Anyone who thinks he's been bad for the club need to stop listening to the empty heads like Wardrop. Gillespie , working with Lasley and SR , has been a shot in the arm over the last few years and will be a huge loss !

Gillespie , working with Lasley and SR , has been a shot in the arm over the last few years and will be a huge loss ! I think that he was in the "always going to go" category and it was only the timing that was ever in question. My biggest concern is who will Kibble appoint to replace him and how will they regard SMFC? My experience of changes at the top are that you often see change for change's sake so that the new guy can point to early "successes" that don't really help the organisation. You can also see that the drive from Kibble to get involved in the club was his brainchild so it is hardly surprising that he would be a success when following through on his own vision, will this be as important to his replacement? My hopes are that the replacement is sought from outside Kibble, Gillespie will be getting a good remuneration as both employee and possibly as a board member on some of Kibble's commercial ventures and he would want to continue that. Rangers won't see the need to make him resign any board positions if they seem potentially advantageous to them and there is a slight chance that the Kibble ship will be steering towards Govan as they seek to take advantage of any benefits they can offer. I will wait and see while remembering that there are now quite a few uncertainties that we didn't know about last week. I don't know if there are constraints on Kibble's shareholding should they ever decide to sell. I also wonder if SMISA kept some reserves to facilitate the purchase of Kibble's shares should they come available? I really hope so. If not, then maybe that is a contingency fund they should be looking at.

Although, kibble would presumably be able ask for whatever price they deem appropriate? SMISA also have cash in the bank. Unsure how much. I am absolutely no fan of the blue arsecheek but that is one blinkered view imo…..he’s done a more than decent job for us and for that will always have my goodwill until he does something, if he ever does, to St Mirren’s detriment. I absolutely reserve the right to hold a "blinkered view" when it comes to that mob who stole the clothes of a dead club without paying the debts of said club then proceeded to try to destroy Scottish football with their arrogant, better than you attitude and had the f'n nerve to come pleading with the authorities for a bed for the night year when their penny pinching led to them losing their stolen home. I'm just sad that those authorities caved in and gave them temporary shelter. May they go the way of the mob whose name they assumed. You absolutely hold the right to any view you want whether I agree with that view or not. I hope your grandson is good enough to reach a level where “they” might be interested in signing him for some inflated salary, that’ll be an interesting conversation in the “Lucifer” household 🤞👍

beyond our ken
So, did he withdraw due to the adverse publicity associated with the PDE regurgitating the care centre story and the alleged probe into Kibble or did he no longer fancy the gig?
