Balmullo Bud
Notts County changed from amber and black to black and white in 1890. Saints changed from blue and red to black and white in 1884, making St Mirren the first team to wear black and white stripes.

W6er
If we are the first club in the world to wear them, shouldn't we make a song and dance about it? It implies that Newcastle United and Juventus, for a start, have ultimately imitated us!

Slarti
Aye, that's essentially what I'm asking. If nobody wore them before 1884, then we're the first to wear them.We know that we were before Notts County, Newcastle and Juventus. Their first teams anyway, because apparently Newcastle's second string wore black and white stripes (actually, it was the second string of one of the 2 sides that merged to form Newcastke United).
