Eh up lads. Still harbour a soft spot for you lot after seeing your brilliant supporters at Hillsborough two years back and been desperate to watch you ever since. Happy to report I'm finally managing it today, sat on a train passing Annan now. Hopeful for another win to put you in a better position in the relegation fight. It'll be a tough game no doubt but it seems Jack Ross hasn't half improved the squad's personnel and level of play and fingers crossed today helps him to drag you to safety.

Davis is the best centre half that we have had at the Club in many a year. Better than McGregor in my opinion. Could easily play for most teams in the Premiership. We are very fortunate to have him and hopefully can get him for a bit longer.

Jack Ross has a 100% league win rate as St Mirren manager at Palmerston I'm sure by 5pm tomorrow that will still be the case. Should be in Dumfries for a pleasant pub Lunch by midday followed by  behaviour absolutely condoned by the drink responsibly campaign before heading to the ground.
Couldn't make the Dundee Utd game but I heard we rode our luck.
I think we'll miss Davis but we'll just have to live with that now. We need the ability to score which was lacking at Raith. No-one would take a dig there and we paid for it.
Another 2-3 would be exciting but hard on the nerves. The Drink Responsibly campaign manager obviously wasn't a St Mirren fan.

What a fickle lot we are. I believe the call prior to the cup games was for JR to give the new players game time to build up match fitness and get them to gel as a team. Now some of us are moaning because the players might get tired.
How about the fact they're footballers who should be able to play more than 90 mins a week. Can we say that in the modern era or do we need to tuck players in bed early every night,  and make every excuse for them not to perform.
Maybe they were just shite last night. Can you say that in the modern era?

    Where's the fight?

I was shot down by some on Sunday for saying we needed to forget those comments. We looked as though we thought we had a divine right to win last night. The pressing and harrying shown against Hibs last midweek was nowhere to be seen.

Let's get back to working hard, rather than believing we're the finished article, a team for too good to go down. Quality is one thing, fight and determination is also required to get us out of the mess we remain in. We have what it takes to do it - now we need to show we can work for it.

Great showing tonight! Superb work rate and closing down . I think the most pleasing thing from tonight was it was not just a few,  but every player in the team , we had no passengers at all tonight. If we show this fight in every game till end of season we will be fine.

Surely there is a place for boo boys in Scottish football. There are two main reasons for going to a game which are to enjoy the game or enjoy the occasion.  Sure you expect to do both but your ability to enjoy and understand the nuances of the game depends on your knowledge of the rules tactics, skills, history, players and a host of other factors which affect the result.

Everyone has different levels of knowledge of these factors and generally those who have played the game at competitive levels have a better understanding of the intricacies of the game which allow them to enjoy certain aspects of the game more than less knowledgeable fans.

Your ability to enjoy the occasion is not hampered your knowledge of the game. For some people whilst not an ancillary to the occasion, the game is only part of the occasion. Meeting your mates for a beer before and after is as important as the match. The atmosphere on the terracing can be more exciting than the game. The feeling of being part of something can be more important than the thing itself. To them the team performance is not the main indicator of how good their day out was but simply adds or detracts from their enjoyment of the occasion.

Not as many people play the game now as when I was young and a sport that is struggling to improve attendances needs to attract fans. Look at Darts the PDC embraced the boo boys who were there for the occasion, gave them a place and ‘Stand up if you like darts’ means bigger attendances, bigger names and more prize money.

Now I’m not saying we should accommodate the likes of the Green Brigade but not everyone is a purist and Ideas of how to motivate players differ between supporters. There is a place for boo boys. Whilst a sin bin may work in here it might not work for fans on match days. If they are not offensive, on many occasions sadly the boo boys are more entertaining than the team performance.

True mate everyone entitled to theirs.

I'm not saying JR hasn't made mistakes but he is way down the it's (enter name) fault list.

FWIW my list goes like this

    1. Previous BOD
    2. Current Squad
    3. Alex Rae
    4. Tommy Craig
    5. Calum Ball
    6. Ross Tokely
    7. Arthur Boruc
    8. Ian Harte

    Indeed.
Ross wasn't my pick for new manager (I wanted Hughes in but he knocked it back). That said, like most, I have backed JR in what has been an invidious mission to turn a wretched season round with what has amounted to a largely hopeless squad of players - albeit, he has clearly made plenty of mistakes.
Others, it seems, are relishing the fact that it hasn't worked out as we'd hoped.  A smug satisfaction is apparent that suggests that their own conceit rates higher than their concern for the club. That says a lot more about them than it does about Jack Ross, JJ, or anyone else, I'm afraid. Its pathetic, really.

