If a better supported club like Hearts struggled to raise £1M to stay afloat, when Kilmarnock implode they'll be gone joining Third Lanark and Gretna. I'll take solvent well run and still here in 50 years !!!!!

    There's unable and unwilling.
At least our club will still be here (and stronger) ten years or so down the line.

is it possible that we just ripped up the contract? We wanted him gone and maybe another club, possibly Carlisle weren't willing or able to pay a transfer fee to take him

I think it might be sensible to wait until after all of our squad is assembled before pressing the panic button. There are loads of free agents on trial with clubs and many more looking for the best deals, we will make more signings and further strengthen before our first competitive match imo.

I played golf with a guy yesterday who started out as a fellow Saints fan. We were having an interesting debate about Sevco and Hearts most of the way round.
His opinion was that it was madness to take away the joint biggest club in the land and lose out on the revenue etc. I obviously disagreed.
He also didn't want Hearts relegated for the same reasons.
I pointed out that plenty of small local businesses are still out of pocket and that we don't actually miss them at all. They were fortunate that the SFL allowed them to transfer their membership to this new football club.
I asked, do you think "we" would have been allowed to transfer our membership if "we" has been liquidated? Not a chance. It would be bye bye Saints hello Spartans.
At this point I knew how the conversation was going to end.
His argument was that who wants to watch the top game in Scotland as Celtic v Motherwell? He said the competitiveness was gone and we needed a Rangers. This was another easy one to bat back at him.
Who cares about the challenge for Celtic and Motherwell got closer to Celtic than Rangers did in many recent seasons.
Competitiveness? Games are more open now and better to watch. Both teams playing for wins rather than avoiding defeat.
He then went on to the loss of revenue from the Rangers support but he was unaware that our largest league is against Killie and around 700 season ticket holders fail to turn up against the old firm.
We were starting to get closer to his real angle, Hearts being relegated and being in the first division at the same time as Sevco. Only one club being promoted and Sevco deprived of promotion.
Yes, he's a ***. He lost his bond seats etc when they went tits up. Shame
I hope Hearts get relegated and bounce straight back keeping Sevco down for one more season.

Just sent this text to Radio Scotland for Gary Locke... ...
I have nothing but respect for Hearts as a club. I have very good friends who bleed maroon blood. I like Hearts. I am good friends with someone who played 12 years at Tynecastle and have been awed by how this former player in his 80s has been treated by them. I truly like Hearts.
    But.... ...
as a St mirren fan I have seen us rot in the lower league for years because we serviced debt rather than speculated.
We were relegated after one season in the spl because we would not spend what we didn't have.
We lost out captain to Rangers for higher wages than we would pay.
We lost our keeper to Dunfermline as they paid him a higher wage.
We lost a left back and a keeper to Killie for higher wages (note the clubs and who is next).
We wanted to sign Craig Beattie... he was interested in signing till Hearts offered higher wages... he joined Hearts and helped them win a cup.
Can Gary understand why it might be hard to empathise with hearts current situation when we have all seen it coming for years and other clubs, like Saints, have suffered for living within our means?

He did say we were interested. If we aren't interested, the question has to be, why aren't we?
We don't have any goalkeepers and one with significant experience is available on a free transfer. Even if we don't get him, we should at least be interested.

Best: The Addidas 2 broad stripe shirt with the 'Grahams Buses' logo from 84, partially for sentimental reasons as it was the 1st shirt i seen Saints play in.
Worst: The bib top from 87-89, although i loved it at the time.

    "Club Shop News

We are pleased to announce that we have now agreed a contract for Alan and his team to operate the Club Shop at Greenhill Road on a full time capacity going forward. Whilst JD Sports will continue as our retail partner for replica and training kit, Provan Sports will operate the shop at the ground and will be responsible for all other merchandise.
In stock now there is a great range of Cup Final winners product. Provan Sports are working on new ranges of accessories for the new season at the moment from pin badges and hats and scarves to new clothing ranges.
They are also currently working on our Christmas products and news on those will be included in future emails. Look out for St.Mirren Pyjamas and Onesies, and much, much more.
The Club Shop hours will remain as 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday for the close season period.
Also please note that the shop will be closed all day this Friday 7th June 2013. "
After two years of f**king around with hee-haw to offer fans, and missing out on a no-brainer revenue stream the club see sense!
I expect our commericial director will find a way to f**k up the kitty for the wednesday night 8-a-sides next!

Thanks again fellow forum user's for your helpful advice on this matter.
Guided by the content of this very thread I today (I got bored of tv's for a bit and then I got interested again) made my television purchase.
I am now the proud owner of a
40" Toshiba LED backlit television. It has the following add-ons HDMI (whatever that is), USB, PC input and Full HD (1920 x 1080).
The picture is rare and the QPR vs Wigan game that I watched a short time ago was thoroughly enjoyable with the sharper picture and the sound, the sound well it was also rare.
Now I looked at various retailers and quite frankly I was beginning to get bored as they all seem the same. Also the staff at Curry's and PC World seemed to me to be a bit slow in the department of mental capacity whenever I dealt with them. I doubt I shall ever purchase anything from these people. At this juncture I should mention that I was going to buy a Sony television from Curry's and PC World but the staff member's that were round me like flies round dung and kept trying to sell me bloody overpriced insurance and a service package thing called "know how" that I neither wanted or needed.
In the end I scoured the internet pages of local retailers, eventually settling on my purchase for £299.99, reduced from £449.99. The retailer who secured my business was Argos and I liked the "there you go sir" attitude without anyone hassling to me purchase anything further.
I shall retire from the internet for the next few minutes as I am off to stare at my big f**k off telly.
