bingboy reacted to Herbie in Ayr United v St Mirren Championship 27/8/16
Yup. This is the crux of it. 90% of our team are decent players. What makes a good team though are tactics and teamwork. Both of these things are the responsibility of the management. We are sadly lacking in both and there are only two people to blame for that. I'm now seriously regretting renewing my season ticket. -

We were spoiled by Ferguson, Clunie and McFarlane in the 70's and 80's but not by Gus and Danny who could barely win a home league game between them at the new stadium.
Yes we are even worse now but that doesnt mean things were great a few years ago.

I'm in the bar behind the home end, no monthly fees, no entrance fee, no having to be signed in.

We'll be stroking the ball about as though we own the place.
What did Vardy's pace do for England?
We'll show pace running back to the halfway for the restart each time we score.
Be positive young man.
By the way, where is the pace?

Thanks everyone for their kind words.Tam donated his organs which enabled others the gift of life.I am so proud to call him my best mate.He was so upbeat about our bid to buy the club and as such we cannot let this opportunity go.I loved this guy so much and trust our fans to reach our goal.Theres only one Tam McGarry. He never left my side !!!!!

Michael G contacted him when we did the book Love Street The Final Chapter.Michael explained that the book was by fans and for fans, to which Sir Alex then agreed to give an interview.
I wrote to him afterwards with the full transcript of my interview of Tony Fitzpatrick and received a personal reply a week later.
Not all that hard to contact if keen enough... And a great idea imo.
If fans of today could mend that bridge who knows what could happen. With Tony F as CEO there has never been a better time or opportunity!

Happy to report that a few friends of mine have simply not got round to signing up yet so i,m hopeful that this is the case with a lot of our fans and i,m looking forward to a surge of applications following tonights meeting. The opportunity to take control of our club must surely be grasped with both hands following an abysmal 3 years and i feel that Alex Rae and Faz will awaken us from the slumber. This in turn will return the feel good factor to our support.
I can fully understand the apathy with some of our support but i genuinely feel that without everyones support this bid and the future of our club will be compromised.Lets get it over the line by spreading the word.Get your brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles signed up.We are St mirren!!!!!!

bingboy reacted to Soctty in This Thursdays Meeting Regarding Fan Ownership
This bid will most likely fail. We have a small support, and for it to be split due to petty personal and political reasons is very sad. This is about St Mirren Football Club, not about political parties, not about any previous bid, but the opportunity for the fans to own the club. If you're not buying into it for any reason other than financial or footballing reasons, we will all probably live to regret it soon enough.

Personally speaking I'm happy to pay £12 a month for ten years just to know that my kids and grandkids will have a club to follow and "enjoy" in years to come.
I don't care about having my name on a wall and I've no interest in sitting on boards or committees.
I'd also be happy to keep contributing to a fund even after the club is bought and paid for but I'd want to see that money invested in the club either in terms of the academy or the infrastructure/facilities for the supporters.
Stuff like stadium maintenance should be budgeted for by the club. I don't think the fans can really be expected to pay for that on top of everything else!
I spoke with a fella last night who I don't know that well, but he's a Saints fan I see every week and I did struggle to explain why he should be signing up. Eventually I just said he should attend the meeting and find out more.

Why is George the public face of this bid rather than Gordon?
I'm not having a go here just genuinely intrigued as to why Gordon isnt more visible on this.
Given the lack of strong leadership at the club in the last few years, it is a little concerning to me that he is standing back and letting George take the lead role.
Is it maybe that he thinks people might think there is something in it for him personally if he's seen to be pushing it whereas that's less likely if a respected local MP fronts it?

A complete nonsense that Douglas McNeil refusing to let George Adam on radio when he is openly offering... Douglas says he only wants Gordon in yet George is SMISA chairman so is very relevant .
We need someone on to counteract the nonsense that chic young was shouting the other night

bingboy reacted to Grumpy Old Fan in Rangers To Be Given South Stand
So having moved this season to sit with grandsons in Family Stand we are to be evicted. So much for our CEO wanting home support behind goals. Why not just give them the whole of main stand and be done with it. This is a betrayal by a board that is no longer interested in supporting the club. Do I want move elsewhere. Do I want to renew season ticket for next year. Do I just ask for alternative tickets and sell them to Rangers fans. Are Renfrew playing at home that day.

You never know, we have good facilities - gold status for the youth set up, good coaches will want to have that sort of set up. We move on and hopefully up.

I wouldn't be too concerned.
Flareybob has a 0% strike rate in his predictions/wind-ups.
I wonder where Billy Clabby is these days....

bingboy reacted to Seaside Nipper in Missing The Premier
Missing the premier, nope. Would i miss the championship if we dropped outa that, nope.
What I am missing is my club,St Mirren, playing with a belief, a shape and some hope. I'd follow us in any division, anywhere, just get something into the team that is worth the hope of the support.
Scottish football as a whole is pish, the Scottish Premiership is often barely the equivalent of the Vanarama conference ffs. Indeed the conference hosts games that look better attended and more competitive than our top league. The Scottish game is utterly unbalanced as we all know, but that doesn't excuse the general all round lack of ability neither does it justify the self preservation short termist administration that ruins the game completely.
I'm torn , I hate Scottish football and the crappy leagues , the synthetic surfaces and the part completed stadia with dodgy attendances, BUT I love St Mirren.
It would appear I am f**ked then........

bingboy reacted to Dirty Sanchez in Missing The Premier
The top league is the place to be ideally, but I've never been less interested in football, in general, than I am now.
If I was going to lose interest in football due to Saints being shite, I would have done it during the 1990s, which were mostly brutal, especially coming off the back of the 1980s when we had some great teams and players.
Yet, I only missed two games, home and away, through the whole of the 1990s, and I pulled out all the stops not to miss those two.
There's loads of reasons why I can't be arsed as much any more, and Saints losing games probably isn't even the biggest one.

bingboy reacted to TopCat in Billy Mehmet
Think that's a bit unfair. Every striker we've had has got plenty of game time against part time teams in cup competitions. Not all of them scores 5.
Would be delighted if Billy came back. I don't doubt he would do a good job for us for the rest of the season.

bingboy got a reaction from TsuMirren in John Sutton
Sorry but to start a match we had to win with Alex Burke and Stewart Kean on the pitch and Mehmet and Sutton on the bench was a woeful decision.
He didn't even make the changes required when we were 1-0 down at half time and it was only when it went 2-0 and he had no option but to gamble that he went for it.
No doubt in Gus's mind a point would have been acceptable but we would have been relying on other results going our way then.
So yes, it was a fantastic day in the end but let's not kid ourselves that there was any managerial genius at play.
