Engineering makes the world go round. Just caught that yesterday.A great bit of engineering, indeed, and fortitude in putting it up. Tainted a wee bit by the nine lives lost, and also the far too short life-span of the bridge. I like it though, and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. On Sunday again. faraway saint
Just caught that yesterday. A great bit of engineering, indeed, and fortitude in putting it up. Tainted a wee bit by the nine lives lost, and also the far too short life-span of the bridge. I like it though, and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. On Sunday again. Wasn't it 7 lives lost? Seems being smug doesn't cover being wrong. Seven lives were lost during construction before the bridge was opened by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh on 4 September 1964.[9] Edited September 5, 2014 by faraway saint

faraway saint
I though Bridges was very good, the whole show was heavily edited, kind of sanitised it for me I'm afraid. Boyle?.................meh! He laughed at himself more than the audience. The rest, a struggle.

Bud the Baker
Watching Peaky Blinders, about a Birmingham gang-leader in post WWI Birmingham, on recommendation from a guy at work - unsure but one thing I didn't like was the use of contemporary music by the likes of Nick Cave, The White Stripes etc which I found a bit jarring. Bud the Baker
Just watched All You Pretty Things about the relationship between pop mucic & fashion. Really sloppy show just to pick an example how could Roxy Music's look when the emerged in 1972 be a reaction to the denim look on Status Quo's 1976 album Blue For You? Not sure if I'll watch Episodes 2 & 3 - actually I know I will although mainly just to hear the music.

Bud the Baker
American Werewolf In London - not quite telly but I'm just off the night shift and have spent the afternoon vegging out watching this classic again on DVD. A lot of the great horror films have funny moments - tension, relief and then the money shot. It's all about timing which separates the great from the also-rans in both fields. Giving my age away but it's got a great soundtrack and the lovely Jenny Agutter in the shower - what red-blooded male wouldn't follow her in to help her get clean............. 9½/10 - the only thing that could have improved it would have been incorporating Warewolves of London onto the soundtrack, which I believe was considered but apparently there was problems getting the rights to the song. Edit - I forgot to add some great cameos from the likes of David Schofield, Brian Glover and Rik Mayell..............
