Mars got a reaction from turrabuddie in Morton v St Mirren 2/1/18 LIVE ON BBC ALBA
A few of us coming up from Blackpool for this one including my eldest grandson, who's 9, to his first Saints game...should be quite an eye opener for the lad [emoji4]
Usually go by train but taking the car this time. Best place to park chaps?

Mars reacted to DLBud in St Mirren v Falkirk SPFL Championship. 5/8/17
That was very pleasing.
The opening 20 mins were shocking and we could have been more than one behind but once we got a foothold in the game there was only going to be one winner.
Great team performance with everyone working hard and few individual errors.
Can someone tell me why we keep watering the f**king park right before kick off though? The players are out warming up for 20 mins or so getting a feel for the surface and then they come out to something different. Irvine definitely slipped in the lead up to the their goal and it could have been costly.
Otherwise a good day all round and sets up the derby next week.

To be fair, if Stelios was an opposition player, to a man we'd detest him. He's an utter bastard, always up to something to get under the skin of the opposition. I wouldn't be surprised if he drew the red card yesterday by saying something or doing something to warrant a response.
As it is though, I love the guy. We need a nasty side and Stelios is definitely our bad boy. A constant annoyance as a personality and no shortage of talent. What a guy.

Mars reacted to TPAFKA Jersey 2 in Mixing Of Family Stand
It will be a cold day in hell, the day we eradicate swearing from football matches.
I have taken all three of my daughters to St. Mirren games over the years and have never had an issue with them being exposed to bad language. I've never brought them up to think that "bad" things don't exist, more that they recognise what is unacceptable and don't do it themselves (well, not in front of me anyway). In fact it has been quite comical seeing how they react to these situations. I actually remember vividly the first game I took my middle daughter to. It was a first division game at home to Clyde. We won 2-1 (I think Alan Russell scored both our goals). We were in the PDE stand which I'm sure was effectively the family stand at the time. I'm pretty sure we went 1-0 down in that match and a particularly "colourful" tirade was launched from the row right behind us, which included some player of ref being told he would be seen next Tuesday. My daughter (who was probably about 7 I guess) and I turned to each other in unison. I expected horror on her face, but instead I was greeted by a slightly sheepish giggle. I simply said to her "You know that's naughty yeah?". She nodded and we went about her business.
I'm all for the moderation of certain behaviours that have been discussed over the last week, but the day that football is sanitised to a level where people aren't allowed to swear, is the day I'll chuck it.

Mars reacted to Wilbur in Scotland Football Club
Oh FFS, take a chill pill and look at what was achieved over the 90 minutes today.
Losing 0-1 with 4 minutes remaining who wouldn't have taken a draw ??
Laugh or cry ?
Blaming Craig Gordon / Stuart Armstrong / Scott Brown seems to me like anti-Celtic bias bubbling to the surface. We should be praising a gutsy performance by Scotland's players rather than firing bullets at scapegoats.
Surely Joe Hart was the real cock out there. Two howlers !!
I've never liked Leigh Griffiths but what he did for Scotland tonight was above and beyond my expectations. You have to applaud those two strikes. Well played Griffiths.

Mars reacted to RVMac in Season 17/18 St Mirren Kit
I grew up in Paisley but moved South with parents in '88. Have always followed St Mirren and didnt miss any home games as a kid. Onl;y now get to a game every couple of years when visiting Scotland.
Just seen new Kit and was surprised its identical to my 4 sons team kit. They are another SMFC but South Molton FC in Devon. Have same Black and White but away kit is red and black stripes.
We shall see if that is the new away kit too......
Ironic I have moved 400 plus miles and kids now play for SMFC albeit not quite the same. One day maybe

Mars reacted to Soctty in General Election 8th June
We've never had it so good folks! The foodbanks are great aren't they? We have dismantling of the NHS to look forward to as well - but most of us are alright today, aren't we?
I think we all love having nuclear weapons in our country, and the money we spend on them is far better spent there than helping those in need.
We could tax big businesses more, but why do that when we can squeeze every last penny out of the disabled, the elderly and the infirm, while making those on lower earnings forego a few more of life's little luxuries?
Yeah, the country is in good shape for most. f**k those who are struggling, hopefully they'll die and we won't have to worry about them any longer.
This is our caring society today. Bravo.

