JM1
Can't believe folk are upset about this. Political correctness gone mad. We won't be able to call them coloureds and make fun of their silly names next. Edited May 12, 2016 by JM1

strummer
Who is taking themselves too seriously? My main complaint here is that nothing on this thread is funny. I have made no comment about whether anything is offensive or not. I set my bar for humour a bit higher than tedious 1970 style fnaaar fnaaar type "jokes" and obvious puns. Just try posting something funny and/or clever and you might get better feedback. Tell us an oaksoft funny/ joke/ pun..and it will be given marks out of 10.. murray street
I have changed the thread title. I honestly did not think that chinky would be racist, I use the term "chinky" all the time when saying I am getting a chinese takeaway. To be more politically correct when I am going to my local shop I say "just off to the hamilton accies" I can remember in the falkland islands in 1983 we were banned from calling the locals "bennies" after the character from crossroads. So we started calling them "andies" "and he is still a benny" Of course we were banned from that so started calling them "stills" "and he is still a benny"
Howard Hughes in BlueSuedeShoes
I can't be arsed getting upset at some of these apparent sexist or racist remarks and I admit that some make me laugh. I'm not sexist or racist. I still get Irishmen telling me Scotchman, Englishman and Paddy jokes. Am I bad because I laugh and don't get upset? No, you're just someone who turns down a Springsteen ticket.......

After your piss poor attempts at humour on this thread I question your ability to spot a joke if it crawled up your arse.

stlucifer
You really are a sad individual. For what was originally a bit of harmless banter by the originator of the post I believe your retort is quite uncalled for (but that's just my opinion) We are allowed to laugh and partake in a bit of silliness on this forum and not take ourselves too seriously are we not? I believe there's a wee clue in the heading of this forum as to the potential content of each topic. Harmless banter? MY A**E! Using the "N" word for a coloured person must be "harmless banter" for the OP then?

Russian Saint
Harmless banter? MY A**E! Using the "N" word for a coloured person must be "harmless banter" for the OP then? Totally wrong my friend. I'm neither a racist not a bigot. Are you aware of the meaning of the "N" word? The use of that word is totally unacceptable. My point originally was that having being called a Jock, sweaty sock etc I don't take any offence to that. Having worked in various locations globally I have been on the receiving end of some vile remarks and threats because of my race.

I recall going to a (in Falkland Island terms) a big do in the main hall in Port Stanley. There were so many trouser bottoms that needed introducing to ankles, as well as several Tom Hanks look-a-likes from his scene walking home at the end of Big, suit flapping in the wind. I have worked as far afield as is possible from this country and it doesn't give me the right to verbally abuse someone of a different persuasion from me. Be that due to nationality, colour or sexual orientation. In fact. I would have thought that conversely, anyone whowas well travelled should know better than use inflammatory language. slapsalmon
Harmless banter? MY A**E! Using the "N" word for a coloured person must be "harmless banter" for the OP then? The word your referring to isn't a shortened version of the pc word though is it? It's not a like for like comparison. Some words I get are just out of order, but some for me depend on the tone in which it's used.
