Big_Mougie reacted to turrabuddie in Motherwell v St Mirren 12/12/20
Amazing to think Flynn can’t get a start even though he’s back fit.
Can’t believe I’d have been asking that question a couple of months ago.
Would Magennis get a start in this squad ? -

Apart from the goal.
The only goal of the game.

Great stuff , really solid performance again. Potentially , our choice of talent in midfield is the best we've had in many a year. Love seeing us play through JDH , we haven't had that movement and passing since John McGinn. We need to get him tied down or he'll be away soon to the likes of Aberdeen !

Big_Mougie reacted to djchapsticks in Welcome Jake Doyle-Hayes
I hear box-to-box midfielder and even to this day the first Saints player that comes to mind is Steven Thomson.
If he's anywhere near as good as Thomson was, I'll have some of that!

Really?
Six years at Aston Villa.
"During his time at the Villains he had loan spells at League Two sides Cambridge United and Cheltenham Town. It was at Cheltenham where Jake featured regularly – appearing 36 times for the Robins last season."
That's not to be dismissed.
Might indeed be shite... but I'd rather support the lad and give him a chance. -
Big_Mougie reacted to JJ McG in Us v Morton.
Foley is miles off the player from last season, looks done now.

f**king idiocy from Tait. Today is gone but he's now left us in even worse shit for next 2 games.

Big_Mougie reacted to bazil85 in Jack Baird
Jack has been here over the life of multiple coaches. I get he was a likeable character but more often than not he was well out of his depth in the top flight. He wasn't any better a player at 22/23 than he was at 18/19.
Also, as a 24 year old with over 120 league appearances for the club, claiming he hasn't had "a chance" is staggering. In fact it's just completely wrong.
Right move for everyone. Hopefully a better option coming to Paisley and he can get some more game time at an appropriate level.
As for "scrap the academy" there is absolutely nothing about releasing Jack Baird that suggests a change in behaviour towards the academy or developing young players. Something St Mirren have undoubtedly been one of the best teams in Scotland at in recent years.

Big_Mougie reacted to santaponsasaint in Lewis Morgan.
I listened to the pod cast thought Lewis came over as the great guy he is. In his time at St.Mirren I was lucky to get to know him well and his mum and dad. Lovely family. Great player for us. I remember him playing his his first u20s he was so thin his Jersey was hanging off him. But he had pace. And good technique. I will always love his last game and scoring the winner V Morton. Then celebrating behind the goal to the Morton fans. Brilliant. Best of luck to him in Miami.

No wonder this site is dying on its arse. People being criticised for watching a st mirren game.

Big_Mougie reacted to mattman in Gary McKenzie
An injury free Gary will be a great asset for them, half expected him to sign for a championship side

I imagine Airlines will have bigger issues at the minute than throwing cash at sponsoring a football team -

If only we could get this firm to sponsor the stadium.

Big_Mougie reacted to Fricky-Troll in Playing squad
The squad at present has every chance of doing well.
The astonishing yet not surprising negativity about the squad and new players goes beyond opinion and becomes character assassination.
My view is we will positively surprise lots of people this upcoming season

This place is a f**king joke. You guys have got real issues. I popped back in for rumours and - believe it or not - some football chat. Not to worry.

Big_Mougie reacted to Tommy in Speculation Thread
You were the only guy that could get us out of the pub early since it was often the best entertainment of the day
The Morton supporters in my work hated you more than Laverty and Yardley so take that as an honour

Some of the best memories at Love Street are of your PP days. Outstanding performance. 10/10 every week.

The pole dance to Shania Twain's "man I feel like a woman" while Andy Goram warmed up, was comedy gold.

Big_Mougie reacted to southsidebud in St Mirren Kit For Season 20/21
I like this - probably get my first new shirt in years now.
Be good to help the club out as well in the current circumstances.
They may benefit many people thinking the same thing by not releasing a howler for a change 🙂

Big_Mougie reacted to TopCat in The End Is Nigh
Feel this format is a bit tired. Twitter and Facebook are much more lively than this place.
Definitely a question of when and not if this place goes. It’s pretty much the same group of middle age men that have been posting on here for over a decade.
It means that most/all threads descend into circular arguments between the same people who hold bizarre grudges against each other.
Means wading through a lot of guff to find any good content.
Do any young Saints fans use this? Is there anyone under 25 on here?

Big_Mougie reacted to southsidebud in Squad Additions
Like others have said, I'm sad to see almost all of the last major stalwarts of the great escape leaving (just Mcgennis left I think) - definitely the end of an era.
It probably was time for both of them but still.
I remember watching Stephen McGinn hitting that cracking equaliser in the win against TNS just before the away game at Ayr - that for me was him announcing his arrival and the first real signs of life for Saints that year.
Some great memories after that - thanks to both of them for their part and for the others who played their parts in subsequent seasons
