Only "ist" I will be is pist to drown my sorrows tom night when Croatia get humped

I cant believe how many people are on the verge of a complete mental breakdown over the prospect of a country they don't live in winning a Cup their own country hasn't qualified for in more than 2 decades. Not one of you could point Croatia out on a map either.

It truly is bizarre.

Misplaced patriotism by a bunch o patriotists. Disgraceful behaviour. Should be reported to the Ismist authorities.

Drowning in their own misery is punishment enough.

If England win this on Sunday they might want to brace themselves.

I wonder if the Samaritans are fully prepared for this. I remember when they had helplines to aid Take That fans when they split up.

I wonder who will play Harry Kane in the film and the adapted TV series?

Local rivalries and derbies is a major feature in football.

Most football fans do not want to see their 'local' rivals win.

Its part and parcel of football. Its part of the entertainment.

I enjoy our local rivalry with Morton and enjoy it when we beat them but truthfully wish them well in other games. Same with our near neighbours in Glasgow when they play in Europe. As for England, I find the present manager, captain and team to be OK and wish them well......the downside is the English Media. Thinks...they must have laughed loudly at Scotland in 1978 when we seemed convinced that we would (not could) win the World Cup in Argentina. We must have been unbearable.

More to do with having to put up with an other country TV during the tournament.  Do you think the whole of France gets Germany TV rammed down their throat, or Portugal with Spain etc during the tournament ?   Oh and since I can point out Croatia on a map, can I support them tomorrow   ?

The Scottish media had never been forced onto the English unlike what we need to put up with on a daily basic.

How does that answer my question?
In what way does either of those two things demonstrate discrimination, hatred etc?
The black and white minstrel thing was about entertainment for a start. Al Jolson for example was and still is revered in black communities. His blackface act is credited by countless black people as leading the way to genuinely black actors breaking into Hollywood. The man took an active stance against racism.
If topless waitresses were indicative of sexism, women wouldn't freely engage in it in virtually all countries of the world. The internet is full of women prepared to do exactly that.
You PC types really need to educate yourselves before telling the rest of us what to think snd say.

“The black and white minstrel thing was about entertainment for a start” as was bear bating in less enlightened times. Do you think the minstrels are still entertaining? If not, what has changed?

“Al Jolson for example was and still is revered in black communities.” No he’s not. Where is your evidence for this lie?

“women wouldn't freely engage in it in virtually all countries of the world.” “Freely”?

Here is the thing about PC- Yes at my age I need to careful what I say, but we need to move on and get with the times which are far more acceptable

800 years ago it was ok to feed people to Lions

200 Years ago it was ok to have Slaves as property

60 years Homosexuality was a crime

40 years ago, we could easily use racist words and have types

And even today we have some "clubs" exclusive to one gender....

I am all for PC and it still has a long long way to go

Switch off your telly.

Nobody is forcing anything on you or anyone else.

I would need to switch off for more than 50 years going by 1966    and so do I turn off the laptop, don't look at the newspapers in the pub, and keep the radio off as well ?

Read up on Noble Sissie and Eubie Blake for a start. Then read up about his funeral and who was represented there. Jackie Wilson wrote about him in a song and he had many high profile black friends.

Blackface came at a time when for racist reasons it was very difficult to hire black actors. Blackface was used to get around this problem to tell certain stories and to introduce the idea of black stage performers to audiences.

There is no need for blackface now because those barriers are no longer present. That however is no excuse for ill-educated numpties to start rewriting history to fit their agenda. I am including some academics in that too by the way.

As for women freely exposing themselves, yes the word freely is appropriate unless you are suggesting the entire porn industry operates on forcing women into performing.

You need to educate yourself. I cant do it for you.

Only you can explain why this affects you so much.

Where is on your laptop?

The radio I listen to mainly plays music, change the channel.

Amuses me why people let it be an issue in any way.
