck to it. This year's parade started about an hour late and that's why I got caught up in it.
I don't know how anyone ever came to think I have any time for the Orange Order. Over the years on this forum I have knocked them. But we allegedly live in a democracy so I have to respect their right to march. My original post was intended to polnt out the ridiculous Rangers association and as far as I'm concerned, exploitation of children.
There are kids of two and three years in the parades. Babies are carried by some. I even saw a big dug with a collarette! A red, white and blue one! The collarette, no the dug.
Aye, I just love the 12th.

Well, you should know what a dick is OK. Look in the mirror. I've been a St.Mirren fan for more than 60 years and there have  always been more bad days than good. It goes with the territory. You clearly can't take the heat so why don't you do most of us a favour and get the hell out of the kitchen. Your non-stop vituperation is tedious to the bulk of guys in the forum. Did your granny never tell you that if you don't have anything nice to say, then you should shut the f**k up?
If it's any consolation to you, the original Elvis was off his head too. But at least he was a pretty good chanter.

I wasn't at the game and haven't watched it for obvious reasons. It's a disappointing start, of that there is no doubt, especially as we finished the season playing a brand of football that had us all excited.

Here's the thing though. We're 4 players short of that team right now (Loy, Mallan, Eckersley and Magennis) who would all start for any team in our league and a few in the Premiership. They've all been big losses and young Kyle's absence in particular has impacted both Smith and Morgan as they've both been shuffled around as a result.

The good news is two of them will be back soon and we're actively trying to replace Loy with, hopefully, a player of equal quality.

Mallan's presence just won't be replaced by McShane though. He might turn out to be a decent player for us but we have a creative and goal scoring void to fill and it won't be easy.

    Still early days though.

Look I said at the start of this depressing thread a didn't think Jack should have got the job. Did I hold my hands up and say a got it wrong. I did on a few occasions. What he done between Feb-May was unbelievable and because of that we should only consider his removal if we are 10 points behind at the bottom of the league at Christmas.

He has showed loyalty by staying with us which most managers wouldn't in this day and age.

I will say this again that I will only judge after the 1st round of league games and talk of replacing him is crazy.

I am still optimistic of challenging for the playoffs.

    f**king tragic.
First time I've read about this. Always feel incredibly sad to hear of this with children, will give my wee boy an extra big hug and be thankful for his health.
Unimaginable the pain these families go through.

Just reading some of these posts that are saying "och, nothing bad actually happened". Absolutely incredible. Really is "I despair for society moment." Not surprising though. My whole professional life, people have always justified their actions despite said actions being clearly wrong. This started out with decent members of society on this forum saying that excessive alcohol, drug taking, offensive singing with sexual references etc should not be tolerated on public transport especially when kids present and now those concerned people are being castigated for it. It is the way of the world it seems.

There are more posts  is more talk about the fans and their behaviour than the match in this thread.
This is seldom a good thing.
    For the record:
There are no rules which say you have to be drunk or drugged to enjoy a game.
Most of us who attend are, I guess both drink and drug free - particularly with road traffic law as it is now.
In other words those who are drunk or drug taking are, thankfully, in the minority and don't represent the main body of fans.
    So
If the words might offend - don't speak them, don't sing them.
Consideration of others is what will mark out the Majority (True) of Saints Fan from the "Hingers On"
    And
The law is the law is the law. Whether we like it or not.
So why not just obey it.
    Simples!
    No?
An old fuddy duddy? Sure - doesn't make me a bad person.
So - if you are going to take a different view - please do - but avoid personal abuse.

The behaviour of the fans was a disgrace last night but that I'm sure isn't a surprise to anyone. Haven't heard yet if there was any trouble in Belfast after the match last night. Will be surprised if there wasn't some bother.
Did hear late last night that the PSNI did a rush job on the Bucky half bottle for fingerprints. They checked the National database of known criminals and got a hit right away. A guy called Griffiths from Edinburgh.

Thought somebody would notice that. I had something really important to say about Rangers. But I got it mixed up with King Billy's spurs being up for sale. Honest. A lot of pricks in there somewhere.
