Indeed he did and Wright's retort? He tried to mimic Keane's accent.

Southgate seems a decent bloke and did a decent job. They are a shite team though and the fact he took a shite team to the semi final reflects well on him. They could hardly score from open play, Alli is a sand-dancer, Sterling flatters to deceive, Kane is really not the messiah, he’s just a naughty boy. They scraped past Tunisia, played utter dross in Panama, won another game on pens, and when they faced decent teams in Belgium and Croatia - lost to both. They lost to Croatia having been 1-0 going on 4-0 up at the half, and were then made to look lethargic against a team who should have been mentally and physically drained, given the matches Croatia had negotiated. They deserve credit for brushing aside a stuffy Sweden side who could have caused them problems.
A nation was whipped into a World Cup frenzy and the dumbfcuks believed it was coming home... but enough about Argentina 1978. Back to England...
The pundits and commentators DO matter. They matter because their coverage is nationwide, and especially in the case of the BBC, they simply become the EBC. Last night on ITV Roy Keane let loose on a squirming Ian Wright and blasted him right between his smug eyes... Keane simply hammered Wright about how he and his colleagues had been going on all week about the final, how they’d play against France, and where the World Cup final parties were going to be. He really got tore into Wright for his arrogance and how that arrogance was not just limited to him. Wright looked like he’d shat himself. Wright’s dismissive smugness towards ‘this lot’ in regard to Croatia at half time made Keane’s post-match reaction all the sweeter and was thoroughly deserved.
When Wales were going great guns in a major competition recently, I was right behind them. I do not remember being subjected to OTT Welsh commentators or pundits going apeshit about it coming home, or anyone designating gameday to be Chris Coleman shiny shoes and chewing gum day, nor do I remember Welsh pundits dissing’ the opposition and planning for the final. Wrighty, Linekery, Shearery and Ferdinandy matter simply because they are thrust upon us and they simply pay no heed to the fact they are broadcasting to an entire nation, not merely one part of it.
If Scotland were in England’s position we’d be giving it big licks and going crazy too - absolutely, but if you were in Southampton or Birmingham, Cardiff or Basingstoke... you would never know about it, unless you went into your Sky box and sought out the BBC Scotland channel.
Thankfully they’re out now, and France v Croatia looks tasty. In football, only St Mirren’s fortunes genuinely concern me, but in regard to three other sides, those being England, Celtic and Sevco, the sooner they get humped out of European / World competition, the better.

Whilst I believe that many of the players we have been letting go were great for the Championship and more than did a job for us, the step up is significant and I think that a number let go by AS would also have gone under JR, maybe not all, but quite a few.
Hyppolite  hasn't really been given a chance and I thought that with the right management he could be one of these players that becomes really difficult to play. Awkward, good ball control and slightly aggressive. As I recall we always had a good howl at him when he was playing against us, which says much for what we thought of him.
I will reserve judgement on AS until we get a good bit more into the season. He had what it took with Hibs and knows the standard that is necessary to survive in the league, so it doesn't really surprise me that he wants to build a squad that he is happy with and he thinks can do a job for him at this level.
I personally wouldn't read too much into the result at Killie tonight, win or lose. I would rather re-visit this subject at the end of August or the middle of September.

If we get a sizable sell on fee for him, I would like to see some of the cash spent on a statute of Mrs McGinn.
God bless her, she has done more for St Mirren than most........3 players, 1 a club captain who saved us from relegation and now John will make us what might be our biggest transfer fee since Fergie.

