No idea Ricky. Like everyone else I haven't seen any pre-season friendlies. Other than a third hand report from Stevie Mallan that Morias and Foley were outstanding during the Hibs game. I've not really heard much. I don't do twitter and the club haven't put on any match reports I can see.
We do have some signings though and Goody is making positive noises along with Tony's usual world beating predictions. Alan Stubbs is bemoaning the fact Tony didn't give him a magic hat has made the news too. In fact there has been more coverage of that than any of our pre season games.
I'm missing the football big time and I don't think TV coverage of empty stadiums will do much to scratch the itch.
Still what is, is what is.

How are things looking this preseason? Same manager, still looking to recruit but overall in a better place?

That Tony-F he's a nutter, so much of a nutter I'm surprised he doesn't post on here - unless of course one of use no better.
I remember him coming over to talk to me when I was queueing (a queue of one at that point) for tickets for the Trophy Presentation game against Morton game in April 2018, I had just completed my fourth N/S hadn't slept in approaching 20 hours  and was unable to put a coherent sentence together so I just pointed to my Ramones/Saints T-Shirt which contained his name - he shook my hand and said something nice. !
He'll always be Porn Star Tony to me,

Fecks sake for once I find myself agreeing with shull. Looks like I'm in a minority but the away strip is rank. It looks like it was designed by a drunk guy with a paint brush.
Did I meet a Joma rep one night in the pub. Nightmare.

What I will say, the early bird discount should be the flat season ticket price for this season.
This would at least serve a couple of purposes. Firstly, It wouldn't make anyone feel pressured into buying a ticket just now when financial uncertainty is still a very real threat for a lot of people.
Secondly, people don't know what they are getting in terms of number of games they can attend (or even how many games will be in the season) for next season regardless. It would be a decent gesture to announce the early bird price is actually being extended out to just being the full season ticket price this year. It is highly unlikely that we will get to our full allocation of 18/19 home games anyway.
I don't have a problem buying my ticket and have already done so, but I'm not keen on the whole 'buy early, guarantee your seat' campaign in current times.
If ticket is set at £303 (adult, west stand), then it should be out there at that price until the season starts - that way folk can choose if they want to invest/donate or not instead of feeling they need pony up just now. Several folk will likely be back at work by late July/early August...I don't like idea of them missing out on their seats or having to pay extra  because they couldn't do so in May or June.

£480 now... £540 after early bird.
    Value for money? For what?

I'm basically being asked to donate to the club to help keep it afloat...

With the threat of losing seats we have held since the first full season if we don't snap them up.

I get that. To those who can afford it... Great stuff.

    I'm currently furloughed.

No idea when or if I will be able to return to work.

Come August, almost certainly on reduced wages.

Taking a step back and being totally rational... I genuinely cannot justify buying season tickets at this time.

A couple of years back, I would have agreed with you on that - especially when the absurd split was introduced.  I still believe it is just a distortion of the initial competition/league.
However, I am now kinda converted to the idea, to the distortion of what would/should be a regular league - especially for teams such as Saints who will never have dosh to compete at the top with the Bigot Brothers.

There is now competition mid-season just to get into that top 6, then - after the split -if (like Saints, perennially) you're in the bottom half there is the fight to stay above those drop and play-off zones.  So even the doldrums of meaningless mid-table matches pre and post split are diminished.
I'd agree with you that all is not perfect... only in that there may be even better ways in which to construct leagues in order to inject more passion/enthusiasm/money intae Scottish fiba.
But as Scots are currently world leaders vis a vis the proportion of income to the game being generated by fans rather than other sources perhaps it IS working, it is competitive and attractive already?

Football fans come in many guises. For those like you who see their team as some sort of leading light through which the virtues of society should be set for all to see. I can understand the pain. Prices should be fair; integrity should present, and good moral standards should be set for all to see. Its almost a religion to guys and gals like you and all you see is corruption, deceit and disappointment. What a let down Mate. I feel your pain.

Well I don’t. Most folk I know give passing thoughts to their team’s politics. Bigots excepted but probably most of them are in it for the football too. We go to the football for fun. Yep it’s a weird concept but it can be a great day out. Meet your pals, catch up, have food and drink. Travel to weird exotic places and have some banter and a sing song. They go to the match feeling part of something bigger than themselves. That’s the key thing. We can all be billy big fish in our own little ponds of life but there is nothing like the excitement of been part of a team and donning the black and white on a matchday gives you an identity in the wider world where people normally wouldn’t give you a glance. The adventure starts with the planning and ends when you collapse on your settee on whatever day you return from the game. Winning is sublime but it’s not all about winning it’s about taking part.

So, for you and your fellow mourners of Scottish football, who want to dance on it’s grave and wallow in its failure. I’m sorry but the game still means a lot to most of us. We work hard for our money and through football we give a lot back to all the communities we visit and the town we support.  We don’t just waste it on Football clubs. We support the local businesses who supply food drink transport and anything else we need on our travels, even Taxi’s. More people use the trains on Match days across the UK than they do for work.

Being a Buddie, an Arab, A *** , a Hibbee or a whatever, is a life style. Embrace it. It’s got to be better than being a moaning faced, Victor Meldrew.

Did you know Richard Wilson (below) was born in Greenock. It's funny how you made me think of him but it sort of makes sense.

  25. Like
East Lothian Saint got a reaction from TediousTom in Plans for next season
    Shull give it a rest.
