daved reacted to BuddieinEK in Saints vs Fakes
First half was painful.
We had a flat back five protected by an ineffective midfield four... With poor Mullen so far away he could have been on the space shuttle.
We could have and should have changed formation much earlier.
Hands up. Baird is not the defender I would have withdrawn at half time. He had been our best and most mobile defender in the first half.
Worked out perfectly.
The change of shape allowed Flynn to boss the midfield, Magennis to support him, and the whole team to push forward.
Had we lost that, it would have been an injustice.
I thought Mullen was done after his umpteenth assault!
Wasn't his best game and I had expected him to be replaced!
Again, OK got it spot on as that finish was the sublime craft of a top striker!
Happy with a point but could have been three had the second half shape and intensity kicked in earlier.

No it was 4v1 !!
We took far more the year McGarry scored a screamer in a 2v1 win -

Erahons sending off may force us into playing with a back four , so maybe the opportunity to put two up front , hope Tansey or McGinn are back from injury , and McPherson gets a wee rest .

Why should it be moved? The west stand is our stand.
The main question I’ve got is why stewards tried to accuse Josh of spitting on a Dundee United fan?
Proceeded then to try to eject him from the ground.
Then when he asks them to prove it, they back down, and the Dundee United fan admits outside that he was ASKED to give a false statement that he was spat on, even though he hadn’t.
If someone from the club or security company wants to answer that, I’m all ears

I'd push the boat out to get him till at least the end of the season. He was a magnificent player playing at a very good level down south. I see him as a bit of a coup for us.
If he's enjoying his time with us and not using us as a shop window, lets trying and get him a little longer. Could turn out to be our Lewis Morgan this year.

I'm actually surprised at this figure, £46k a year is more than a decent salary, especially when you take in the hours they "work".
I'm not getting into the actual quality you get for £46k, that's a never ending debate.
As has been mentioned, players just don't stop earning any money after they stop playing and, if they have any sense, would have saved up a nice nest egg for a rainy day on the salary they currently earn.

Ways and means Okay. That's how I earned my living.
Different sample sizes for a whole range of organisations taking into account staff numbers, structures, locations etc
Often also with interpreters. It was tough but also fun.
Roughly 1.hour for Director Level. 45 Minutes Senior Manager, 40 Minutes Managers, 30 Minutes others.
Structured but very flexible approach. Around 12-15 people a day. I rarely bothered with breaks.
Preferred to finish early to let people clear up for the day. Would also lead teams.
No need to try to persuade you. It's just what I got paid to do.
Others do jobs I would have no idea how to handle.
The driving force for me was to have each interviewee feel free to participate and enjoy it.
Very few complaints!

Agree with all of this apart from maybe getting Baird back into defence. I think Alfie Jones has played well these last few games and deserves to be in there ahead of Jack right now.

As I wrote elsewhere - losing either Anton or Bairdy at CB OR/AND McGinn or Hodson at Full back makes us weaker at the moment - they are our best option in these positions.
Problem is the squad is not good enough, at least with those who are currently fit...

Don't just need another forward, need an experienced centre half as well, currently our defence is full of weans.

daved reacted to norrie82 in Stubbs can go now
It’s actually very sad to see us in this state so early in the season. The boards can’t sack anyone so let’s forget this. Stubbs is the manager but his recruitment has been all over the place. There seems to be no set policy and it’s resulted in guys signing who are way off the standard required. I worry when the manager sits all game and doesn’t get on the touchline ? What I think is most disappointing is that we had it all there for us. Add in some proven spl standard players and we would be competitive. We haven’t we have ripped up the team and with it the team spirit i has been diminished. The latest suggestion of smith leaving is absolutely astonishing and if true it must have board members wondering what is going on. With the chance of winning any points in the next two games unlikely we will have more negative press and never have I seen a crowd want the manager out when the season is only three weeks old. He shouldn’t go he should be able to build a team but it has to happen quick and we need to at least be competitive. Yesterday the team looked flat they look like they aren’t playing for the boss and this usually leads to relegation and a managerial change

My Arab supporting mate txt today to say they are looking to sign him . If the rumours are correct and he is available , I would expect a very long queue of clubs competing foe his signature.

It would be nice to go into this tournament with the spine of a good settled side, but that just hasn't been possible with the situations we have found ourselves in during the last few pre-seasons, and that means results like this are going to happen. It's clear we need some better players to take us up a level, but these guys don't want to commit to us in July in case a better team comes along willing to pay them more money, or if it's a loan, the parent club might be waiting on a signing before they are willing to let them go.
A lot of these guys were playing their first or second game for the club as well. They might need a bit more time. I remember last season several players being completely written off after some bad results in this cup and a pre season defeat to Dundee. It was stupid to do it then, and it's stupid to do it now.

Aye very good. I've posted about the balance of the squad - all our signings bar Paul McGinn have said they are all making the step up to full time, first team premiership level. Normally managers will mix up youth and experienced signings. I haven't said any of our new signings are no good because they are non-league or part time. Stubbs said pre-match on BT Sport that most of the new signings were on the bench at the moment because he didn't think it would be fair to play them at this stage while they are still making the transition from part-time football to full-time and they aren't ready yet to play in a competitive game against a premiership team. That says to me we have made educated punts on lots of our signings - great if most of them work out and they have been well scouted.
When Kenny McLean, John McGinn, Stevie Mallan, Lewis Morgan broke into the first team they all had no experience and were all given time by the majority of the fans.
Eckersley was one of our squad who has played at this level before and done fine, and he seemed to be well thought of on and off the pitch.

Part of the first saints team I really remember. 67-68 season I would be 9-10. Had been to lots of games before that but that is the first season I really remember. League champions in the first half beat rangers in the second half of year for the first time in many years.

daved reacted to Soctty in Alan's first signings
It's a gamble bringing in non league players, but it has worked for other clubs in the recent past, and Heaton in particular looks a great prospect, given the teams keeping tabs on him.
Obviously more experience required, but these guys will be highly motivated to do well for us and give themselves a chance to higher in the game.

daved reacted to St.Ricky in Why should we buy a season ticket?
Great news. So early too. The early bird offer lasts until the end of June. A lot of new people buying I understand. Best get in early and retain or secure a seat of your choice rather than wait, pay more and perhaps not get the seats you would like.

daved reacted to Ayrshire Saints in Sunderland Speak To Jack Ross
Ah SMFC saved Jack Ross, interesting spin on things. Well done then to Gordon Scott and co. He seems to have fooled virtually everyone involved in Scottish football as well, he's some shyster right enough but no flies on you Stu, you alone can see right through him ! What he does or doesn't do from now on matters not a jot to us Saints fans but it's a mighty hard stance to argue he was anything but good for SMFC. Imagine taking a full 3 months to turn it around !
-
daved reacted to djchapsticks in How many seats do the bigots get ?
Behind the goal is the away end. That should be the long and short of it really.
What happens if, for instance, season ticket demand went absolutely mental and the only option was to create season tickets for W6 and W7? Do you deny Saints fans the opportunity to buy a season ticket in a place they want on the promise of 3 or 4 hoardes of arseholes coming and taking a third of the stand year in year out and force them up to W1 or the main stand?!
Of course not. Any seat in the West, Main or South stands should be available to St mirren supporters to reserve as a season ticket. For me, the away end holds 1600 and that's that, no room for manoeuvre. Can't get a ticket? Tough shit.
