Doakes reacted to JJ McG in Message From Carswell
Not very often I agree with topcat but to be fair you have been hounding carswell for months and giving him cheek on Twitter after games calling him a ghost and all sorts etc.
He's quite right to send you a direct message if you ask me, you seem like a total pain in the tits.

Doakes reacted to HSS in Smirren Playing Staff And Social Media - A Ban Looming ?
No need for a complete ban on Social Media. What is needed is to educate players on what is acceptable to post.
I find it amazing that anybuddie can find it acceptable for players to post their love and support for a club that we are playing in less than 2 weeks.I'm not for a minute suggesting the 2 players will give less than 100%,if selected, but any mistakes they may make in that game gives our Fans ammunition to suggest otherwise.
If players don't like it then tough, don't sign for us.

Doakes reacted to pozbaird in Smisa & Gordon Scott Submit Bid
Let's have a think. Where could we get a cash injection that would allow St Mirren to buy a bit of success by seriously upping the money spent on players, while also investing far bigger sums in club infrastructure and associated non-football areas like a fancy new website, more commercial staff, maybe a set of those fancy heat-lamps for Tommy Doc' to make the grass grow in winter....
1. A Scottish Saints-supporting Roy McGregor type turns up out of the woodwork who hasn't until now appeared not only during the last six years the club has been for sale, but never turned up at any time during SG & Co's tenure.
2. A Saints fan wins the Euromillions.
3. A Sheik Mansoor or Roman Abramovich turns up, not at an English Championship club with a path to the land of milk and honey, but instead fancies a crack at a club with a chance of the Bells B&Q Ramadens Petrofac Challenge Diddy Cup.
4. All the high-profile and semi-high profile Saints supporting drummers, journalists, writers, TV sports presenters, and businessmen get together and decide to pool their resources, spunk it away in an Eddie Thompson fashion and leave their kids with fcuk-all inheritance.
5. Erm, cannae' even think of a 5, unless a 100 million barrel oil field is discovered under the airdome.
So, the answers to the points above would appear to be: no, no, no, no, and highly fcuking unlikely.
Do you know what? I think I'll back the SMiSA/GLS bid and give it a chance.

See there's a striking off application submitted to dissolve "Douglas Street Ltd".
Must be all systems go?

Doakes reacted to div in Smisa & Gordon Scott Submit Bid
Chick admitted on air tonight that the real reason he isn't backing the fans bid through SMiSA is because he's got some involvement in another bid team that are seemingly preparing a counter offer.
If we don't get 1000 fans backing this bid and it fails then fair enough an alternative bidder will eventually buy the club but it's pretty poor that a high profile fan is sticking the knife into the fan ownership bid at this point to pursue how own ambitions.
As far as I remember, and I might be wrong, Chick Young was an active supporter of the 10000Hours bid so he's more faces than the town hall clock on fan ownership.
Chick said "fan ownership doesn't work - and don't give me Hearts - they are only working because Ann Budge put up most of the money".
Erm, you mean like Gordon is putting up most of the money here?

Doakes reacted to Drew in Stuart Carswell
I can't get too upset about what the players post on Twitter.
By way of a positive contrast, however, Alex Rae posted a thank you to St Mirren supporters for being the '12th man' yesterday. A nice (and astute) touch from our gaffer that will go some way towards enhancing his growing reputation amongst the St Mirren support.

Might be an interesting poll. Does it bother you if a Saints player tweets support for their big team a couple of weeks before we play them at "home" ? For me it makes us look like a right diddie outfit.

Doakes got a reaction from Sonny in Stuart Carswell
If he wants to post stuff like that he should have a private twitter. Publicly tweeting support for a team that we're actually playing against in a few weeks time is madness, utter madness.

What Trump is planning for Turnberry actually looks inspired. Best of it is, Mexico is paying for it all.

Doakes reacted to TopCat in Punt Or Keep?
It's people like you that scare me about fan ownership.
We should spend what comes in and not a penny more.
Basically you're saying we should speculate with the long term future of the club to increase the chance of short term gain?
Madness. Thankfully we won't do that.

Congratulations to everyone who has worked on this,it must have been pretty time consuming. I've just sent a message to SMiSA asking to be kept informed and if I can pay 10 years subscription up front.

Doakes reacted to Soctty in Alex Rae - Report Card
For illustration purposes only.
This was the table when Rae took over.
Two wins in 16 league games,
1 point off the relegation playoff,
3 points off the bottom,
8 points off the promotion playoff places,
29 points off the top.
Ths is the table if we take only the games played since Rae took over.
8 wins in 15 games,
16 clear of the relegation playoff place,
19 clear of the bottom,
In the promotion play off places,
9 points off the top.
That shows the improvement in the team's results since Alex Rae took over. The guy deserves credit.

A few players doing their best to make the punt list.

Doakes got a reaction from Vambo57 in Non Seat Allocated Season Tickets
Don't see the fuss. We never have a big enough crowd to fill the stand, but when people are spread all over the place it really does ruin the atmosphere.
Having a non allocated stand would definitely be a positive in terms of atmosphere. Even if it's only 1 or 2 sections.
All for it. Good idea for a thread Dave!