Mars reacted to Dirty Sanchez in St Mirren Photos & Videos
I've just come across this guy on Google; John Love.
Seemingly a Saints fan who emigrated to the States, and was subsequently killed in the war in Vietnam in 1969.
Pictured here at the Love Street end turnstiles in the late 1950s. That actual turnstile was only knocked down recently. You can still see it on Google Street View.
There's a page on John Love here:

Mars reacted to Stoobs in Esmael Goncalves on way back
Goncalves is a legend in more ways than one. In April or May 2013, I alongwith another plain clothes cop, were sent to a report of a fight in a flat at Renfrew Village, think it was Mulberry Square. Went to flat, called for back up, heard loud noises within. Adrenalin pumping round body. Knocked on door and muscular, bare chested, black fellow answered door and was looking happy. Could have knocked me over with a feather. GONCALVES. Told him why we were there and invited us in. The flat looked like the end of a Saturday night in Club Slapper. Drink everywhere. Goncalves and 2 Portuguese fellows within. Turns out, Porto (I think) scored last minute goal to secure Portuguese league and the three of them were going mental, celebrating. We all laughed, I relaxed where he then invites me into his bedroom. Started getting nervous as he is a big boy but he then proceeds to open up a set of drawers where there were an assortment of replica St.Mirren strips from cup final, every player was there. All fully embroidered with the match details under our club crest. He then asks me to pick one. I took Thommohawk's jersey, thanked Mr Goncalves for his time where he invited me back to party after my shift where I had to decline. Went back to office, declared the gift and gave it to wee Saints mad boy in my street who burst out crying when he got the strip and it is still up on his bedroom wall today. Sorry for long winded story but good to remember a legend.

Mr Motivator couldn't motivate that team .
This shambles isn't Jack Ross's fault . He hasn't signed any of them .

Mars reacted to Sonny in Jack Ross Must Go.
Pish. He has the worst squad I have ever had the misfortune to witness and little money to do anything about it. This week he tried to sign John Rankin but could not match QoS FFS ( © Drew) . And whether you like it or not he will be here even if we go down so get used to it and stop peddling the same shit after every single game. It achieves nothing.

Mars reacted to Drew in Jack Ross Must Go.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that Ross is blameless.
He has clearly made mistakes, but, given the position we are in, every error in judgement tends to be more critical. It sounds as though today was a terrible performance, and he has to carry the can for that. No excuses. Unfortunately (for Jack Ross and the rest of us), he has absolutely no margin for error. That is why I have a degree of sympathy for his position. Aside from that, the club has been in terminal decline for a few years, and he joined us after the rot had well and truly set in. I can't get my head round what is behind that, though have a few ideas as to who are most culpable, and Jack Ross is quite far down that list.

Mars reacted to pozbaird in Jason Naismith
When Broadfoot signed a PCA with Rangers, it was old Rangers, big money Rangers, playing in UEFA cup finals Rangers. Despite our dislike of that club, I reckon the vast majority of us recognised that it was a big move for the player and a step up. Broadfoot, clearly wanted to fulfil two objectives - to show his new employers that he was 'Rangers class' and also to do the best he could for his team mates and his current employer.
This shows how far we have fallen as a club. Ross County - FFS, and I make no apologies for saying it. Feel like saying it again. Ross fcuking County. For. Fcuk. Sake.

Mars reacted to Dirty Sanchez in The Beautiful Game - The Beginning of the End
I always regard this as the main reason Scottish football is where it is. The focus of those who instigated the disastrous SPL era was greed and short term gain for the few, many of whom ended up in administration or bust anyway, trying to play at being big time in a small time market.
If the primary focus had instead been on the long term view of trying to create a league that people (and TV companies) might actually want to pay to watch, we'd surely be in better shape now?
Create an interesting product and the rest will follow. Surely a better approach than ringfencing all the money for the top division, then taking that cash and ringfencing most of it for the top two in the top division. Then pishing it all away on shite.
I'm personally bored out of my nut with the Scottish game. I only watch Saints because I got roped in at an early age and feel invested in it. The only other fixtures in the calendar that I'm remotely interested in are those whose results affect St Mirren.

Mars reacted to Geordie Saint in Falkirk V Saint Mirren
Such a wasted opportunity yesterday. Thought Saints were doing everything right until THAT incident. Frustrating weekend for me since Jonjo Shelvey kicked out and was needlessly sent off for Newcastle on Friday night. Despite some stray passes out of defence i thought saints were creative going forward and looked likely to add to the opener. At the other end Falkirk weren't threatening too much. We didn't do badly with 10 and could have maybe nicked another. Keep 11 men and play like that from now and who knows. We might have a chance of turning things around. My 1st saints defeat this season, though my other games have been in the diddy cup. Could and should have been so different
