mirrenbud
Mark Spalding will be Ian Murray's assistant, both worked together at Dumbarton. Going by history he will be our next manager
gazmc83
Mark spalding could be a good option lots of experience with working in youth academies at the Sfa, Falkirk and Stirling uni and was part of murrays team at Dumbarton Edited June 12, 2015 by gazmc83
ulysses
Dumbarton fans are a bit unsure of Spalding being a number 2, and that he's more of a coach. They reckon Murray needs a more experienced assistant.

He can work with Longwell in picking out the best academy players and coaching them through the first team.

faraway saint
Somebody Murray trusts and knows well. To keep the up "clean out the old" regime, I'd be surprised if it was any of the current employees. Could guess but no real point, what will be will be. Aye. Stu
Being officially announced today according to the PDE Twitter. Will be surprised if it's not Spalding.
TopCat
Will be disappointed if it Spalding. Was wanting someone experienced in full time management as Murray isn't. Spalding isn't either, he would very much have the feeling of the new Ian Jenkins about him.
beyond our ken
shouldn't be the case that the manager has experience of management? He should have shown enough in the selection process (nobody laugh) to reassure that HE is the man, not his assistant. New manager + experienced assistant (guy who couldn't make it on his own) = recipe for disaster
shull
Hendrie and Coughlin complemented each other. Apart, not so good.

beyond our ken
It was certainly mentioned that Coughlin undermined Hendrie in the later days of their partnership. It almost always happens, assistant thinks he is the real brains of the operation, starts working against the gaffer who carries the can for the inevitable downturn. The manager needs to be the unquestioned leader, or you end up with a numpty like Craig talking his way into a job and undoing 10 years of good work in the process. For all his faults, wee Gus had it right in this regard. Strong character though Andy Milen was, the relationship was properly mapped out at the start and there were no problems-save for Millen's management of the reserves which probably convinced him that he would never be a manager
