Our support is shite, there's no other way to describe it. Constantly shouting abuse at the players and manager is no way to support our team. The players want us to get behind them, not slate them.
Not once did the rest of the stand join in. The idea of a singing section was to bring atmosphere to St Mirren park. Singing section start songs, and try to get everyone involved. Instead the "rest" seemed to think we should be some kind of juke box that constantly belts out songs. Then complains when we fall silent...
Without participation in the rest of the ground, it will never work anyway.

Has Elvis approached the club about setting up a booing section ?

I come on here to bicker with other Saints fans who I mostly don't know - if I didn't I'd have to get a life!

Decent effort turning up early and singing. Had the game not been a horror show then there might have been more singing, but a decent start nonetheless.
Just a wee tuppenceworth though - I wouldn't adopt a name. I wouldn't try and make you guys seem separate from other Saints fans as people will be less likely to join in, which I assume is the point of having it next to the ST seats. As soon as a group becomes self-serving and sees themselves as better supporters with their own agenda who go to war with their own club (see the Green Brigade) then it's game over.
Any word of whether this will be a long term thing? I think the section will grow in time if supported by fans and the board. Best of luck guys.

Don't give yourselves a silly name like the supras etc. Just be the St Mirren Active group and get people involved in not only singing sections at the games and creating an atmosphere but getting people actively involved in things like raising money for our youth academy and things like that. Be active supporters to encourage people to take part in all things st mirren and our community.

Yes we did try but they were put down the far end of the west stand like some sort of naughty corner!
I believe if they are in the thick of the action & their mates can join them ( instead of having tickets spread out throughout the stadium) then it has a decent chance of creating atmosphere.
Also , as i said previously. people nearby are more likely to join in with singing if the singing is happening closer to them.

Only one thing though, i have noticed at away games some issues with the occasional wee idiot whos had one babycham too many & starts standing on & jumping on chairs , hammering the back wall etc, they are just a bloody nuisance . The group has to police itself & make sure these wee numpties dont spoil it for everyone else.

- Brian Caldwell ( St Mirren General Manager) " my initial only concern is the first row behind the tunnel incase someone falls over" so we might not be able to sit directly behind this but isn't that much of a problem!

there could be a case for the ground to be split into sections.
family stand - keep as is.
singing section - let the masses sing!
oap section - some nice comfy seats for the auld yins. A small electric current can be passed through the seats to make sure they're awake every 10 mins. They will need a larger number of toilets than the rest of the ground. Travel rugs can be hired.
moaning section - keep everyone who plan to moan in here. if budget allows then we could have a sound proof screen between the moaning section and the seats next to them. If the game isn't going well, punters can pay an extra fiver to get into the moaning section so they can let rip.
fighting section - charge more for this as we will need some to pay extra for police / stewarding / pr company to explain why we have a fighting section. Everyone in here has to fight someone - if the opposition can't send in some fighters, they have to fight each other. Would actually be better than the local majorettes, or some under 8 team playing penalty shoot outs that normally is papped as entertainment.
scran section - loads of food concessions concentrated around this area. the seat in front has a fold down table similar to the ones found on planes.
Booze section - seat service and a nice selection of beers and wine.
