faraway saint
Seen an item on the ITN news about police bursting into a pub down souff. At least 8 people all having a jolly time, 2 were a bit annoyed their game of pool was disturbed. 🤡🤡 One particular party goer, an elderly gentleman, was quite willing to talk to the reporter, and he was quite adamant that this was no different than going shopping. "Do you wear a mask when you go shopping" he was asked, "Oh yes" he says proudly pulling one from his pocket. "But you, and no one, were wearing masks in the pub"..................................."Erm, yeah, so"............................ This is the level of fcukwits the police are dealing with every day. Tommy
Went for a walk along the Clyde behind braehead. 7 buses sitting outside the entrance with only a couple of them with people on them. There were even a couple of double deckers among them. Was the same last week in Paisley so beg the questions, why so many buses since there are very few people apart from workers, out and about. My local overground trains are still running EVERY 15 minutes into Liverpool Street, Tubelines are still about two minutes between trains... They're maintaining a semblance of normality and I can see the point during busy periods (rush-hour etc) as we don't want crowds breathing on each other, but I have no real rationale or justification for such a seamless transport system still in operation. faraway saint
The Scottish government are speaking quite positively about the slow signs that the current restrictions are starting to have an effect. Can't see anything more restrictive rules coming worth talking about in but the current situation will remain for another 4-6 weeks IMO. Public transport companies are getting paid quite a bit of money by government to operate full services, I would assume it's cheaper in long term than paying furlough and compensation for reducing services. Meanwhile, our FM and the PM refuse to consider proper quarantine measures for those coming into the country, despite a report saying it was foreign travel into the country that led to it getting a grip again. The FM today was asked about that - oh yeah, some countries are doing quarantine hotels, that you would need to pay for like Australia and New Zealand (who are both on top of this). Will we do that here? Nah, youre all right, why bother do whats working in other countries? The government had a choice - stop all foreign travel, in and out, until the virus is gone, or restrict our domestic lives continually with constant lockdowns. They made the wrong choice.