Our club has done lots, set up a new bar where there was a void, joint SMiSA Gordon Scott buy out, funded a new disabled platform, repaired the problems with the facilities at Ralston, cleaned up the stadium, provided funds to repair the USH, provided funds to buy new players, encouraged the fans to bring donations for a Christmas food bank collection that was a huge success.
These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Where are all of these achievements celebrated on here? The talkers would rather point out all the negatives in what the club is trying to achieve.
We have a lot to be proud of, it's demoralising when all you read is constant negative comments. I wonder at times why they bother to do this in their own time at their own expense without any reward.

In terms of what they are doing with my zillions of pounds in direct debit payments, so long as it isn't funding the renewal of Trident and Theresa May's next pair of leather trousers, I'm relaxed about that.

Nice to see a back page spread about the fans council 1877 club.
In the renewed spirit of co-operation between Buddies with the best interest of our club at heart , perhaps the FC might consider some reciprocal advertising for this worthwhile venture on their site and also have copies of the paper made available in the club (if it isnt already)
We (most of us ) have similar aims & desires for our club ,albeit with different ideas on how to achieve them but lets not forget .... we are all Buds.

I am quite pleased by this news.  As a non smisa member and just a lowly shareholder and season ticket owner my opinion does not count for much these days but I am genuinely happy to see the club, my club benefit.  As to whether smisa are keeping/breaking promises made to the peasant and premier members bothers me not a jot.  Not a jot does it bother me indeed.

All that matters is that the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co are seeing some sort of benefit.  Just like they did when Smisa paid for clean towels, employed a painter to paint the terracing at Love street, bought Stuart Keane and the such like.  This is smisa doing exactly what it was designed/founded to do.

Incidentally if smisa members are going to cancel direct debits and argue like impetulent children amongst themselves then I fear that this fans buy out will never happen.  Its only a few months into the ten year wait and look at you lot.  The club benefit so be happy and feel good that your organisation helped.

bender rodriguez reacted to bazil85 in Buy the buddies funds paid early
We currently have 1325 paying members for buy the buddies.  By my calculations of £10 a month going to the £1 million buy out if we assume everyone is on £12 a month and no one took the £2,500 packages (which of course isn't true I believe 14% of people are on the £25 package and the £2,500 packages got sold out.  I'm just looking at minimum circumstance) the loan would be paid off in just under six years and three months.  Taking into account the bigger packages looking at it being easily paid off in under six years.
My point is would current paying members be willing to continue their commitment for the full ten years even after the loan is paid off.  Instead of £2 a month going into a discretionary fund we would have £12/25 X 1300 odd.  Would be a great added bonus for the club to grow.  For myself personally I'd be happy to leave it open ended beyond the 10 years.
Echo what other people have said as well in regards to income, would be good to get a few extra fans down on a Saturday.  If we get an extra 200/300 a week that's easily a player on the books which is badly needed sooner than later.  Hope everyone is encouraging their absent buddies down for a massive game Saturday. Incorrect. Mallan has the unfortunate problem of being better than every one of his team mates. None of the other St. Mirren players are on his wavelength and he is clearly becoming frustrated by this. He has shown so much more bite in the tackle than the rest of the midfield despite being the apparent flair player also.
Like McLean he will go on to much better for things (likely for peanuts).

Thistle maybe just edged it, but wasn't much in it. This forum will be fun over the next two weeks, I'll get in there first:
I've been supporting Saints week in week out for 100 years and this is the worst Saints team I've ever seen.
The BOD are to blame and they must sell up to the next man who shows up with a brown bag at Greenhill Road. No questions asked.
TC should be hung, drawn and quartered at Paisley cross, and his limbs should be displayed at the four corners of SMP as a warning.
    Think that about covers it!
In reality, TC will almost certainly be our manager for the Accies game. I'm behind him (as I would be behind any new manager) till Christmas. If we are in the bottom 2 then, he should go.

Trying to work out what St Mirren mean to me as like a good few other posters I have been following Saints home and away since 6 years of age which I was full member of Saints junior supporters , I'm now 56. For the life of me I just can't give up supporting the club. To me it's bigger than Tommy Craig , Stuart Gilmour or anyone else. The club is a Renfrewshire institution that's been going since the late 1800's and I want it to go on till; time ends. To do that it needs a support. To get out the shit we are in just now it needs backing from us the fans for our club.
Most of the time it is frustrating being a Saints fan but then good days like cup wins , beating the old firm or simply going on a 4 game win is as good as it gets most of the time it's a struggle because too many Renfrewshire people wont support the local team so we can well do without losing diehards.
I'm not sticking up for Tommy here but you bring in the best manager in the world with the injuries we currently have he would struggle also.
Back the club guy's it really does need you.
