Missing 22 league games last season is reason enough to offload him.
No point in having a decent player if he is sitting in the stands most weeks.

I would have questions for Stubbs, but also for the chairman and CEO. Stubbs seemed quite confident of getting players in when he spoke after the Killie game. I would think it might be as much down to the chairman and CEO that these haven't materialised as it is the manager, given they hold the pursestrings and do the negotiations with other clubs.
I'm not going to start slating the guys brought in, because none of them have had enough time to show what they can do yet bar Coulson, who has been impressive, and Kpekawa who has shown some promise and some worrying moments. Having no friendlies before the Killie game would have been a bitter blow for the manager in giving those new players more minutes without the pressure of a competitive game.
Yesterday was only a friendly, but regardless of that it would have been a huge blow to morale, which is not good this close to the season. Stubbs needs to now decide what he 11 is, and the formation, and go with it against Queens Park and Dumbarton. Some continuity and consistency in selection is the least we can expect, and hopefully we can restore some of our pride and morale and go into the first game in a more optimistic mood as both a team and fanbase. A couple of good signings would also go some way to appeasing the fans, who are getting understandably restless already.

We badly need minimum 2 wingers and 2 strikers as we currently have no wingers at the club.

Smith and Mullen are no10s playing behind the striker they have no pace to play out wide.

Cooke looks like a downgrade from Ross Stewart and king looks like a downgrade from hippolyte.

Hope We manage to get players in this week in time for the Dundee game.

I think Stubbs was hoping to get mikey Johnstone in from Celtic last week but for Celtic to decide to wait for now.

With other premiership teams struggling in the league cup I don’t think we are alone in being behind in putting together a decent squad aswell

Felt a bit for Patterson up top. Clearly has had no pre season, yet was never gonna have a chance to do anything worthy of winning a contract.

Mullen and Smith too far away from when we got anywhere close to getting over the halfway line.

Thought he worked hard, chased every ball and ran the channels well. Poor lad never stood a chance.

    Cracking thread..............................
Reading through from the day of the game it's startlingly similar to another thread on here.
This was a competitive game, unlike yesterdays friendly.
    Enjoy.

Doesn’t make him an ‘absolute legend’

JR whored himself to just about every club that came calling, even having the audacity to speak to a club in February, whilst he should’ve been preparing his players for a massive match at Livingston.

Only interested in one thing like he was back in 2010 when caused absolute chaos before the final.

I just don't get the JR love-in , I really don't. He did half a job with us then baled , even Fergie hung about long enough to see us established in the top league , he took over when we were at our lowest ebb and turned it round far more dramatically than Ross , yet he still got pelters on his return. Ross took us to the top division , and left us with a squad that would not have survived .The pish he spouted last season about him being a nice fit for St Mirren and that he loved the club was just that , pish. I hope he fails big time !

We didnt need VAR. What we needed was a group of players to be professional when going about their business.
Complaining about VAR hen we were playing a team from the Lowland League is embarassing.

    Stop bumping your gums.
You have no right to demand St. Mirren cow tie to your whims. They said the programmes will be available ahead of the match TOMORROW.
What makes you so special that they would suddenly change plans midstream. IF you're going to the game buy the bl00dy programme then. If not then you miss out. If you're going and decide to not buy the programme ahead of the game then DON'T. We don't need your life story.

    Not going.

    Reasons....

    1. £12 for a kickabout is a f**king joke.

    2. My ex-brother in law is a Mackem and he's an utter prick of a human being.
    3. See above but substitute "ex-brother in law" for Stuart Dickson

    4. Jack Ross. Nice bloke. Sneaky bastard.

I honestly wouldn't put any stock at all in the league Cup. Yes, we won it in 2013 but the dynamic of the tournament was very different then and set up to take the early stages more seriously as these rounds started when a completed squad was in place.
The group stages are and should be treated as a gelling exercise. If we get through, it's a nice bonus but let's be honest, in mid July, most squads are still in that stage where they are incomplete and getting to know one another. Next Saturday is not, nor should it be a milestone to start judging.
We'll be a work in process right up until the real stuff starts.

No animosity taken. I disagree with Div and my mate Drew on this, but there’s absolutely no animosity and the next time I see them at a game, we will most likely discuss events ON the park and won’t even mention off the field stuff.
I genuinely think my position on this is crystal clear. As I have said many times, I don’t expect or ask anyone to agree, and I wish the scheme all the best in my absence. I really do not know how clear I can make it, but here it is again.
Monies were ring-fenced for share purchase. The club, instead of allowing this ring-fenced money to ‘gather dust in the bank’, wanted to use it for something other than the purpose it was intended. IMHO the chain of events then should have been to inform members that this was their intention, and have a vote to see the percentage of SMiSA members who sanctioned using their money for any other purpose. At this point, NO specific project should even have been put out there. IF the club received a ‘yes’ vote allowing that money to be used, THEN the club had a mandate to sit down and say ‘astroturf, fixing the airdome, upgrading the cookers in hospitality, signing Lionel Messi....’ what do we want to put to the members now that we’ve got their OK to do something with that money.
In my opinion, the way they went about it was not the way I think people in their position should go about their business. I think discussing astroturf before even asking for members permission to even TOUCH their money was at best poor form. I think it skewed the vote. It was, in my opnion, a foregone conclusion that the vote was a ‘yes’ vote. The fact that it was a benefit to Jack Ross who wanted it made it a shoe-in. Of course, the club need to do what they can to help Jack Ross, or Sir Stubbsy, but IMHO using money ring-fenced for share purchase is not the way they should have went about it. Not even borrowing it, dipping into it, or doing a single thing with it rather than what it was meant for. I find the fact they all talked about the astroturf in regard to this money rather distasteful and disrespectful to those who had paid that portion of their monies for one clear purpose. Clearly, many SMiSA members do not find it disrespectful, or poor form, or anything. That’s entirely their perogative and I respect that.
No-one needs to agree with it, but I firmly believe I have made a crystal clear case of why I absolutely disagreed with the way the club acted in this regard. No-one need follow me in leaving, no-one need agree, no animosity.
    Gie’s a signing.

This thread is pish. There's a surprise. It's what happens when the tank is emptied.

I get your point just find it sad that some feel the need to resign though that is their choice. Personally I don't mind loans being used for certain things if needed as long as there are guarantees for it to be paid back. The money is sitting in a account doing nothing not making much %. That's my own opinion not everyone's. Regarding the £2.00 my choice would be a rainy day found or at least let it accumulate to a much larger sum. It's not and I'm not giving up on fan ownership because of it. There is a much bigger picture than individuals that is the safe keeping of St Mirren for generations to come 51% of fan ownership can only do that.  You want to be part of it fine. You can afford it but won't disappointing but that's a choice no one will stop.

You make it sound like the people who have pulled out are being petty as if they’re squabbling over the ‘silly small things’ as you put it.

Allowing the club access to 50k of ring-fenced funds is a pretty dangerous precedent to set I believe and it was never proposed that this would be the case somewhere down the line when people signed up for it. I certainly wouldn’t class that as silly or small.

As for the quarterly spend projects some of them are just a complete waste of cash. One of them actually being so bad it put us at loggerheads with the club, leaving them with no choice but to ask the fans to reject it.