I just don't agree with this view at all.
I think it's pretty straightforward why there's such a vast difference in the prices of Armstrong and McGinn - and it's merited.
Celtic took Armstrong and improved him to a different level. He experienced better coaching, better training facilities, improved personal fitness and played at a higher standard winning trophies and playing in the Champions League. I also think that Brendan Rodgers being Celtic manager gains them a lot more credibility. They now effectively have the management, facilities and structure of a EPL club and English clubs are assured by that. That pushes up the value of a player like Armstrong going from Celtic, compared to a player like McGinn going from Hibs. More expensive and Less risk ,  is the way the English clubs see it.
It's the exact same reason why a player like van Dijk ends up at Southampton as a stepping stone to Liverpool. Similar with Andy Robertson via Hull to Liverpool.
The bigger the club, the more they want to see that a target player can cut it at what they deem to be an appropriate level. It doesn't matter if Liverpool paid £75m for van Dijk when they could have had him for £12m. They're quite happy to do that and get the finished article.
All the clubs are stepping stones in this system.
St.Mirren -> Hibs -> Celtic -> Southampton -> Liverpool -> Barcelona...    it just goes on that way.
No matter what people may think of McGinn's ability, it's ridiculous to say that he's close to the level of Armstrong at this moment in his career or should be anywhere close in value. The value of McGinn at the end of the day will simply be whatever someone is willing to pay. It doesn't come down to Celtic being tight. I think they're an exceptionally well run club at the moment and are dealing very shrewdly in the transfer market.

My son absolutely loves the new away kit for the new season and he thinks it’s the best shirt he’s seen for the team he is mad on, even being down in England with  all the big premier league teams he could follow!
He is looking forward to getting it with his pocket money he is saving and he said he looks forward to wearing it to football training at school as a boy there is a mad Celtic fan.
    In my sons exact words:
”Dad I can’t wait to show off my new shirt at football especially to show off to (no names mentioned)” basically the Celtic fan. He went on to say “When I see him Dad I’m gonna tell him this is what a proper away kit looks like well designed and well made, and worth every penny, not like the tat he wears from the Celtic shop!”
He has a very proud Mum who is the reason he supports St Mirren!
Thanks for giving my son bragging rights, as even if Celtic do Saints over he still thinks he wins as it’s a better shirt!! How a 9 year old kids mind works. LOL

Did Celtic score the night we pumped them 4-0?

We also won the League cup from this ground. We've had a lot of emotional times in our short stay. We just need a European night or two and we are there!!

Yup its not Love Street but it is our home.

Morgan will play at a higher level than Celtic he's the best player i've seen in Scotland for a long time and if he'd been playing for the old firm he'd already be down south.

Top 4 finish,  Scottish Cup win, league cup finalist at least, colts win challenge cup, under18s win BP youth cup, Woman team wins league, Knighthood for Tony Fitz,  Shull voted onto board of directors and cuts season tickets to £10, Tom invades Greenock and ransack`s Cappielow then confiscates Roman Abramovich Yacht at Gourock pier, sails it up the river cart to Abercorn harbour and turns it into a river boat casino, creating extra revenue for the club, LPM starts a recruitment drive for SMISA taking membership up to a all time high of 3008.
Give or take roughly would do for me

Local rivalries and derbies is a major feature in football.
Most football fans do not want to see their 'local' rivals win.
Its part and parcel of football. Its part of the entertainment.

Sticking to my opinion of middle of last season that he has a decent chance of being the most capped Scotland player to start out at St Mirren. Archie Gemmill got 43. Probably the most goals too.

There are very few wingers who are comfortable with both feet have genuine pace and score loads of goals as well as making many assists.
Lewis Morgan has it all, I’ll stick my neck out and say that he’ll end up at a top club in the English Premiership.

Typical Morgan goal. Takes it from own half into box cut inside and slip it past keeper.
Much as he is playing for them I will watch his career as I genuinely think he will go much further than the scottish leagues.

Yes I do.  The day we beat Rangers on Christmas eve and the day we beat Celtic 4-1 as well as Billy Mehmet slotting home a penalty to defeat Celtic 1-0 in the Scottish cup were very special occasions.  Also the day we lifted the Scottish Championship trophy to return us to the top division, all of these occasions culminate in making our wee stadium very special, very special indeed.

Fond memories of Love Street , European nights , cup games some amazing league games.  Feel totally comfortable at the digital arena clear views of the pitch. Facilities Love Street could only dream of having, train station on it's door step. Gordon Scott has plans to make it even better hopefully Alan Stubbs brings a brand of football that brings more people to watch St Mirren.
